I found your channel yesterday and have been binge watching to catch up. Love it! My husband and I are planning to FIRE in the next year or two (he is early 50s and I am mid 40s.) We have been working towards this for the past 5 years and almost there. We live in South Africa and FIRE is almost a completely alien concept here. My husband was born in the UK and we both lived there for several years in our 20s and 30s so its great to see your content as most of the channels are US or Canadian. We love to travel but will probably travel from a home base for the first few years once we retire. (We have 3 dogs!) You have some of the most useful, relatable info for us that I have come across to date. Really appreciate it and looking forward to more videos!
Very helpful info, especially the tips about the virtual SIM card and the Fire Stick--thanks guys! Sarah, it's good to see that you're feeling better. I too am interested in your pre-travel budgeting. Looking forward to your videos from Greece!
Hey Lori! Yes we are disappointed that we can't take advantage of the virtual sim card but hope we help others get the right phones for world travel. We are going to be talking money while in Athens so hopefully you will find that helpful. Thank you for your kind support. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
I love the packing cubes. They keep you organized & you can easily find things. Sometimes I have a list inside, of what goes in that cube. Also, when moving into a new apartment, I put the cubes into dresser drawers & keep replacing things back into the appropriate cube. Then when you move on, it’s just a matter of putting the cubes back into your suitcase. You can be packed & out the door in 15 minutes!
Hey Barbara! Yes the packing cubes are absolutely wonderful. For example, our Airbnb in Athens, there is literally nowhere for us to store our clothes, so they are just operating as our wardrobe/ chest of drawers, we feel very organised. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Still catching up with your earlier videos! This was a really good one. Loved the point about safety and "good people". I have valued the "kindness of strangers" in my travels around the world. But as you have said, there are people who will take advantage so we still must be street smart. You two do your research, so you know before you land at an airport what it should cost for the cab into town. That is another reason your videos with cost expectations by location are so valuable! Thanks for all this! Gordon
Hey Gordon! Welcome to the comments section! Really appreciate your view as you have clearly been there and done it. People seem incredible the world over, we are loving that aspect more than anything in our travels. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
I've been on the road for 6 years now, travelling full time is totally different in reality. I have travelled on a budget though, so have really had to watch the pennies. Don't be put off by Hostels, yes I have stayed in dorms, but many do have private rooms and they are not all loud party places full of gap year teens. As for packing... I only have a 40ltr Osprey and a 26Ltr front pack. I've never checked them in on a flight so take them on plane with me (checked bags add up over the years). Anyway, enjoy Greece, hopefully the weather is better there.
Hey Kerbside! Well what can we say.... Our admiration goes out to you, a 40litre Osprey and a front pack, WOW! Nice work. Thanks for the advice, we will try hostels in the right countries for sure. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Just found your channel yesterday. Have already binge-watched quite a few. Very informative and I am enjoying your humor and chemistry. Our plan was to FIRE in 2026, but getting very impatient and want to pull the trigger now. I will wait until we hit our magic number. In the meantime, looking forward to watching your videos for inspiration and guidance. Thank you. Stay Safe!!
I forgot to add this to my previous comment, and something I've been wanting to ask since the first bump across your channel: How DID you make the mental math of deciding to "sell everything to travel the world"? For most people, (raises hand) having a home is the epitome of feeling safe. You have a safe-harbor location. A place that no matter what happens, you can fall back into and know it is yours to castle-in, should the worst of things occur. Yet you guys chose to trade a known-value, and physically quantifiable commodity (home and possessions), for the subjective value of experiences and memories of future years that may / may not happen dependent of what year of pandemic-apocalypse we're talking about. That is pretty flippin' brave of both of you and we can't comment how admiring we are of the moxy that it took to pull that decision -trigger. Can you do a video that walks us through the timeline, considerations and "THE moment" when you knew it was gonna' happen? Can you make that happen soon? Like .... tonight? Cool, I'll get the bottle of wine uncorked and will be waiting ;-)
Hey Dardin! This is a stunning question and we are making a little addition to our channel in the new year (you will see something new on the 5th Jan) and we will use this question to feature in that video! So hold tight man.... get the cork back in that bottle and save it til the new year.... What am I saying?!?! it's Christmas! Drink it, and another and another.... but we will get to your question on the 5th Jan, you can be assured of that. :-) Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Hey guys, We sure are getting organised, which is a new feeling for us. We're so sorry to hear about your news, stay positive and keep tight, you'll get through it all together. Hope we see you out on the road again sometime soon the other side of this. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Hey Michael! Yes we are loving the slow travel, this is our groove and we love it. We are changing our thinking on stuff and minimalism, our feeling was to reduce down to what we need and that was IT... nothing more. But we now see it differently, we are not misers and don't need to be so we reduce down to what we need, then if there is something else that we need, we buy it. Our only concern and what we always repeat to each other if we are in a shop is.... "You bought it, you carry it." :-) Thanks for getting in touch, we appreciate it. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
You are guys are really good at this! And unlike many couples doing travel videos, you two are very pleasant, entertaining and informative! Love your videos! Thanks!
