It's just that his peak did not last as long as either of them (which makes Messi and Ronaldo that much incredible, to keep up such play for so many years, but shouldn't take away from the sheer legend that Rooney was). You Need to watch some Özil highlights… Even Ronaldo says he is the best assister he has played with. He was a beast and if he didnt Transfer to Arsenal he might even be the best assister of all time now.
Wayne Rooney is both England's and Manchester United's (Biggest club in England) *All time top scorer*. Interesting story is that Wayne Rooney was probably the best 16 year old footballer we've ever seen (Even starting or playing a minute or two here and there as a 16 year old against fully grown men at the elite level of the world's most played sport by far is absolutely nuts let alone looking like he was to good for the team he was in at the time being Everton). United paid a record transfer fee for someone so young and both a young Wayne Rooney & Cristiano Ronaldo were both on the same team at Manchester United. Rooney was considered to be a bigger talent than Ronaldo up until their late teens/early twenty's and was definitely more mature and used to the men's game than Ronaldo at the time they joined the club. However as Rooney got consumed by the English media at such a young age, being England's next big hope and superstar ..scandal after scandal followed him for anything to do with prostitute's or weight issues to sparring another footballer in his own kitchen and getting knocked out before a game lol Ronaldo quite rapidly overtook him and took his game to another whole level going from what most people would have described as a showboater however extremely wasteful on the ball to a goal machine. Rooney still ended up having a *great* career winning absolutely everything there is to win with Manchester United and still holds both Goal scoring records to this day.
i luv the acknowledgement of the small things that make a huge difference, most americans wont see those things, and its exactly why u lot think its easy, football takes far more skill to play than most ppl realize, like you would see us europeans going crazy after an amazing firs touch but most americans wouldnt fully understand how difficult it is to master first touch, which is how u control the ball after a pass, like sometime when u recieve a long pass its very very difficult to control the ball, but most ppl will think its easy until they try it
Thank you for another great reaction. A dribbling tip: Instead of touching the ball as you lift your leg, try slightly touching the ball as you drop your leg. Touch the ball just before your leg lands the ground. Try below exercise. 1. lift your leg 2. start dropping your leg 3. slightly touch the ball 4. hit the ground. (step2 - 4) should be done in one motion. P.S. Do you think you can react to one of videos of Ronaldo aka Fenomeno/Phenomenon/R9. In my opinion, this Brazilian Striker had everything. One of the deadliest strikers ever.
Hey Luke I commented on one of your previous videos and suggested some specific arts in football you need to really check out which you've mentioned here yourself ... They're the art of; - the first touch (very important as it separates average footballers from elite ones) - receiving the ball - passing - beating the press - the finesse shot You'll get a better understanding of what really goes into playing the game and you'll be awed. Great video by the way
You should watch all of rooney’s misconduct on the pitch as well. As a lifelong United fan, you’ll love Rooney even more after you’ve seen him kick the hell out of someone’s shins just to win the ball back
Rooney played like a running back who was all round but not brilliant in one category physically but what he did do was play extremely physical and was an overall dawg. He always surprised on the pitch aswell and his footballing iq was always the catalyst.
Greetings from Finland. This is a good channel and good content. Maybe you could make a video of England's biggest derbies(rivals in US) Arsenal vs Tottenham, ManUtd vs Liverpool etc. Of course, this derby football topic would have its own story maybe top 10 Derby in world.
Rooney finished his career in the US. MLS club DC United. He must have liked it - a bit after he retired, the club offered him the Manager's spot, and he took it. Glad to hear you're kicking the ball around a bit! Remember two things. 1.) These guys are professionals. 2.) They've been playing it since they were children. It takes practice to build skills (and you being a coach, you *know* that). I'm seriously stoked you went out and tried it for yourself, though. Our presence in the us is getting a little bigger, but most Americans just automatically dismiss the game.
If you ask me which club legend, at their prime, would I take back for my team's current squad, I would INSTANTLY say Wayne Rooney. Wazza is a fucking beast of a footballer. Barring Messi and Ronaldo, Wazza is the best football player in the last 20 years. That's how good he was.
I saw some of your other videos when you were practicing how to dribble. You might have been told already, but turn your foot so that your toe is pointing down and touch the ball with the top of your foot. This will allow you to get a tighter control. If you touch with your instep it will shoot out
It's actually what differs players like Neymar, Messi and Mbappe from others, the ability to max sprint while controlling the ball. It's incredibly hard to do with 1 or 2 defenders chasing you. And to add onto that they'll make you look like a fool for even trying to chase you when they just suddenly change direction, change back and nutmeg you, then your teammate and score a banger. For years. I'd like to add that a highlight reel doesn't really do Rooney justice though. His strength was in his workrate. Not your typical striker that sits up top all game, he was very active defensively and had the gift of a playmaker and goalscorer. Here's a typical Rooney play: ruclips.net/video/pWDwYSkQj5g/видео.html An absolute legend of Old Trafford and one of the greatest to ever put on a United shirt.
