Noticing the art style swapped from pixel to vector. Not a bad choice honestly, I feel like both options have their charm. The vector looks so CLEAN though! I love it!
When this game comes out, would you have any interest in also sharing how the analytics/sales/Steam's marketing process works? Obviously with as much as needs to be obscured as necessary. I've always been so interested in what all a Steam seller can see.
Hey Mark, congrats on getting this far in your process, wishlisted immediately! Just curious, do you want some splash art for a cover or poster? Something with either 3d models of the character and/or some vibrant illustration? Let me know, would be fun to put together!
I'll be honest, the game doesn't looks like my cup of tea but I want to support you for the high quality content you make so I will give it a chance, wishlisted!
I'm with you on this. Anything for the algorithm. I'm delighted that "gaming" is a big enough tent that Red Dead Redemption 2, Euro Truck Simulator 2, Life is Strange, Stardew Valley, Hollow Knight, and Mind Over Magnet can all fit neatly under the big top with room to spare.
Usually new small/one man team indie games like this tend to have professional looking art but jank, game jam-esque movement and animation. So I'm surprised this one was the opposite, deceptively so, the gameplay looks so crisp. With a dedicated art team, your future projects could hit a new level. This was an insanely good first project, highly excited for what you cook up next.
This game, and really this whole channel has been such an inspiration to me. I never really wanted to develop games before but it's become an interest of mine some time between you starting this game and now. I want to give it a go one day. Sure I have a few larger game ideas but starting out I just want to make small lil free to play indie titles with a simple premise, but one that will keep players busy.
I'm so thrilled to be able to play it soon ! Looks amazing ! I look forward fort the next episode of Developper about the release and the final steps 😉 Take care !
Looking great, can't wait to play the final release. Really liking the solution to the issue brought up by some playtesters of "leaving behind" the magnet when moving to the next level, though I imagine that extra bit at the end necessitated a significant redesign of at least a couple of levels.
Feedback: I feel like it's missing a grand goal, like "help magnet scape the sewer" - trailer starts with him falling down, so it make sense helping him get back up?
Great idea! Imagine a small 1-2 seconds cutscene where you can see the world shrinking as you fall trhough the pipe... then the fall at thr beginning of this trailer... then angry byt determined face of the character zoomed in, then the rest of the trailer. . Would give a powerful drive to the entire trailer/game.
I wonder if this will be one of the most successful youtube devlogs ever, in terms of success to promote a game on Steam. It'll definitely be up there no matter what.
jokes on you, i did that when the steam page went up! it's been fun to see this go from "wait, i've never made a game before.... how can i call myself a game dev advice channel?!" to "untitled magnet game, wishlist now!". Can't wait for it to come out :D
Hey Mark. I've been enjoying your content for years, and you helped inspire me to try and pursue game journalism through RUclips. I've had Mind over Magnet wishlisted since you first posted it to Steam, and I'm very much looking forward to making a video about the game once I've had the chance to play it. Best of luck! I can't wait to see the end result. By the way... will you be sending out early access codes for reviewers and the press?
The super crisp, clean, Adobe Flash style graphics are what's really selling me on wanting to play this. I'm not exactly sure why but I'm really starting to appreciate less visual clutter in my games.
Can't wait for this. Been watching your videos on any and all updates on it again recently. Hopefully it comes to steam deck, recently got a limited edition OLED from my partner for christmas.
I personally don’t really like the new vector art, it’s too smooth and looks weird in some places, BUT! I am honestly over the moon about this game. I’ve followed the entire development series and I can’t believe how close it is to being finally finished, absolutely stunning work!
I needed to make a trailer for Steam. So I thought... might as well chuck it on RUclips. Enjoy!
Lots of luck.
(but i can't play side scrollers.)
Congratulations on getting this far with your game! Can't wait to play it myself!
Great! Any chances on future console release?? (PS4 pleeeease)
Congrats on releasing!
Thanks for the recommendation and wishing you a successful release and great run for the game @GMTK
Noticing the art style swapped from pixel to vector. Not a bad choice honestly, I feel like both options have their charm. The vector looks so CLEAN though! I love it!
The vector look makes it look like a mobile game.
It does also fit with gmtk's general video style
@@Lishtenbird It also made me think of Switch games.
I didn't even notice until you mentioned it. It does look really good!
@@Lishtenbirdyeah it looks terrible, looked way better before.
why did i hear mark's voice when magnus was speaking
Good question
Do you mean gmtk mark or markiplier? Cause now that you said that I hear tiny box tim voice lol.
i was thinking the same thing!!
Ok well now he has to voice magnus
Now that you mention it, I think Mark would do pretty decent voice acting
According to Steam, it's similar to Carrion so it's a strong recommendation, I wishlisted it now
I got Celeste and Gris, so I can tell this will be prime artistic platformer material and not some silly puzzle game or something.
Where do these comparisons come from if few people have played the game yet? Is it hand-curated? By who?
Also similar to Unravel. Guess MoM really is unclassifiable.
@@unvergebeneidTags and genre probably.
i too got gris, but i didn't get carrion despite playing it, so idk
0:22 the timing of the silence and the :) was excellent. Made me smile and chuckle.
Same

