I think along with ABS good tyres are also equally important. Because with stickier tyres it'll be more difficult to slide them as we all know that sliding friction is far greater than rolling friction. There's very little use of ABS on shitty TVS tyres. Most people on KTMs don't fit Metzeler and instead use cheaper tyres in case of which ABS will kick in a lot earlier and won't provide much braking power
dude what are you saying lmao. ABS sensor disengages the brakes as soon it feels the tire is being locked and it doesn't matter what tyres you have..lol as for tyres ..i have been using continental tyre for 3 years. .haven't given up on me even once. unless you are doing extreme lean angles ..these tyres will suffice for normal conditions.
+Abhi Verma Continental tyres are quite decent. ABS does not sense the tyre. It senses the relative motion of the brake disc with the sensor itself. It releases the pressure from the calipers as soon as the relative motion becomes zero. By the way, as far as I know Duke 200 does not come with ABS. Try braking from 60 to 0 on a Duke 200 with Metzeler tyres and try braking the same way on a NS or AS 200. Both the bikes are almost identical and without ABS, the only difference being their tyres. You'll be surprised to see how easily the Pulsar locks up and how hard you can brake on the Duke with good tyres.
Shubham MukherjeeOhh..I have not rode on new pulsars yet ...although I was not much talking about braking as of abs ...I am happy with the ones I have on CBR 250 ..those puppies have never given up on me ...I mean. I have literally tested it to its all limits. Yay for Honda . As for the braking on Duke and pulsar ...brake calipers can be a game changer as well when it comes to braking ..although it may not be true ..but the brakes on the KTM aren't the best in the market .
+Abhi Verma Bro just for a change, the next time you change tyres, use Metzeler or Pirelli...I'm sure you'll be surprised by your improved braking performance...and overall increase in vehicle dynamics
+Abhi Verma "Normal Conditions"....u dont ride a sub 400cc in normal conditions..metzelers do provide that extra grip needed for such a machine

That's the reason why I purchased apache 180 abs and changed its tire to Mrf zappers its much better than the TVS shitting tires... abs saved my life a lot of time ...
ABS is a must !! Simple as that. Randomly 2 dogs came on to the road form the bushes and caused me to bake hard. Speed reduced from 70 to 35 in a very short distance and then the front wheel locked due to gravel and dropped my ass. Dislocated my shoulder and rolled over like four times. In India anything can happen on the road so having safety of ABS and other electronics is a must. When ever I upgrade ABS is going to be a must.

ABS is a boon my bro. Have experienced similar situation multiple times here in Delhi. Moreover ABS gives more confidence.

Happened to me too, just yesterday. Jammed on the brakes when the Innova in front of me screeched to a halt - ended up giving him a little love tap on the rear fender. My heart literally stopped for a full minute when the driver pulled over and I saw the "Mayor" sign on the back of his personal car. The goddam mayor! But, since no damage was visible, he was really nice about it. whew.

rtr 200 abs will save u frm locking . still u may have higher chances of hitting a vehicle
than other bikes in market but.its better to have abs

It doesn't matter if you have ABS or not. If you don't know to break efficiently, even ABS will not save you.

planning on getting the CBR250R ABS. very confused though. Any idea about the ownership costs? and overall word on the bike?
I will be using it for daily commutes (highway and city) as well as some occasional touring.

@everydayindia I did test ride most of the new bikes and have come up to a resolution to get the Triumph Street Triple R. probably the best naked bike with the Daytona R engine.
Please do a test ride, review and your opinion on how it is in all, please do.
Same thing happened to me 2 days back...but I was not lucky enough as I dont have ABS...I scratched the left side of car's bumper :(

I think u r weak in braking. Always apply front brake first. It's really help to stop earlier compared to the rear brake.

