If you pay attention to where their meeting happened, it's pretty obvious that it was the other way round - Wei Ying came back to Cloud Recesses and to Lan Zhan, he was playing their song on the same mountain near Cloud Recesses where they parted, Lan Zhan heard his flute playing and came to meet him.
