    Chuds will say that using someone's preferred pronouns is too difficult, but will tear you to bits if you call an AR-15 an assault rifle or you don't know the exact definition of "assault weapon" as it pertains to the law.

    • @Velvetx4cove

      I had a thought a few days ago about something like this. They get so butthurt about using pronouns, but are extremely anal about the "group" affiliations & terms they've learned(right/left/center/far-right/commie/conservative/socialist/liberal/patriot/American/Not American/etc)

      The thing is, assault rifle is a real term. It's not quite academic, but it's a medium caliber automatic firing rifle, usually used by a military.
      Assault weapon is the legal term. A lot of the features amount to "is scary", but a few of the restrictions might actually affect performance.
      Personally, I don't think mag limits are particularly helpful, but licensing and M4A would be the biggest way to help gun violence

    The first time I went to the US, I legit thought there was a terrorist attack when on the Fourth of July the cops fully had two assault rifles on them and S.W.A.T. vans were parked all over the riverbank but the cops were basically just there to escort the crowd to a soccer field.

      There definitely needs to be some type of mental health screening in order to own a gun. Not everyone with a mental health condition is a danger to society, so we need a way to find the people who are. We also need a better way to keep guns out of criminal hands. If guns are easy to buy off the street, it makes it that much easier for a criminal to purchase a gun.

    The one problem I have with hasan’s argument is that he’s putting assualt rifles on a danger pedestal over pistols. Sure pistols got less firepower. But it’s almost just as easy to kill a fuck ton of people with a pistol, they are inexpensive and incredibly easy to get legally or illegally due to the shear number of them. The third deadliest mass shooting in America (Virginia Tech) was committed by a guy with two handguns, one of them being a 22 caliber handgun. Many other mass shootings are committed by people with handguns too, Dylan roof killed 9 people with a handgun. In Thousand Oaks a guy with a glock with 32 round mags walked into a bar and killed 11 people including a cop. If your gonna be so strict on assualt rifles you should also be as strict or potentially stricter on handguns.

    I’ve always hated the “but the Second Amendment” argument for two reasons:
    1. The Constitution/Bill of Rights has been very wrong before (3/5th Rule, for example) and there have been many changes over the years since it was made
    And 2. Back in 1776, things like AK-47s and MAC-10s didn’t exist at the time. The concept of being able to shoot 40 rounds in moments with a single push of a button with a gun with the portability of a flintlock was not considered during the creation of the amendment because that wasn’t considered possible (or even actually thought of) at the time, so acting like a law that was made 230 years ago is gonna work perfectly with the modern day is ridiculous

    • @narrowstone5363
      @narrowstone5363 3 года назад +1

      Even the original purpose of the second amendment became unattainable the second modern warfare appeared. The right to revolution is indead an inalienable right, sure whatever. The right to defend yourself against a tyrannical government is inalienable, yes, of course. But is that in anyway plausible, if you can only own small arms when the government owns aircraft carries, tanks, missiles, or aircrafts in general? No, if it isn't plausible in anyway, then the existence of the second amendment is already redundant. You should be able to own a gun, but that can't come at the cost of everyone else

      First of all, freedom of speech talked about criticizing the government, the press, and others. Second of all, non-rich/white/male/landowning people existed before the law. And third of all, you’re right. It was made for those people specifically, however, interestingly, the laws on the first amendment have *changed over time*. The American government has slowly recognized the rights of women, non-whites, the poor, and all other marginalized groups (not to the extent that the should, far from it, but regardless, the laws have been altered). Gun laws, and the second amendment, have yet to truly address the fact that you can get 12 AR-15’s with barely a background check. Not to mention, me saying “trump is a piece of shit” is not at all comparable to me being able to buy unnecessarily dangerous weapons with ease

    Personally, despite being pro gun myself, I don't really think the Karl Marx quote really applies in this country at this point in time, unless companies wanted to start hiring armed militia groups to disrupt unionization efforts again, and maybe not even then.

      @@Quaquadaqu The Second Amendment provides U.S. citizens the right to bear arms. Ratified in December 1791, the amendment says:
      A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
      James Madison originally proposed the Second Amendment shortly after the Constitution was officially ratified as a way to provide more power to state militias, which today are considered the National Guard. It was deemed a compromise between Federalists - those who supported the Constitution as it was ratified - and the anti-Federalists - those who supported states having more power. Having just used guns and other arms to ward off the English, the amendment was originally created to give citizens the opportunity to fight back against a tyrannical federal government.

    The idea that a small militia in the USA would ever win against our army is laughable. While we lost in North Vietnam and Afghanistan we did massive casualties to them and left not because we where losing but because the costs over stepped the reward. IF they where feeling nice you would get the joy of watching a tank roll up and simply run your over, or a plane come screaming overhead and drop a pinpoint accurate bomb on your head. If they aren't the only thing that will tell you that you have been attacked is the crater your standing in the the fact you are no longer alive.

Also Hasan:"ARs are useful only if multiple trained military people are [threatening your home]". You don't have to say how expensive the licenses are... The libs have practically been taxing the taxes on guns in CA, their model for the rest of the country. And ARs are one of the most common rifles user for hunting, many aren't chambered in 5.56. One of mine is 6.5 Grendel, which is a great round for pretty much any food game in the country.

    Owning a handgun should be more strictly controlled than "assault weapons". Handguns cause more deaths than AR-15 or any pretty much any rifle or assault weapon. Simply because handgun can be more easily consealed and carried without anyone noticing it.
    If you see a person with a rifle on streets you know you don't go near that person. But a person carrying a handgun... You can't see it so you don't the person has it and it makes the handgun more deadly.

    • @eamonpower9532
      @eamonpower9532 2 года назад

      That is true, but the big difference between that and an assault weapon is that the purpose of an assault weapon is to kill while handguns can be used to protect yourself or go hunting. The way that AR 15s work is when the bullet hits the target it expands to cause maximum damage. If it can do that and fire off 30 rounds in 10 seconds or so, then it’s meant to kill people. Also, nobody has used an AR 15 to save themselves. If life is the most important thing then we should look at the +- that each gun has (people it has protected vs people it has killed/seriously injured) then that should decide if we should ban them or not