You should react to Luis Suarez at Liverpool (and Barcelona though he was most iconic at Liverpool). To date the best striker I have ever seen from 2011-now.
How do they get so good? You need to remember Football is the national game for many countries outside the US, most boys start kicking balls around as soon as they can walk. Similar to playing catch with your family or /baseball in the USA.
Rooney definitely doesn't get the respect he deserves given his achievements. Maybe down to England's poor performance in international tournaments, but a phenomenal talent with all the attributes of an absolute top-level player. Strong, tenacious, skillful, quick, good in the air. And as a Liverpool fan about a former Everton and United player, you know it's hard to admit! As a fun one, if you're looking at English players, check out Peter Crouch. He's a lanky 6 foot 7, skinny as a rake, but scored some great goals despite looking like a baby giraffe on the pitch at times.
Some players are strong, others are skillful. It's rare to see such a physical players with so much finesse like Wayne Rooney. He's like the Brazillian Ronaldo plus a bit brute force and minus a bit trickery. However, what most people love about him is that he always play his heart our for the team even at the later stage of his career in the MLS (ruclips.net/video/pWDwYSkQj5g/видео.html). His stats could be even greater if he were greedy but he put his ego aside and played as the second fiddle for other out-and-out strikers like CR7, RVP, Berbatov for the greater good of the team.
Now that you're reacting to all things in England definitely check out Arsenal's invincible run where they won the Premier League without losing a game. I'm sure there's a good video on it somehwere
Happy New Year. Have to say this compilation didn't do Wazza justice at all. Top Goalscorer for Manchester United and England, surpassing Sir Bobby Charlton for each, Captained both. I'm Scottish and he's my favourite of all time. You must watch Wayne Rooney's Legacy by Aditya Reds. Proper fucking Legend.
When him and Ronaldo were both youngsters at United Rooney was genuinely the better player. Ronaldo was incredible but he was still raw. Rooney was so mature at such a young age. Played like a player in his prime as a teenager. Obviously there came a point where Ronaldo just exploded and went clear and Rooney declined at a relatively young age. You wouldn't believe that he's younger than Ronaldo and yet he's already a manager that looks close to 50. But that takes nothing away from him good he was in his prime. In terms of other players I'd love to see a Drogba reaction. He wasn't the most prolific striker but he's arguably the best big game player ever. Had a ridiculous record in finals and against the Premier League's big 6 teams. He gets underrated now by people that just look at stats but anyone who watched him at the time will tell you how good he was. Came to the Premier League when most teams played with 2 strikers and played as a lone striker for Chelsea. It was after him that a lot of teams in England started switching to 1 striker. His hold up play and playmaking was incredible and he has one of the best goal compilations going.
You need to watch Steven Gerrard, easily one of the most complete midfield players of all time. The likes of Zidane and Pele once described him as ‘possibly the best player in the world’.
To really understand Modern English Football, i think a part from wellknown players, you should research into the teams history. Eg: Man United class of 92, Man United treble team, Arsenal Invisible Team, Chelsea's 1st Mourinho's team, Man City Pep's team. Fun fact, Man United is the only team won 3 consecutive English Premier League twice
Great to see that you enjoy and appreciate football more and more. I suggest you to watch a video of Alessandro Del Piero,in my opinion the best Italian player of all time. You don't see often a player that receives standing ovation at the stadium Bernabeu of Madrid and Old Trafford of Manchester. Just saying, when both Del Piero and Zidane were playing for Juventus,Del Piero was the star of the team.
Loving ur vids, see a lot of reaction channels who watch the greats and yes they appreciate it but not a lot put the time in to understand the game so props to u for that, that being said I was wondering if you would do a series or whatever where u react to smaller clubs it’s great watching the greats but no one ever really shines the light on the local teams and the passion and love is there just as much if not more as these clubs are massive parts of communities. I’d recommend watching the Scottish cup final rangers v hibs 2016, Hibernian went 114 years without winning the Scottish cup which is the main domestic cup in Scotland, ridiculed by fans for literally centuries😂 even got our own saying of hibs’d it which basically means we f***ed it but 2016 ended the drought and the celebrations afterwards match the game, 25000 ran onto the pitch both fans fighting on the pitch 1000s of police trying to calm it down and finished it with what in my opinion is the greatest club anthem (maybe bar you’ll never walk alone) ever. Regardless keep smashing it as I said love the videos man
Rooney should’ve been the premier leagues all time top scorer but was inspired maybe by Paul Scholes and decided to play more like a midfielder. I feel like if he committed more to being the unbelievable goal scorer he was, he would be number 1. Just my opinion obviously.
