Jon Lord when asked to write a song for Frida: "Easier said than done when you've got a voice that is that specific and that glorious."
- Jon Lord, 2004
Beyond the Notes, Biography
I could listen to Frida's velvety voice all day.. You could still hear on Voyage she still has it
You're so right. Her voice is still fantastic.
she got the weakest songs on Voyage except for I still have faith
@@m.menneke8513Another Agnetha centric echo chamber fan. Does not work anymore. It wears thin.
People are starting to dig into ABBA which is long over due.
Agnetha is fine with lots of cover, wall-of-sound, adornments, etc ... Put her front and center, LIVE, solo, with her carrying the song (no wall-of-sound, adornments, etc... and she gets exposed (1970/71 cabaret shows).
The girls solo backgrounds before ABBA.
Agnetha - studio. A record label generated and marketed pop singer. She was not a professional working vocalist.
Frida - LIVE: stage theater cabaret TV radio shows. ALL LIVE. She earned her reputation among music peers.
Frida is the real deal. Frida is the ABBA girl that has always had a stellar reputation among her peers, since grade school. Agnetha has never gotten this respect. The Agnetha centric echo chamber fans on social media cannot change this.
Her echo chamber fans do Agnetha a dis-service.
My favorite part of this song: The music stops, and Frida's vibrato just rolls on and on. "You and me 'till the eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeend". *Goosebumps*
So if you two like Frida's voice so much I recommend you "I Let The Music Speak", "Andante Andante", "Put On Your White Sombrero", "Should I Laugh Or Cry" and "I Wonder".❤ You will notice that her voice sounds different in almost every song she sings but nonetheless you can hear that it's her singing because there is something special in her voice that makes it so unique.
Bennys backing vocals are the falsetto ohhhhh ahhhh in the second verse …you notice it as soon as it started you just didn’t realise it was Benny
No auto tune or pitch correct on their voices.💯❤️🥰🇸🇪
This song has always been one of my favorites. It is just musically so beautiful and spheric. All songs on The Album are amazing ...
This song is so beautiful, with those lead vocals by Frida. Such an amazing sound she has. And of course, those harmonies and backing vocals. Pure gold.
Please do react to I`m a marionette. Very different, again, equally brilliant.
Benny's backing vocals are those "Ooohh oohhs" that you reacted to in the background of the 2nd verse. He sings in falsetto with Frida to make that amazing layer of sound that lifts the song to another level. Love your work.
Great song. The vocals are amazing. Frida rocks!
Thanks for these reaction of another beautiful ABBA songs
This is a very deep song in the cult album that is “ABBA The Album”, a comprehensive masterpiece with nine works of art as diverse as they are magnificent
"One man One woman" (1977) has deep lyrics, (I love the phrase: 'our love is a precious thing…') a great interpretation by Frida (heartfelt and strong) and a powerful entrance from Agnetha to add a verse before each chorus and make it magnificent, a solid backing music with a great final It is one of the best ballads of Frida in the leading voice
"ABBA The Album" is a golden pearl
It is full of excellent numbers That is why this beautiful song is a little more relegated and with logic
It is very difficult to beat the pop hit "Take a chance on me", the majestic "Eagle", the creative "The name of the game" , the andean "Move on", the powerful rock "Hole in your soul";
and if that weren't enough, there is the mini musical 'The girl with the golden hair' (from 'ABBA The Movie') that includes powerful tracks like
"Thank you for the music" ,
"I wonder" & "I'm a marionette"
But not only the song is very good The video is a beauty, how They play with the images of all Them, entering interspersed and leaving with Their faces, with normal clothes
My next suggestion, from the same album, is the first song of the mini musical:
"Thank You for the music"
a really hymn of ABBA
I see you in the next video
My best regards to You from
Buenos Aires, Argentina
sos un grande hermano!!!
Move on is beautiful and with a surprisingly different first verse.
FRIDA sings FERNANDO. In fact she recorded and released the song solo in Europe before the band made it a group song.
Great reaction guys. ABBA has so many great lesser known songs which are equally mesmerising as their well known ones.
