I don’t remember ever seeing such comprehensive coverage of possible reasons for the yellowing of leaves. Well done!

Hi Danielle, I just finished watching one of your videos for the first time and it is one of the best-instructed videos I have seen. There are other videos by other folks that have been helpful and I took note. But, I have never been successful at caring for plants, so watching your video is very helpful. My late husband used to get a kick out of teasing me about having a 'black thumb' when it came to caring for flowers or plants. So I appreciate you walking me through a step-by-step video of how to care for Orchids. I have subscribed and I am determined to save my orchids with your help. Lol. Thank you.

You taught me something again! Didn't know about the winter care of the Maxelaria Tentaforia as this plant is rather new to me. Right now it's growing pseutabulbs on top of pseutabulbs. Thank you from Arizona 🌵

Thank you for watching Sharon! I can’t take credit for that tip, I learned it from Yoshi (channel Orchids by the lake). Up until he shared it with me, my plant grew like crazy but would never bloom! Since I cut back on water and completely stop feeding it, it has bloomed every year! That’s what I love about our orchid community! So much help to be had from our orchid loving friends!

Hi Danielle, compliments of the season. My mini phal has several flowers off 2 spikes, but the newest flower is wilting. It is in the original glass container. I did not want to repot while in flower but if you suggest it should be reported I will risk it. Your information has been helpful to me in the past. Thanking you.

Hi Daniela , I have a philapnopsis orchid and she is in sad states. I’m trying to do water culture on her. Her roots were terrible and so she does not have a lot of roots. She has two good roots, but she is trying to grow three more roots. But my issue is, my wife keeps sticking her in water and now her bottom leaf is turning yellow. According to your video it maybe just do course but I’m concerned for her. I don’t want to lose her she was a gift for my little who recently passed. I have many questions but don’t know how to ask them. Thanks

Hello am new to your channel and am loving it. So I have watched alit of your videos and decided to do water culture I have 4 orchids starting small 😊. But I do have one orchid that is probably 8yrs old and gas not bloomed but has a good root system. So am hoping for her to bloom not sure what kind. Thank you so much. My one question is humidity it is the end of feb 2024 so can you talk about humidity 😊

I’m glad you decided to try it! I’m sure you will do well! Let me know how it goes!
As far as humidity is concerned, if you’re doing water culture, they’re getting a fair amount of humidity from the water in the glass on the days that you are watering them. If you wanted to do supplemental humidity in the air, you could get a humidifier, but with Phalaenopsis it’s not really necessary, unless you’re in a very dry climate.

Hi Danielle, could you please help? My phal orchid has no roots, the top 3 leaves are floppy and the fourth leaf is firm plus there is a new leaf emerging. I am trying your water method to encourage the roots, but I am concerned about the leaves. Hoping for your advice, as I feel you are my guru of phalaenopsis orchids. Thanking you for all your information.

I advise patients, it is a long process for a plant to regenerate. Sometimes it takes months. You are on the right track, keep going!

I just transferred a Hilo gold to water culture. Is semi or full water culture best? I am new to water culture. Any suggestions would be helpful

I only have one Aliceara and typically I water it well, and then allow the water to evaporate throughout the week so when I pick it up again the following week it is dry.
In general, when you are doing water culture, finer rooted orchids are going to be best if they have minimal dry days. A few dry days are OK but if you leave them longer than a few days, their roots are very delicate and they may start to die. So keeping them slightly moist, not soaking wet, and allowing just a few dry days I have found to be best.
I usually put a few pebbles or glass beads at the bottom of the glass to keep moisture in the container, even when the roots are not directly touching the water.
I hope that helps! Let me know how it goes!

Do you need to empty the water out everytime you water them? So is the plant basically just sitting in air between watering?

    • @daniellesorchidranch1591
      @daniellesorchidranch1591  7 месяцев назад

I try to put just enough water to last 3-4 days and then it is dry the rest of the days of the week until I water again.

@@daniellesorchidranch1591 Very interesting, never knew you could grow orchids this way. So basically they are just air plants for most of the week. Thank you for sharing this info with us.

Hi Daneielle, I've been following your videos for some time and have a collection that is growing (20 plants now, mostly cast aways rrom neighbors). I am into my 4th year of managing my Orchidarium in a very small space. My older plants have doubled or triple in size and are hanging in slotted pots filled with moss. This season those same plants in the same location suddenly have exhibited burn spots. I've drawn the drapes during times of direct sun (East facing window) which is not more than 3 hours during any day.
Have you the same experience that older orchid's leaves are more intolerant of direct sun? As I said these plants have been in the window for at least two years.
I made a video last season: ruclips.net/video/O69l4MFU4W4/видео.htmlsi=k4Waf1U5j3khRr4H to celebrate 2023 season of bloom where I had 100 flowers in bloom from the collecrion.
