yah he's missed out until he watches one of those - I said this in a seperate comment: Watch a video of Agnetha performing it on stage and you will be even more amazed - you could maybe even do a video react with Marissa watching the performance on stage together if she hasn't seen this one yet, or even if she has :)) Voulez-Vous or kisses of fire are both ABBA songs that i reccomend getting to soon for some energy, or Adante Adante by ABBA for a beautiful soaring ballad with its own kind of energy. Move On by ABBA for soul and awe and meaning and just pure beautiful sound
This is one of my two favourite ABBA tracks, along with The Winner Takes It All. The production is perfect and Agnetha is at the top of her game........ again! Arrival has always been my favourite album of theirs, but thats not knocking the other albums. everyone has lots of bangers on them.
Abba is simply incredible, I admire seeing a young person contemplating the songs and feeling the harmonies of each song. I recommend reading the group's biography, you will be surprised by the entire history and legacy of the group.
"My love my life" (1976) from the album "Arrival" I think it's the most symphonic melody of all ABBA songs although now "Ode to Freedom" (2021) could be added, from their latest album "Voyage" in any case, the orchestral and choral arrangements are magnificent, of excellence and exception, to back the moving and powerful vocal performance of blonde soprano Agnetha Fãltskog this is another example of the heartbreaking and breakup lyrics that ABBA does so well, and that especially works wonders for Agnetha, the ultimate storyteller, the angel of melancholy a saga could be made with the break songs that Agnetha leads in ABBA a Top5 could be, chronologically: Disillusion (1973) SOS (1975) My love my life (1976) The Winner Takes It All (1980) One of Us (1981)
Benny considers this song as one of the best he has ever written. Listen to the piano version on his "Benny Andersson Piano" album! There you can really fully appreciate the melody. It is so beautiful. This piano album can be considered a "Best Of Benny Andersson". All the melodies he wrote and really loves are on that album. If you want a list of the melodies Benny himself considers the best he ever wrote, look no further than this album. "I Let The Music Speak" is the first track on that album, this should tell you enough. "Thank You For The Music" and "The Day Before You Came" are on there too. But also songs from his musicals Chess and Kristina, as well as melodies he wrote for Benny Anderssons Orkester.
It is so amazing to see a guy who was NOT around in the 70's react to a song the same way i did when i was a tad younger than you. I feel vindicated for the persecution i got for my love of ABBA back then. I have to say that of all the vinyl i sold off... i have kept EVERY ABBA LP and single i ever bought. They are me. I just couldnt part with them.
Meryl Streep and Amanda share an impactful performance of this gem as a duo to the semi final scene of the MM!2 movie.People next to me were sobbing.I pretended not to... lol!
I say it again, Abbas' music is amazing! They evoke so much emotion. It's awesome ❤️Both Agnetha and Frida sing like the stars they were born to 👑.Benny's music and Björn's lyrics create magic ⭐⭐So please, keep going through their songs.🎵🎶🕺🏿👍

Benny & Bjorn would go onto write some of the very best ballad type songs post-ABBA. Listen to music from CHESS (Someone Else's Story, Anthem, I Know Him So Well), and from their second musical Kristina Fran Duvemala (Du Maste Finnas, Guldet Blev Till Sand). My Love, My Life is an early song in this vein.
Yes, this maybe is their best when it comes to aiming straight at the listeners emotional core. And Agnetha giving it her all. I love that! Productionwise another perfect song. Musically they were able to keep it small, where the lyrics took the stage.
This is my favourite ABBA song, and I think I have heard them all. It´s not very well known, so I was very glad when they chose to sing it in Mamma Mia 2.
Thanks, Tyler! 🪞 This one resonates so deeply in my soul... and the vocals elevate the lyrics to an insane degree. Of course, the lyrics were changed to paint an entirely different mood in MAMMA MIA (2008)... and as effectively. #TylerCreatesContent #MyLoveMyLife #ABBA
Cassandra is an amazing song. If you know about the mythology of Cassandra (Greek): Cassandra was loved by the god Apollo, who promised her the power of prophecy if she would comply with his desires. Cassandra accepted the proposal, received the gift, and then refused the god her favors. Apollo revenged himself by ordaining that her prophecies should never be believed.
Yes the Video of Agnetha is fantastic with special affects and her ❤️ expression and how she presents the song you can't duplicate. Must see for sure .
Indeed lyrics in combination is so heartbreaking. Wonderful how you get it so much. It could be a lost love but also a child that died. Makes my cry every time. A masterpiece of a song and performance.
1'45" I thought you were going to cry. But you stopped the music in time and made a recovery. This song seems to be a version of the aphorism 'if you love something, let it go free'. A great reaction TCC. And jolly good news about Marissa's impending return.
I think he meant a stripped down, more acoustic sounding instrumentals would have been a better accompaniment to the vocals and maybe fewer harmonies. There's a cover duet by two schoolgirls on YT that I really like. It's the only duet I've found that uses the original lyrics and not the Mamma Mia version. Love the harmonizing there and it's a simpler arrangement of course since it's just a casual video with a backing track.
That one seemed to get to you on a personal level. Marissa has missed some classics, it would be good to know she got the chance to hear them and lets us know in the next ABBA post. Take care.
Not really mine at all.. too sugary for me but the pure piano version from Benny really got me… very seldom that I prefer an instrumental version over the vocal one. But on Benny‘s solo piano album are several version very revealing and interesting… another one would be the piano version of The Day Before You Came.. check’em out
yep everyone is entiteteld to have its own take on songs and music.. i'd rather prefer you to post an ode to the song than disagreeing with my opinion....
An amendment to my comment. Marissa like to hear the guys sing... Maybe Dance, While the Music Still Goes On from the Waterloo Album for her first time back!
@@claytonsnider9420 Dance While the Music Still Goes on or Another Town, Another Train, sung by Bjorn and one of their older songs too. Either one of them would be great!!
Benny thinks My Love My Life was over produced. He likely wanted something closer to what they did with it in Mama Mia- Here We Go Again on reflection. They subsequently stripped down I Wonder on Abba- The Album but it paled in comparison with the live version from the Australian Tour and on the B side of Name Of The Game. Sometimes a big enveloping sound is what can make a track really standout.
@German Morawski True. Easy to critique your own work on reflection. Benny should regret more his overuse of all that synth stuff that he used on their latter work. Some of their material got more and more artificial with barely any original instrumentation used. It set in on Super trouper and their final 4 or five songs were very subpar with Benny more concerned with beats and artificial sounds. I longed to hear a simple acoustic guitar etc. but we never got it much again.
