I BOUGHT THIS 10TH OF OCTOBER 1999 4 DAYS BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY :-) KNOWING THAT YOU WAIT FOR THE EXECUTIVE ARTISTS TO RELEASE CLASS IS ART ITSELF.A RAPPER''S RAPPER. ORGANIZED KONFUSION "PRISONERS OF WAR". ONE LOVE. ENGLISH BORN SOUL RAISED MAINLY ON IMPORTS
I was in Queens about 6 years ago and drive by Linden and Guy R Brew and this song kept running thru my mind. This song is so universal. All hoods got niggas that this song can replay 4
My boy Romeo was my fellow freshman, and he got stabbed to death when he went out drinking, this was his favourite song. I remember him everytime I hear this song. From The dirty South of Africa, real life.
Fun fact: This chorus is referencing an episode of the Flintstones when Fred had to sing a song called "Bedrock Twitch". Listen to the song in the cartoon and you'll see Pharoahe Monch changed the words to "South Side, Queens Queens." ruclips.net/video/5haMVR5my-s/видео.html
This should be one of Southside Queens Anthems. As a kid growing up going to Ps 160 on Inwood then to Edgar D Shimer on Linden Blvd it flows through my veins when I hear this classic track. You had to be there to understand the meaning of you can bust shots like Todd Scott, who was with my man Dave Mac that night of that killing. South side was a movie and regardless of all the BS we can say we had mad FUN!
Man, 99 is when I first picked up a vinyl record, internal affairs was one of my 1st ten albums I ever bought. This whole album, hell, this whole era will always be close to home for me. You’re right though, shit took a turn at the turn of the millennium.
Lawsuit for sample clearance of Simon Says not getting cleared. They destroyed and stopped pressing the album because Simon Says was on it and stopped the pressing of the single. Just looked on Amazon and this CD is 1000 dollars. Vynil is available for 50 bucks though lol shit crazy.
Favorite Pharoahe track, just can feel it in your soul.
yep. shit had me tearing up when i was blazed. powerful song

What happened after 99?? It seems like everything went left
Golden Age of Hip-Hop ended. It actually ended March 9, 1997, but Big’s legacy helped it last for a couple more years.
It was Napster and the internet. Labels started making less money so they had to stop taking risks and only sign artists they knew would sell.
That’s actually a really good take on it.
That’s fact though! I remember that era and now look at what’s going on
Man, 99 is when I first picked up a vinyl record, internal affairs was one of my 1st ten albums I ever bought. This whole album, hell, this whole era will always be close to home for me. You’re right though, shit took a turn at the turn of the millennium.

“Bust shots like (Tom Scott)”? Does he say “Tom Scott”? Who is Tom Scott?
Todd Scott who killed the rookie cop in 1988 with a good friend of mine Dave McClary. They shot him 5 times in the head Edward Bryne.
