Two of these fully laden trains pass through Aylesbury most weekdays. This particular one started at 1.32am in Tytherington and got to Quainton Railhead at 11.47am. That is a long journey!

Good film, thanks. interesting statistics about journey. relatively slow unloading process though. I watched a film about an Ore train in Western OZ recently, 240 similarly sized wagons and 6 locos...
very interesting thanks
Thanks for this Karl. Think how many lorry movements through Aylesbury this and the other trains have saved.
Someone said between 80 and 90 lorries' worth and there are two of these trains each day.
Could this not be used to connect Aylesbury to the East - West rail link that we promised years ago?
The option for that has been left open. It's all about the financial case for it at the moment, I believe. Hopefully when the new line is open through Winslow things will start to happen. It certainly would be good for Aylesbury if we got the connection to the north again. It's been over 50 years now.
So 24 Wagons, and how many tonnes each in lorries ??
I think each rail wagon can do about 100 Tonnes from a quick google. An aggregate lorry could do about 30 tonnes
So about 80 lorry deliveries in 1 train
Each wagon has 75t of material each, so using normal 8x4 tipper at 20t a load, each wagon is 3.75 lorries meaing the whole train of 24 wagons is 90 lorries.
@@tgk300xx4 thanks... So each wagon weighs say 25t = 75t + 25t = 100t weight .. So 25t each axle or 12.5t per wheel right ? (a lot)
@@pedromorgan99 25.1t per axle to be exact.
Are they delivering materials for HS2 construction, sorry I missed what the link was…
Yes, they are. The HS2 site is nearby.