Try reacting to these lesser known ABBA songs next:
Move On-
Soldiers-
Visitors-
Like an Angel Passing Through My Room-
Slipping Through My Fingers-
Also do react to some of their BEST live performances:
Why did it have to be me (Australia 77)
He is your brother (Australia 77)
Hole in your soul (Australia 77)
Tiger (Australia 77)
These songs purity will heal any wounded soul. Peace and keep up the great ABBA reactions guys👍❤️😄
💗💗💗 can’t agree more !
Side One of 1977's 'The Album' is ABBA at the top of their game. 'Eagle'. 'Take A Chance On Me', 'One Man One Woman' and 'The Name Of The Game'. Side Two is pretty damn hot too with 'Move On' and 'Hole In Your Soul' kicking things off.
Their best album for sure. Every track amazing!
ABBA (the Album) My favorite album. Arguably their best. Not just because my mom had the vinyl when I was a kid !
What people don’t seem to notice is this album came out in 1977 at close to the disco peak and there is not ONE disco song on it. Yet some people still think ABBA is disco band.
@German Morawski Agreed. Thanks
The only group whose music lifts me up when I’m feeling low😊
i love Frida's voice
As Benny has admitted he is not a singer, but he can sing in tune. His strength is his music writing and of course a brilliant pianist (fyi - he's self taught)
I’ve been an Abba fan since the 1970’s and this is one of my all time favourites ❤️. Great to see that you young people appreciate real music, thank you for your reactions 😊
Ah folks, one of your best Abba reactions. I could tell that you experienced the emotion of the song, and Tyler I think that you experienced the emotional pain of the song. You looked pained at times, and then priceless are those few moments of silence between you both when the song ends, before TCC comes in with "gosh", coupled with a look of astonished satisfaction and appreciation. A pleasure to watch.
We're glad you enjoyed it! 😀
Really good song..love it! Great that you did this excellent, excellent ABBA song....thanks guys....keep the ABBA reactions coming...
This really warms my heart. Generation Z discovers pop perfection as it once was .. with analog instruments recorded in real time without hard processed computer filtering and autotuning. From an era when you actually had to master real instruments to have a pop band.
Well, tbf there was also a _lot_ of bubblegum pop in the 60s/70s where the artists in countless pop bands had very little discernible musical talent! I think it's easy to over-generalise that one era is all-good, while another is all-bad. It's far more nuanced than that imo.
@@221b-Maker-Street You are right about that... but there is 100 times more garbage out there today than then, or maybe 1000 times more. The record companies were scolded, but today I can miss their function as a rough sorting of real talent. I also think the music overall was better back then because you had to record the whole song in real time. The melody must therefore be READY before you enter the studio environment. Today, they often start in a studio environment (Pro Logic, Cubase).. without having anything.. It's not creative.
To answer your question... Benny sings in the "oooh"-ing part that you enjoyed at 3:28 and after by adopting "falseto"Beach boys styled voices.Thank's for reacting.
god please never stop doing these 😭😂 the pure joy i get out of watching you guys react... lmao. i'd love if you could react to their live performances next, especially "hole in your soul" at wembley!
I would like to see, at least once, a reaction to some of their more unconventional songs like "I'm a Marionette", "Eagle", "The Visitors", "Soldiers" or "Watch Out".
Those are great! Move on I'd add into the differing mix also as well as My Mama said for some of that baseline funk that's a bit different in sound from other ABBA songs.
Frida, Exquisita 😍😍😍
Check out 'Should I laugh or cry', a song that surprisingly didn't make the Visitors album (when 'Two for the price of one' did). The chorus may be my favorite ABBA melody.
FRIDA 🥰
Thank you for great reactions, wonderful to see you both there, also for your great choice of ABBA songs.
Benny's singing oohoohoo...in the background in the second couplet/verse. Frida sings first vocal, Agneta comes in as second vocal and a third and more vocals were added with voice dubbing for that typical magical Abba sound.
you should definitely react to Name Of The Game, As Good As New, The King Has Lost His Crown, Lovers (Live A Litt;e Longer) and Kisses of Fire (basically the whole Voulez Vous album and the rest of ABBA The Album) and for something orchestral and grand, the Frida led I Let The Music Speak from The Visitors album
NAME OF THE GAME. for Sure ❤️
Said it before, say it again. Best voice in recorded music.