@@lukessportsacademy they almost got relegated the season before and they had 5000 to 1 odds to win according to gambling sites. Biggest upset in sports history.
Do Alan shearers best goals. The best English striker for decades and premier league all time top scorer despite missing 2 years with injury and playing in a not always great team
My favorite comparison of an NFL player to Rooney would be, like, Peyton Hillis if he was good for 20 years, or Jerome Bettis later career. Kinda anachronistic playstyle, very old school punch u in the mouth style, while the rest of the league drifted away from that style. But he made it work through hard work and grit and natural talent.
Want a display of insane first touch and dribbling? There's only one true answer (and coming from a fan who despises Man Utd) and that's Man Utd's George Best...
Ronaldo de Assis Moreira, commonly known as Ronaldinho Gaúcho or simply Ronaldinho. is the best player ever, i don't care who says he's not, they are wrong
This video didn't showcase Rooney aswell as it could. He had loads more impressive goals than the video would make you believe and it missed out his passing ability.
Rooney was a bulldozer. Always gave it his all when he was out on the field. By the end of game opposition players didnt know if it was a football match or boxing.
Seriously, try dribbling at a jogging pace, just try to push the ball 3-5 yards in front of you. Dribbling at walking speed is actually in a way a tiny bit harder. If you can us your dominant foot to push the ball forward and jog consistently in a straight line, you will be able to start bringing in more subtle touches and maybe changes of direction. Jogging will train your touch naturally a jogging dribble is a much better fundamental than a walking dribble, bring slowing down and speeding up from there. 70% of the game is at jogging pace with the ball, so that's the speed and dynamic you should focus on. Its different with young kids, I would say start with walking the ball, then jog, as they will absorb it like a sponge, but with Adults, IMO its about building a few fundamentals and going from there. Also focus on your dominant foot, get that decent and you will find the other foot gets better in that time naturally so when and if you want to train it you can, 1 foot IS enough though Other things to train: Trapping= Trapping/controlling the ball on the ground (and eventually in the air), this is about trying to absorb the balls force. Along the ground get fully in front of the ball and trap with you instep. with your dominant foot Side Foot pass=,Using the instep/arc of your dominant foot most basic of all passes, if you can do this at least decent , and control a ball on the ground, you can play football Laces= striking the ball as a shot , head over the ball when you make contact (keeps the shot lower) follow through completely, laces like kicking a field goal, try to make sure *head over ball, *good balance *smooth follow through in a straight line Wall training= 1 person enough space to kick a ball about and a wall you can bounce the ball off. practice shooting trying to hit spots on the wall, but also try and control the rebounds, This trains ALL of the above, also aerial, reading of ball movement/spin etc etc etc etc, best singular drilling you can possibly do, in theory you could train a player from this alone, and a good way to turn it into a game by yourself. f you know someone else who plays, then 1 becomes 2 and no wall needed If you start getting the hang of this, start trying to juggle the ball , this develops aerial skill and your over all touch Dribbling, in and out of cones dominant foot at first and then try and bring your other foot in as you get better Heading is a matter of timing jumps and following through to direct header with head/neck and shoulder rotation That's my basic crash course (I am 41 have been playing on and off in teams since 5 years old,and started kicking a ball at 2 years old)
Thanks for sharing! I would say I have been practicing at a slow jog. I have practiced with a wall once and my accuracy is not good at all right now. I’m sure it will improve with repetition
Not the best compilation of Rooney although you can't really make a bad compilation of the guy. If it makes the video any more impressive he was between the ages of 16-19 and 30+ in all those clips. Not sure why the creator didn't pick more clips from his 20s but hey impressive nonetheless. If you're ever looking to react to a Manager or Coach in football I feel like there's no other man you should react to than the great Sir Alex Ferguson. 25+ years at Manchester United, the man didn't just run the team but he ran the whole club. Took a struggling team to the most successful club in England and biggest in the world. He also played a massive father figure role to Ronaldo, Rooney, Beckham and so many other great names in football and is the reason Manchester United have struggled in the last 10 seasons after he left such a massive whole in the club after retiring.
