Literally both 15-1 (at the time) and each loss was a win on the others record. It was the most even matchup and nobody expected it to be the five round stand up war it was. Both of those guys had primarily JUST been great grapplers. This is why Dana is pushing the rematch because nobody had came close to beating him like Colby.
And Covington has improved on that style of fight. He's faster and sharper when he plants his feet and trades. Covington today could most likely have finished Usman of then. But Kamaru has Trevor Whitman now and Covington is going to regret planting his feet to trade. The rematch is going to be a glorious rivalry killer I cannot wait for it.

Had the ref done his job Colby would've had a split decision draw. It would've been 3-2 - Usman 3-2 Colby 2-2- draw. Usman had gotten a 10/9 for the knock down in the fith but with the illegal strikes it would've been a 9/9 goving a split draw.
It was such a evenly matched fight. Both guys, great wrestlers, decent strikers. The only difference was that kamaru sticks to the fundamental jab while colby throws loopy hooks. This fight was so close that in the end it went to who has the better chin conditioning. This is why we need a rematch. Let's see if colby has improved his striking or not, because usman clearly has, under whittman. And if colby hasn't then usman will clearly take the second w.

No m8, the factor that has usman winning this fight is simply the last exchange in the 3rd, it broke covingtons jaw so it was 2-1 Covington for the first 3 rounds ( colby won 1 and 2, kamaru the 3rd ) then colby won the 4th with his broken jaw and was even winning the 5th until he got clipped on the jaw that makes him wobbled and then got dropped twice but if Goddard hasn't stopped the fight and let it go the distance Colby was winning he would get the Unanimous decision or a majority decision. First shots were back of the head. You can see the ref say something and usman redirects his punches to the ear. So clearly the ref said something about watching the head and he readjusted. And the ear punches were perfectly legal. A lota guys hit there when they hammer fist in a position like that

Everytime kamura got in trouble, he claimed an illegal kick or a poke in his eye.. But other then deception it was a good fight.

The winning factor in this fight was those body shots from usman. They slowed colby down big time
No m8, the factor that has usman winning this fight is simply the last exchange in the 3rd, it broke covingtons jaw so it was 2-1 Covington for the first 3 rounds ( colby won 1 and 2, kamaru the 3rd ) then colby won the 4th with his broken jaw and was even winning the 5th until he got clipped on the jaw that makes him wobbled and then got dropped twice but if Goddard hasn't stopped the fight and let it go the distance Colby was winning he would get the Unanimous decision or a majority decision. Think about it those body shots was clearly effective n i think Usman should do it again in the rematch but lets be honest besides those body shots, jabs n 15% of usmans combination nothing was effective on Colby cuz he was blocking or dodging it while he clipped kamaru many times, trust me kamaru was rocked badly sometimes thx to his solid body he never got dropped

First shots were back of the head. You can see the ref say something and usman redirects his punches to the ear. So clearly the ref said something about watching the head and he readjusted. And the ear punches were perfectly legal. A lota guys hit there when they hammer fist in a position like that

Not to mention none of those shots that landed on Colby when he was on the ground inflicted enough damage on him to show any signs of being hurt or losing consciences.
