Yes,it feels that it is your place for sure. You look much more relaxed there, unlike when you travel. So your feeling is right. I'm sure you will succeed to bring your family there. Just a matter of time. The monthly budget is great comparing to US. In fact you can't compare those two places. Difference from here to the moon. What is the mentality of the local people when in a relationship with a foreigner when it comes to finances? Are they contributing equally and willing to do so,or it's more like expected from the foreign person to do so? We hear so many stories and opinions about it.

Hi Mike, great video, thank you. Interesting that you can live on $1200 per month, that's great value. Does that include eating out, or do you mostly cook at home with your fiance? Is Koh Samui particularly expensive when compared to other places in Thailand, like Bangkok or Chiang Mai? Sorry to be nosey but, how do you make up in income the $1200 per month? Is it your digital nomad income plus your fiances, or do you have other sources? Thank you, best wishes, Ian (UK)

Looking to return to Samui in November -- probably stay 3 months.
Looking to secure an affordable rental (~ 10k - 12k Bht / Month) -- ideally in the Maenam area. Looking for a place I might return to each year and use as a "home base" for other travels.
From my location (Seattle, Wa. USA) what are the best on-line resources for researching and securing this?

I definitely enjoyed my time there and plan to return again sometime soon. That being said, Koh Samui still ticks most of the boxes for me! Hope you enjoy your travels. How are you dealing with the Visa situation? We left due to the costs of Visas and a Thai 'partner/sponsor' blackmailing us for more money constantly, as we had to have a registered business in order to live there. After being threatened time and time again by him and his entourage of Thai friends, we decided to walk away from a business we had invested £25k in, so how do you deal with the Visa situation? I now work online and need to keep working, even though I qualify for a retirement Visa? What are the options? Any recommendations would be appreciated as we're not loving Cambodia, even though it's a lot easier to get long term visas...