Has happened to me once when I had just started out riding and was a total n00b. I was on this road and going at a fairly decent speed and due to some reason vehicles 100m in front started to brake suddenly and I was caught out. I applied the brakes hard and as a new person on bikes I didnt apply the front brake hard enough while pressing hard on the rear brake pedal and my bike started to fish tail like crazy at about 60km/h and I was almost thrown of the bike on to the opposite lane in the path of oncoming traffic. I could have died that day or at least seriously injured. Good thing i released the brakes on time. ABS would have prevented this situation. And I believe ABS can be a life saver even more so for new riders who dont know how to apply brakes or havent developed the correct braking instinct. Since that day I extensively practiced braking both in the wet and in the dry on my deserted colony roads. I also got the tires changed to Michelin street radials which are exceptional in the wet. Shitty tires means bad braking ABS or not.

This happened to me about a year ago (July 27th 2015 to be precise), but in my case it was front wheel that locked up and there was no vehicle in front but a fucking gate which I didn't get a view of until I was too close (as it was dark), slammed on the frontbrake and the wheels locked up (@52kmph I remember this like it happened a minute ago) But luckily I fell down and didn't hit the gate and nothing happened to me (minor scratches on my shoulder), If there was abs I would've definitely hit that gate and got some serious injuries In some cases its better of without the abs, Just saying. This was scary af even typing, I was 17 and stupid, found an open stretch and thought nothing but revving the bike, After that I became more cautious.

you should upload more videos on your KTM rc 390... its been 8 years I've on my access 125 wanna switch over to rc 200 or 390 as my first bike. basically its stylish nd I'm not much of a racer tho like to ride it slow not that fast because of my accidents Ive been in.. soo jus wanna ask 200 or 390 ?
karan sood well I am not much of an expert on bikes but i suggest you to go for 200 because you are not a rider and I'm sure you will drive slow so if you pick 390 and drive slow, the combination won't work.. 390 is meant for racing and if you choose 390 you will also get heating issue....

so yesterday i was coming home from clg on my p150.
i was doing about 50kmph in traffic. there was a car right in front of me going at the same speed as me. now all of a sudden the driver of the car decided to brake hard for some random reason. there was no obstacles ahead of the car. road was open for the car. and yet he decided to brake really hard. i could hear the sound of the tires squealing due to hard braking.
the car was just about 3mtrs ahead of me.. so i had to brake hard as well.
i panicked and jammed the brake lever. the front tire locked. and because i had jammed he brake lever, more force was applied on right side. hence the steering turned towards left. i realized i am gonna crash.
i don't know how it happened, but my reflexes worked. first, my left foot on ground trying to keep me and my bike straight. then my right foot on ground providing balance and again my left foot.
i barely escaped this situation. all this happened within period of 2-3 seconds and speed dropped to 30-35kmph.
i was shit scared.
from that moment, i have decided, if i am ever going to buy a bike, i will buy a bike which has ABS.

Naman Kumar I don't think you can add abs to your existing bike ie duke 200. you can buy duke 390 or RC 390 or tvs Apache RTR 200 4V..

ktm over rs anyday....although i own a 200ns just love it more than any bike even if it's a 1000 cc bike...and ktm rc feels alot better than rs test drive them you'll know yourself....200 is lighter than 390 so it's more easy to handle and use saftey gear and you'll be fine :)

Depends what you're into. Because Harley's and a supersport like the R1 are miles apart. The Harley Davidson 48 is a fast motorcycle with a comfortable riding posture and the R1 is even faster with a more committed posture. It really depends on you. Which bike suits you the best and which bike checks all of your boxes. The 48 is better than The Iron 883, by the way. Depends if you want a crazy ass cruiser or a crazy ass cross-plane crank, inline 4 missile.

+RONY SARKAR CBS simply doesn't work well, pretty much a gimmick 😡 You lose that initial bite which will lead to you using the front brakes (in scooters) and skid.
CBS for scooters is legit. So that No wheels lock up. The concept of initial bite is irrelevant when it comes to scooters. Because scooters are only for the commute and not for performance.