For sure! I'm trying to share the entire process through GMTK, and sales stats are definitely part of that
Why would anything need to be obscured?
@@Ten_Thousand_Locusts You sign non disclosure agreements when working with any major platform.
Would be interested in knowing what type of stuff you can't disclose
I'm glad the magnet's not messing with our robot friend's CRT-looking face. watch out for constant degaussing, I guess lol
You had me looking up what that means. 😅
the noise and screen effect when magnus collides with the ceiling!! it's been so cool to see this game come together. I can't wait to play it
so glad you changed the magnets face. That was terrifying
Haha, for me it's completely the opposite. I always liked the old face and this one's really unnerving for me
@@scream7468 the mouth creeps me out, too many lines.
@@dravarian26 yeah. Kinda looks like it has a very wrinkly face
I like the way the vector graphics kept the original's charm. And those metal sounds are darn satisfying.
I remember when these were just white and blue squares, it was fascinating watching this journey, i wish you the best Mark.
Pretty cool to notice that the artstyle is no longer pixel art!
It's so pretty! Great Job!
Oh it is still pixel art, this is just the typical trailer with "in-engine" graphics
/s
i didn't even notice! looks a lot cleaner now
@@danielmastia87no it’s vector
@@Gavblox I know, it was a joke, that's the reason for the /s at the end
Can’t wait for a vid explaining the thoughts behind marketing a game :)
step 1: run an active youtube channel with 1.5m subscribers
This looks so crisp sounds great too, can’t wait to play it

Seems like it will be a cool game! :D Can’t wait to buy it on Steam as a thank for all the things you’ve done for the game dev community!
"Make crappy games before making your dream game"

Added to my wishlist 😊
This looks awesome! I've been following since the beginning, and you've done amazing Mark
You've achieved so much! I can't wait to play this!
Definitely excited for this! I've loved watching your dev series, and this game is right up my ally too, can't wait to try it out! =D
So fun to see this get built over time. Great work on putting all the theory into action! Wishlisted!

So glad that you managed to finish it! Congratulations on achieving one of your dreams, Mark, and thanks for taking us along the journey with you! :)
Congrats! You did it! Added to wishlist.
I like the little sound effects from going in and out of the pipe. Reminds me of World of Goo.
Congratulations, so cool to see the progress of the game video by video and now to see it's releasing soon
This looks amazing dude, the art style is epic
Congrats!!! 🥳
So hype for this, you're doing a great job!!!

Looking good! Just added to my wishlist, good luck
Can't wait for the actual composer reveal, I'm sure lots of talented and renowned people got in touch with you since the last video
I'm so happy that it's finally here! I'll definitely be wishlisting this.
Wow. I started watching the development of this game this morning. Crazy how much you've been able to do in a day.
Oh, nice. I'm really liking those sound effects.
Wishlisted! Glad to see it is almost complete!
The presentation and writing of dialogue feel very SMB Wonder inspired. Good stuff!
Looks fantastic, Mark! Can't wait to play!
Oh wow, This looks so good! Movement looks so smooth. Love all the little comments from Magnus too

It is truely an Indie game trailer when the music is timed to the main character's :)
Keep it up, Mark. You are doing great!
Very cool trailer. Good luck. (I can't wait to play it, after all that teasing. 🤩 )
Congratulations! The game looks incredibly fun! ♡

Nice trailer :) congrats for releasing your own game!
I literally watched the entire dev log series yesterday, good timing
Congrats, man! One step closer.
The magnet’s face is horrifying but the game looks good so I’ll wishlist it
Culmination of a lot of time and hardwork. Well done Mark :)
Visuals look very good, nice style
Ohh I wish I could make as beautiful trailer for my game as this one is, very well made. Wishlisted! 💙

The A in the logo looks like it’s from Among Us lol
Lots of good “juice” with the collision animations and sound design. Congrats Mark!
SFX are sounding sweet.
Graphics are looking good.
Looking forward to this!
way ahead of you! :D gosh, it looks good though
Personally I would show some clever puzzles to showcase the game. But it looks good!
hmm. New art style. Looking fresh, but enjoyed the pixel art a bit more.
Awesome!
Excited for the Game Trailers Toolkit
Looking sleek!
I dig that tune!
This looks like a flash game with a bigger budget, absolutely love it

Congrats, Mark!
Well, don't mind (over magnet) if I do !
Looks great!
already on there. looking forward to playing
amazing work dude
Finally.
Great work, mark
This seems like the perfect time to revitalize that steam curator and add this game onto it