The "Ooooohhs" in the background from 3:29-3:45, that's Benny right there!
Enchanting song, love it!
Thank you so much for going through Abbas' catalog of songs. The world's best pop group 💕 Feel free to listen to Move One, it's an amazing song. Big Hug to you both 🙋💝🎵🎶
Move On - one of their top 3 songs IMO along with "Knowing Me, Knowing You" and "SOS". Among their best dance songs, "That's Me", "If It Wasn't For The Nights", and "Summer Night City"....best 'glam rock' songs "So Long" and "Ring Ring".
Somewhat odd thinking how many of their fans were little children in the seventies given how adult a lot of their music is . ABBA The Movie is full of children . Glad you love ABBA you sweet pair :)
Frida voice is just superb on this song as for Benny singing solo Suzy Hang Around is the only ABBA track where you will hear him solo al the rest are with Bjorn like His Is Your Brother or Love Isn't Easy (but it sure is hard enough) unless you can get you hand on a live recording of "I Am An A" from their 1977 tour this song was never recorded but it is on RUclips
I think Benny also sang solo on 'Another Town, Another Train'.
@@dlk1dlk1 No, that was Björn.
@@dlk1dlk1 I think you find it is Bjorn
@@markcreek487 Ok, I always thought it sounded like Benny; I suppose it must be Bjorn.
you get it! exactly how I feel about this song
Those falsettos ooooohs in the backing vocals are Benny!
This song has been out for 34 years, this masterpiece has never been played anywhere else by nobody until now. Who could beat ABBA's music. It is just NO ONE.
It is Benny who sings the high "ooooooohh's" in the background of the second verse. 😉
I really love your reactions, very sincere and honest! Keep up the great work! If you haven't already check out Move On, The Visitors or When All is Said and Done. I've been an ABBA fan since 1979, so it is amazing to see people taking the journey to discover them.
TYLER will love “THE VISITORS” and Marissa can tell him what they are doing. 😉
A recommendation is Lovers Live a Little longer from the Voulez Vous album. TCC will go off when he listens to this
please react to 'If it Wasn't for the Nights', their 1978's performance
Thanks for share this, big hugs for You and big hugs and kisses for Marissa.
This is THE song for all couples, listen and learn:
Our love is a precious thing
Worth the pain and the suffering
And it's never too late for changing
One man, one woman
Two friends and two true lovers
Somehow we'll help each other through the hard times
One man, one woman
One life to live together
One chance to take that never comes back again
You and me, to the end
one of their most under-rated songs
Benny is singing the backing vocals in the second verse - Beavh Boys style 🥰
It's interesting how you guys are jumping through some of their lesser known material. They have a very full catelogue of great stuff. If your worried about ABBA songs honestly on average you've got far more of their most popular songs to go than what you've actually gotten through so far. These last two songs would be some of their two lesser known songs. Particularly the last one before this. Even though they are obviously good and a music fan experienced with ABBA will know them well.
ABBA were the first group to use digital recording ,
Usually the guys vocals blend in in different ways. If you isolate the vocals the guys are usually doing a few different melodies at the same time with the girls doing about 4 or so backibg vocal melodies. Then the actual main melody/song line ontop.
Nice work guys!!
This album only had three official singles but when I listen, I count seven. This could have been big.
I agree. Baffling why it was never chosen for single release...
Yay Frida Vocal !!
You kids have excellent taste. This song is from The Album from 1977. I have been loving this song and this album all my life. In fact, it may just be my favorite album by ABBA.
Thanks. Great song. Nice to see Frida shine. Now you should listen and react to 3 great ABBA-songs Lay All Your Love On Me (a banger), The Day Before You Came (musicvideo) and If it wasn´t for the nights (video from tv-show in Japan)
I’m sure I read somewhere that this was a kinda homage to Tammy Wynette as they could imagine her singing it, which also brings it full circle as I Can Be That Woman from the new album, also references Tammy, and it too could have been sung by her.