He's the man celebrating that Rooney Bicycle kick at 4:44. The camera pans to him not only because he's United manager but because he'd managed the best players in the world for 20+ years already and notoriously only upheld the highest standards and quality. Which is why the camera cut to him. He'd seen it all, from the best in the world for generations on end and so for that man to get out of his seat was saying something. Rooney also scored that goal in a Manchester derby around the time City got flooded with oil money and started to compete making the game and goal that bit more special
You should do a reaction video on Roy Keane! Very different type of player to Rooney, being a box-to-box midfielder as opposed to an attacker (they both played together for Man United). Keane is and was insane both as a player and post-retirement. Plenty of compilations of him giving post-match analysis which are quite funny. For Keane as a player, this video is a good starting point ruclips.net/video/XKW_dmSvPk0/видео.html

Rooney still ended up having a *great* career winning absolutely everything there is to win with Manchester United and still holds both Goal scoring records to this day.
i luv the acknowledgement of the small things that make a huge difference, most americans wont see those things, and its exactly why u lot think its easy, football takes far more skill to play than most ppl realize, like you would see us europeans going crazy after an amazing firs touch but most americans wouldnt fully understand how difficult it is to master first touch, which is how u control the ball after a pass, like sometime when u recieve a long pass its very very difficult to control the ball, but most ppl will think its easy until they try it
I have to admit when I first started watching, I didn’t appreciate the difficulty of even basic skills.
Watch "Guti: moments of genius you'd never expect". He was a very smart player
React to Gerrard, a legendary midfielder who could do everything
Thank you for another great reaction. A dribbling tip: Instead of touching the ball as you lift your leg, try slightly touching the ball as you drop your leg.
Touch the ball just before your leg lands the ground.
Try below exercise.
1. lift your leg
2. start dropping your leg
3. slightly touch the ball
4. hit the ground.
(step2 - 4) should be done in one motion.
P.S. Do you think you can react to one of videos of Ronaldo aka Fenomeno/Phenomenon/R9.
In my opinion, this Brazilian Striker had everything. One of the deadliest strikers ever.
My all-time favourite player.
Hey Luke I commented on one of your previous videos and suggested some specific arts in football you need to really check out which you've mentioned here yourself ... They're the art of;
- the first touch (very important as it separates average footballers from elite ones)
- receiving the ball
- passing
- beating the press
- the finesse shot
You'll get a better understanding of what really goes into playing the game and you'll be awed.
Very good videos, bud! I think it'd be very interesting to see your progress in playing football and body development day by day. Way to go, bro👍
Remember when he’s in Everton blue kit, he was 16 years old
Rooney finished his career in the US.
This is gonna be good , I'm not a man United fan , I genuinely am proud of this guy
Almost as much as I'm proud of you as a youtuber , love your stuff and what a nice likable bloke you are
If you ask me which club legend, at their prime, would I take back for my team's current squad, I would INSTANTLY say Wayne Rooney. Wazza is a fucking beast of a footballer. Barring Messi and Ronaldo, Wazza is the best football player in the last 20 years. That's how good he was.
Greatest english player of my generation
Here's a typical Rooney play: ruclips.net/video/pWDwYSkQj5g/видео.html
An absolute legend of Old Trafford and one of the greatest to ever put on a United shirt.
Highly recomend watching : inside the mind of the greatest of all time : johan cruyff the football game we see today whould not be here without him
Now that you're reacting to all things in England definitely check out Arsenal's invincible run where they won the Premier League without losing a game. I'm sure there's a good video on it somehwere
Invincibles*
@@massey81 damn auto correct
The GOAT in my humble opinion
You need to watch Steven Gerrard, easily one of the most complete midfield players of all time.
The likes of Zidane and Pele once described him as ‘possibly the best player in the world’.
Rooneyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. TOP CLASS PLAYER!!
React to Gheorghe Hagi, his left foot was amazing
Honestly, this video didnt do him justice. You can find much better videos of him than this
When you have the time, look into best defenders and goalies as well.
Regardless keep smashing it as I said love the videos man
For anyone interested. The game: ruclips.net/video/OcLhUiYrZhA/видео.html
The celebrations: ruclips.net/video/lt26StUVHoc/видео.html
The mayhem that unfolded after the final whistle😂 ruclips.net/video/2yY2iDsKvGA/видео.html
Need to also add context here as the last winning goal was essentially the last kick of the game to end 114 years of hurt
To be honest many of todays modern dribblers are kick and run merchants. That close control is only used effectively by very few.
