  • Obsession Engineering and Marvel HCL Motorsport are building a Superstock Fireblade for our racing protege Franco Bourne.
    The Superstock Honda is nearly ready, so Dave is heading back to the Dyno at Honda Racing to see how much power it really makes! Then there's just the small matter of bodywork and a few details before the bike is track ready
    If you'd like to be involved in the journey with us, to bring on racing's next star rider, please email team boss Matt at

    After watching him spin some laps at monteblanco the last few days, I'm excited to see the boy on the grid.
    Good luck and a brilliant video as always

    To work on fuel tanks i got a nappy changing table for free from marketplace 😅 it worked a treat, soft waterproof top. It was for rust treating the inside of a tank so could wheel it outside for rinsing etc.

    Developing great power. Top job putting the bike together. Hope the tests in Spain went well & Franco getting on with the big bike. Can't wait for Silverstone.

    That’s an awesome kit Dave! I understand your desire to leave a side stand on, but being a race bike, it won’t need riding to the cafe😂😉 Nice to see you also add anti-seize to chain adjustment bolts in an aluminium swingarm👌 Looking forward to the track shakedown🤙 Excellent work Dave as always 🙌

    Hi Dave. I bought a dozen paint pens (i.e. every colour they have) and I stripe the connected connectors so that I never get them mixed up should I need to take them apart again. Hope that helps.

    It all seems so seamless, bet it isn't! Do you keep another set of bodywork for mishaps, or is the manufacturer on speed dial, cheers looking forward to seeing some tarmac.

      Does this company offer fairings for an old RC51 (SP1)?
      Or an company for that matter.
      I'd love to get a nice quality fitting fairing kit for one.

    What made you decide on those Bitubo and what do you think of it in comparison to Ohlins and K-Tech?

    • @obsession_engineering
      @obsession_engineering  Год назад +2

      All 3 are excellent quality and very capable options.
      I'm a bitubo technical centre so wanted to try Franco with those.
      Keeping an open mind, and as Honda Racing run Ohlins, we opted to try some Ohlins too and on the blade the stock shock can be reworked so it's good value.
      The k-tech through rod options are the latest tech, and we may try some later, but it's right on the price limit for superstock, so they're the last choice of the 3 purely because of price

    I love the attention to every detail, speaking of which - does anyone check the position of the rear wheel relative to the frame centre-line or do you assume factory tolerances are adequate/spot on?

    • @obsession_engineering
      @obsession_engineering  Год назад

      I tend to measure with verniers from the front of the adjuster area to the spindle. But I also have some straight edges for full alignment check

    Can't you slow the bike down a bit, to make it less likely that Franco will crash it and ruin all your handiwork?