Hola chicos, que lindo que es verlos reaccionar a Abba, mi banda desde la infancia. Ya escucharon "My love, my life"? Saludos desde Buenos Aires 🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
I recommend a singer called Diana Navarro. With the song "El perdón" she is very versatile and sings different styles of music with incredible melismas. And with a very personal voice.
Listen to "Kara Gamla Sol", one of my favorite songs from the album "Lycka". I believe Benny is the lead singer, but it's pre-ABBA Bjorn and Benny.
Have you guys watched Hole in Your Soul (live version)? The energy, and then THAT Agnetha note!
Evreryhing is tô absurdly emotional on this song
Why are there some BBQ ribs on the small screen montaged with the ABBA video?? ;) Weird?
Hi you two guys. The one and only occasion for you to hear Benny's voice is the title "Suzy hang around", in all other Abba songs with male lead the voice comes from Björn. Benny was obviously convinced that his voice was not good enough for a music career.
His face tells it all: this is a GREAT track!
So Tyler is team Agnetha and marisa is team Anni Frid😂. Please do the day before you came, or the visitors, and also the piper all deep cuts from this legendary group
"Suzy hang around" is the song with Benny's lead vocal.
Great! One of my favorite ABBA songs!
Just a word of advice:
Drop the background music when you guys are reviewing. It's annoying and it takes you out of the vibe of the song.
Urs Geiser
Thanks you, I have forgotten, how good the lyrics and the piano are in the song.
I have no other suggestions like the fans: Benny speaks the intro of "Move On" (sexy deep voice), a folky pop song, so that I feel me good to start the day and look forward optimistic; don't know a video, only audio?
If you will see Benny in its element and sings backing vocal, yeah if you are ready to discover an new face of ABBA full energy and passion on stage, you could choose a LIVE version like:
"Why DiD It Have To Be Me" - Australia 1977 - Bjorn, Frida + Benny, the three blow me away in this moment (Agnetha dress break?);
"Summern Night City" - Wembley 1979 - disco rock hymn for me; great intro, then full power;
"Does Your Mother Know + Hole In Your Soul" as one title - Wembley 1979 - the highlight before the encores; yes, you reacted with the offical short video for "Does" and with audio for "Hole" (Tyler, you will get "a red face" showing °Does Your Mother Know° live ?!? both ladies very nasty, only a short smiling detail; the whole performance is unique; ABBA belong to the best live artists in their time).
There are so many others, perhaps the short "The Way Old Friends Do" - Wembley 1979 with the same intelligent topic as in "Stlll Have Faith In You", so important in these days.
ABBA were also stars on stage and not only a hit factory; they have so many music styles and started with videos before MTV exist.
Otherwise you haven't react to the unexpected experimental side of ABBA: °Eagle° (video), "The Visitors" (audio, a masterpiece) or "The Name Of The Game" (sophisticated with RnB elements of Earth, Wind Fire; UK no.1).
For fun - I think you haven't reacted to "Take A Chance On Me" (US no.4; no.1 in many European countries). If you see the video, you will never forget it, if you hear the song, so catchy. Also the dance track "Voulez vous" spreads good mood and brings god vibes in your car.
All the best for you both - good health and also beautiful moments in 2022!!!
It's Björn, who speaks the intro of Move On, not Benny.