Rooney should’ve been the premier leagues all time top scorer but was inspired maybe by Paul Scholes and decided to play more like a midfielder. I feel like if he committed more to being the unbelievable goal scorer he was, he would be number 1. Just my opinion obviously.
Leicester City video is must if you are focusing on English football. (Their league winning season)
👀
@@lukessportsacademy they almost got relegated the season before and they had 5000 to 1 odds to win according to gambling sites. Biggest upset in sports history.

I have the video queued up to edit 😎. Wild story
I hope that tea has got milk and sugar lol
Do Alan shearers best goals. The best English striker for decades and premier league all time top scorer despite missing 2 years with injury and playing in a not always great team
Luke, try to dribble on Grass. Its total different to play inside
plz react goalkeeper legendary saves
Gran jugador
My favorite comparison of an NFL player to Rooney would be, like, Peyton Hillis if he was good for 20 years, or Jerome Bettis later career. Kinda anachronistic playstyle, very old school punch u in the mouth style, while the rest of the league drifted away from that style. But he made it work through hard work and grit and natural talent.
can u believe this monster played with, in my opinion, the best era of Ronaldo??
You should watch amazons documentary on him, its a great watch
Want a display of insane first touch and dribbling? There's only one true answer (and coming from a fan who despises Man Utd) and that's Man Utd's George Best...
Please react to the prime gareth bale, one of The most speedfull players of all time

@@charliecosta3971 i don't said he is england
Check out another Manchester United player ..
For his passing and making the team tick
Paul scholars if you haven't already
Ronaldo de Assis Moreira, commonly known as Ronaldinho Gaúcho or simply Ronaldinho. is the best player ever, i don't care who says he's not, they are wrong
Liverpool’s Mo Salah. That is all.
Doesn't show half of how good he was.
This video didn't showcase Rooney aswell as it could. He had loads more impressive goals than the video would make you believe and it missed out his passing ability.
Watch Wilfred Zaha!!!
This comp was shite, left out 90% of his best goals and all of his best assists.
Rooney sacrifice himself for the team, so often.
Rooney was a bulldozer. Always gave it his all when he was out on the field. By the end of game opposition players didnt know if it was a football match or boxing.
Train with a tennis ball if you can control a small ball the bigger one will be easier
I take you got Gascogne coming up at some point.
react to german players later) they're something else. . .
Jogging will train your touch naturally
a jogging dribble is a much better fundamental than a walking dribble, bring slowing down and speeding up from there. 70% of the game is at jogging pace with the ball, so that's the speed and dynamic you should focus on.
Its different with young kids, I would say start with walking the ball, then jog, as they will absorb it like a sponge, but with Adults, IMO its about building a few fundamentals and going from there. Also focus on your dominant foot, get that decent and you will find the other foot gets better in that time naturally so when and if you want to train it you can, 1 foot IS enough though
Other things to train:
Trapping= Trapping/controlling the ball on the ground (and eventually in the air), this is about trying to absorb the balls force. Along the ground get fully in front of the ball and trap with you instep. with your dominant foot
Side Foot pass=,Using the instep/arc of your dominant foot most basic of all passes, if you can do this at least decent , and control a ball on the ground, you can play football
Laces= striking the ball as a shot , head over the ball when you make contact (keeps the shot lower) follow through completely, laces like kicking a field goal, try to make sure *head over ball, *good balance *smooth follow through in a straight line
Wall training= 1 person enough space to kick a ball about and a wall you can bounce the ball off. practice shooting trying to hit spots on the wall, but also try and control the rebounds, This trains ALL of the above, also aerial, reading of ball movement/spin etc etc etc etc, best singular drilling you can possibly do, in theory you could train a player from this alone, and a good way to turn it into a game by yourself. f you know someone else who plays, then 1 becomes 2 and no wall needed
If you start getting the hang of this, start trying to juggle the ball , this develops aerial skill and your over all touch
Dribbling, in and out of cones dominant foot at first and then try and bring your other foot in as you get better
Heading is a matter of timing jumps and following through to direct header with head/neck and shoulder rotation
That's my basic crash course (I am 41 have been playing on and off in teams since 5 years old,and started kicking a ball at 2 years old)
Thanks for sharing! I would say I have been practicing at a slow jog. I have practiced with a wall once and my accuracy is not good at all right now. I’m sure it will improve with repetition
This video honestly did not do him justice
YOU SHOULD REACT TO PAOLO MALDINI I DONT THINKN YOU HAVE REACTED TO LOT OF DEFENDERS
Hey, you should react to the most scandalous match ever, the biggest robbery in history it was in 2009 Chelsea vs Barcelona in champions league, trust me it is choking.
