I used a yarn available in Cambodia, not prime quality, as it all comes from either China, Vietnam, or Thailand. I combined a polyester yarn with variegated wool, with a crochet #5 or 8mm. 10 rounds. In fact, one can choose whatever yarn and adapt the crochet hook. I really ❤️ the unusual pattern for a bag. I don't particularly like granny squares, but I will use them more often to create different shapes for my projects. Thank you so much for the inspiration
I love how this bag turned out!!! I’m a complete beginner, this was my second project and I was able to finish it in about 4 days! Thank you for the easy to follow real time tutorial!
Made it. Took Me two days 12 hours with me occasionally getting distracted or watching tv. Absolutely love it! I recommend making the strap shorter because it will stretch over time as you use it.
@MrsStewartCC I am so very grateful for your amazing tutorials. I have memory issues and so of course every time I want to make a granny square or anything else I have to rewatch the video step-by-step every single time however, I am very happy that you have the type of tutorial that you have because I can hear your voice and see your steps over and over again, and it’s always a pleasant and calming feeling Thank you so much.🎉🎉🎉
I finished mine in just a few days! Thanks for your easy to follow instructions and the opportunity to use yarn from my stash. I'll be looking for more of your tutorials in the near future. 🥰
Thank you for this tutorial! I have made 2 bags now! One with 2 strands and it worked up quite large and the other smaller for my Granddaughter. I just love this pattern, so easy. Thanks ❤❤
Thank you so much for including seaming on the strap!! I'm making a bunch of different granny square bags for my friends for xmas and this tutorial has made it so easy!!
I have just started this pattern about 2 hrs ago and im almost done with my first square! So far its coming out so very cute, simple and works up pretty fast. Thank you, ill be looking forward to seeing what other patterns you have
wow i LOVE granny square projects so this was SUCH a fun and stress free project to do after work lol! Thank you for being so concise and clear its hard to find great tutorials like this! lots of love from CA!
Took me a few days but I only worked on a little bit at a time. Each square took me about 25 minutes. I love how it turned out!! Thank you for sharing the pattern, you made it very easy to follow. I think I want to try and sew on a liner on the inside so nothing falls through the holes.
It can be done! I have since made other bags that I sewed a lining for. Just get some fabric and measure to fit. I used a SEWING MACHINE to attach mine. It was a scary moment but it worked!
Well I didn't count the hours exactly but it took me about 8 hours more or less. I really enjoyed making it and your tutorial is perfect! I have to do more, now i can't stop :) Thank you
Love this thank you, I'm going to try a 4th square to make a flap/closed bag with button to close. Not sure how the structure will hold up, if not il stick to the 3. About to start sewing! Great tutorial ❤
I made this. I used orange and blue. I also did a border. It is so cute. I will be doing some more in different colours and I also want to do it using the solid granny square. I will also be making ruffled bucket hats to go with them. Thank you for sharing this super easy and extremely lovely pattern.
Beautiful bag and great tutorial ❤ I actually SC my strap to the bag at both ends. Makes it stronger. I also put 2 sc into each end stitch on the ends of the strap also to make it stronger!
Mine turned out pretty good. Your instructions were great. I guess it did take about six hours. I was surprised that it took so long since it was granny squares, but they are big granny squares and I think the weight of yarn is not quite a #4. Also, I used an F hook, which is smaller than recommended, but I was trying not to line the bag so I wanted, the granny squares close together. Thank you for taking the time to film and post this.
Love it. Only need to sew the strap on. I used autumn colors to keep in the retro vibe of the 70s. Considering adding a flower to one of the peaks. Thank you for the pattern 🙂
this is my first real project besides some bracelets and it took me about 3 days all together but it came out great as a gift for my girlfriend. the only thing I really had an issue w was getting the middle of the v on the bag to connect right
Handles....its a tricky thing. I usually just go until i like it. Sometimes long and sometimes short. I am glad you got something hand made by you that you like!
I had to subscribe after finishing this bag. Each square took me about 1.5 hours each but I'm not a fast crocheter. I'm not super fond of my strap but it'll do.
Thank you! It is a colour changing yarn from Caron cakes. Cinnamon swirl is the name. I like continual crochet without having to worry about changing colours
I am an absolute beginner, I made 3 small granny squares as my first project and wasn’t sure what to do with them. I saw a video on tiktok about this type of bag, and immediately found your tutorial on here!! I finished in about 2 days, but I made my squares and strap just a bit smaller haha. I used a 5 mm hook and 4 ply acrylic yarn! (Might size down in hook size in the future as it kept getting caught, not sure if it was my fault or the hook’s!!)
Thats awesome!! Its a great feeling to have a nice finished project. You can do this kind of bag with ANY type of granny square. Congrats on your first project
@@Dominique3986 if you try again maybe go down a hook size? You could also put a lining. I suggest a rectangle lining that lines up with the open point.
If you make half a corner in the beginning of your rounds and finish it at the end you will be in the corner to start your next round and you don't have to slip stitch to get there.
Made it in a couple of days (with interruptions), working afternoons mostly. So very easy to make. I sewed a button on and a crochet chain to close it as I find the opening too wide for safety's sake.
the yarn you used was smart because i did three squares all different colors and despite being the same yarn they turned out to be different sizes ! i guess this could also have been avoided by having the same amount of different colors in all squares
I learned the hard way to match up my yarn. Different colours are fine but the weight can vary brand to brand. I find some brands like caron, bernat and red heart can have the same weight on their tags, but still be slightly different in size and this can make a mess! I woild say try your best to stick to a brand in a project to avoid trouble
Aloha! I missed your comment with your hook size. I just used the recommended hook size. It took me two days as I was determined to finish it. It came out so lovely. I do have a question, though. How do you prevent items from falling out?
Hi, i am going to do a quick video about adding a lining. I haven't had any problems with items falling out but a lining will make more peace of mind. I will try to have it out this weekend

hello!! how do we easily transition to another yarn when we change colors? I always seem to have a problem with that. and also, does this have a pattern and written instructions? I'm planning on making this as my final project in school 🥹
I have another video with a granny square where i change colours. Ultimately you are going to fasten off at the end of each round and reattach your new colour where you want to start...chain 3, 2 dc to get the first cluster. I don't have a written pattern myself but maybe on pinterest you can find one?? Sorry about that. Good luck! I am planning to do a lining very soon for this bag

I think I forgot to mention hook size! I am using a 4.5mm hook but this project is flexible and you can use any comfortable size. ❤
Sorry what yarn you used? I am in Australia and we dont have beautiful yarn like USA and UK😥😥

Half a corner. 3 double crochets instead of 3 doubles, chain 2 and 3 double crochets. Finish the corner at the end of the round.