This should be a happy song. BORJN wrote this song when his marriage to Agnetha was on the rocks. This was a song to try to say, “we can through this”. However, it comes across as sad because they divorced in spite of it. ❤️
❤
Ode to Freedom is the best song on Voyage marisa😂 but that's my opinion, keep an eye is a banger too
Love your reactions. Please react to Soldiers, Eagle, Angeleyes, The Day Before You Came and Under Attack
This song exemplifies how crafty the boys were at song structure and maintaining interest in what otherwise could have been a very boring song. Look at the format……verse chorus verse chorus verse chorus. Yet each verse is noticeably different. The first solo vocal verse, the second verse with the layered background vocals, the third verse with the stop and go instrumental. As far as Frida’s voice, I cannot deny her versatility and accuracy but sometimes, as in this song, she over-emotes to the point of campiness. And like Agnetha, her pronunciation is exaggerated. For example, an American would say “no more ace TA play” while they sing “no more ace TWO play”…..at the end of the day, small beans. Now, my absolute favorite vocal from Frida is “Gonna sing you my love song”……. She just sounds so smooth and feminine on this. Maybe it’s because she keeps her vibrato in check. I’ve never been a fan of women who sing like a frustrated sheep. (Sorry Stevie Nicks…..). she sings “gonna” and not “going to”. (Strange how they pick and chose when they are gonna use slang over grammar). And finally I love Frida’s Mrs Roboto voice on The Vistors, You Owe Me One, “Should I Laugh or Cry” etc……
I think the awkward grammar comes in especially on the earlier songs when they didn’t quite have the English slang down when writing English lyrics yet.
Not forgetting ‘Me & I’ of course!
What song are you talking about referring to a sequel to "Suzy Hang-Around"? Are you talking about "Me and Bobby and Bobby's Brother"?
Yes, I think someone in a previous video commented that it was the sequel.
love keep an eye on Dan
Re-recorded today, it would no doubt be "One Man, One Non-Binary Woman".
Benny does the high "Beach Boys vocals" 😺
I would love you to react to Angeleyes, That's Me, Honey Honey.
No it's Björn, who mostly take the lead of male backing vocals like 2. verse. Hole in Your soul and Super trouper 'sup-pa-paa..' it's both and Two for the prize.. and Does Your mother.. Björn is even lead. Might be agreed.
Here in One Man, One Woman it's Benny, not Björn.
Paradigm Power Pop
I'm not sure who told you could hear Benny on the backing vocals but they clearly don't know what they're talking about. Still one of my favorites.
It was me who told them that and if you listen to the second verse you will hear the oooooooooh's in the background and that's what I meant with Benny's vocals because that's him. So yes, I know what I'm talking about.
REACT TO HEAD OVER HEELS BY ABBA
BENNY ONLY DID ONE SOLO TRACK, TITLED: SUZY HANG AROUND, FROM WATERLOO ALBUM. HE SAID HE MUCH PREFERED TO HEAR THE OTHERS SING, CAUSE IT SOUNDED A LOT BETTER. TRY OUT THIS NEW ABBA TRACK, FROM VOYAGE ALBUM: I CAN BE THAT WOMAN 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Yes, Benny's only lead vocals are in Suzy-Hang-Around but nonetheless he did the ooooooooh's in One Man, One Woman at the second verse and that was what I meant with Benny's vocals.
Benny doers backing vocals in the second verse
Please try : Lay all your Love on me
Turn the elevator music down, the ABBA songs volume up
WTH TYLER! I thought your face was going to break. It hurts watching you. Lol (in a good way)
MARRISA cool and smooth. I’m sure that’s why she is in the driver’s seat!
Please try to react the song "thank you for the music"by Abba and Solo song of agnetha faltskog" i won't let you go"
Bennys vocals? Try " suzy hang around" abba, sang by Benny.
They have already reacted to Suzy-Hang-Around.
Next: Cassandra
Hmmm not one of my favourite ABBA songs. Nothing wrong with it, just not killer. But oh, the memories of hearing it for the first time in 1977. You clearly loved it though haha. Well done. Now try the other extreme - The Day Before You Came! or The Visitors.
It doesn't have to be a killer song. They did not write this for it to be a killer song, it's more personal with emotional meanings behind the lyrics that makes this song very special.
@@VideosSmokin I think it's pretty hard hitting. A good piece on the worth of keeping something difficult going. Even ig in the end it didn't actually work out! It was a great argument for trying. And it is well done musically. Obviously with ABBA they have so much great stuff that even quite good songs are lesser to many of their other songs.
Agree for the visitors for another extreme! The day before you came I reckon a bit later. I am the City perhaps too.
@@VideosSmokin it doesn't have to be killer. But I'm allowed to say it's not a favourite of mine.
Its still not benny singing Baciking vocals its Bjoern who plays the guitar
The "oooooh's" in the second verse are Benny's backing vocals.