You two must have peeked at our To Do List....as all the things on it , we're covered off by you both in this video ha ha ha, so thanks for that! Great tips about that new feature in phones with a virtual SIM. Safe travels and we cannot wait to see your next vlog. And Darren says don't worry about packing that bloody scarf, put it in the bin instead 😅🤣😂
Hey you two! Yes the virtual sim, we kick ourselves for investing in new phones before we started our travel, would love to have phones that could do that for us! Darren.... he needs to know that I get both the warmth from the wool and the warmth from knowing that it is borne of a team of winners :-) :-) Best wishes Neil & Sarah
So glad to see Sarah feeling so much better! Thanks for this week’s video. As we prepare to start our travels, we would love to see what tech you have with you now versus what you originally showed us when you first started out (like, how did that water bottle with UV work out for you? Is it still with you on your current travels?). Thanks for the Firestick tip! I wonder if Roku or Apple TV have the same issues as Chrome?
Hey Ashley! Well... the water bottle hasn't made it out with us this time, it was a bit too much of a luxury item and we are just so short of space. We'll ensure we talk about our tech over the next few weeks and there is another little surprise in a couple of weeks and may look to feature it there. Thanks for your kind support. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
@@2GoRoam Could you create an electronics playlist? I almost bought the water bottle, so I'm glad I waited. Was the "short of space" the only reason? Did it work?
Hey Phil! Oh that sounds great, we are going to be getting into that and we are trialling something that will give us more chance to talk money. Make sure you comment on those videos so we know that people are interested in that kind of content. Best wishes Neil & Sarah

Hey Nancy! Absolutely we will, that is three votes now, so we will devote one of our Athens videos to the finance and investment side of how we did things. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Really great tips! I love packing and compression cubes. I have never heard of virtual SIM cards but that’s brilliant. Glad you are feeling better Sarah!
Hey Melissa! Yes, we are really jealous of our friends who can use a virtual simcard. Hope you are both well, we miss you like crazy!!!! Best wishes Neil & Sarah xxx
Sarah you look wonderful! So glad you’re feeling better. 😁. I so thoroughly enjoy your videos. So informative! I can’t wait to see Greece through your eyes.
Hey Lorrie! Yes Sarah is doing great now and is up early dong her exercise routine! Thanks so much, we are planning to up the informative content from Jan 1st, we are trialling something and would love to hear your opinion once we get going (you will see something new on the 5th Jan). Best wishes Neil & Sarah
You two are delightful! I'm glad you're feeling better Sarah. I love your hair. Thanks for the tips. I look forward to your next video and will check out "YOU." You both are entertaining.
Hi guys, yes would be great to know more about how you’ve structured your finances to do the 10’years travelling. Would love to hear more about the 4% rule and how higher inflation may affect your withdrawal rates.., especially if annual returns are less than 10% eg inflation level or just above. Great videos, can’t wait for the next one 😀👍
Hey Ian! So sorry we missed replying to your comment. We struggle with this sometimes, you will see that we 'Hearted' your comment and that then appears in our view that we have replied and as such your comment is removed from our To Do list. Sarah just found it... she is good at that kinda thing. So... this is a brilliant question. So good in fact that do you mind if we don't reply here and that we add it to our new Wednesday format video? I have taken the details and I can give you our assurances we will answer this on video in January. Possibly towards the end of the month but this will be a feature question. Is that ok? Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Great job paring down on the shoes! Neil, I think you should have one pair of dress pants for traveling, not just a pair of nice jeans. Slow travelers often take stuff out of the boxes to pack them ie. your covid tests. 5/10 for Sarah's case yet she has space in hers :D Yep, if you need something badly enough, you can always buy it! Yep, Firestick is the best for traveling. I've added "You" to my list, thanks! A washing machine is also a must for me if staying longer than a week or two. TIP: when in a warm country where you don't need a dryer, staying in a place that has a drying rack is most handy. That way you can dry your laundry inside when necessary. Covid has made it necessary for us to be fluid is what I tell people. Your plan for accomodation sounds like a good one. "Be you," good advice. Greece, I can't wait! - Anne
Hey Anne! Well what can I say... I left the dress pants at home so hopefully I'll be ok. With regard to boxes, we read somewhere that any kind of drugs should be kept in their boxes as proof that they are genuine and that you aren't bringing some kind of contraband into the country but to be honest, traveling in Europe that shouldn't be a concern for us, in fact I started removing things from their boxes this morning on your advice here. Yes we are remaining very fluid in our plans, the world is a crazy place at the moment eh. Thanks as ever for your kind support. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Spread the word about your channel with some folks who are thinking of 2-3-5 years on the road / air / sea after I told them what you are doing and mentioned "geoarbitrage" (gave credit after a few seconds of looking smart). These videos are truly excellent and you're hitting all the great points ---- I'm anonymous on here so asking if USD$3.5MM would cover around 5 years on the road while also keeping a house (paid for but utilities // property tax // upkeep of yard etc cost around $12-15K pa) in US to return to?
Sarah going from 7 pairs of shoes to 3 is an automatic 10/10 on packing. Well done both of you on downsizing! As I’m watching this on my phone, Tim’s working in the other room. When you mentioned your one dressy event in 6 months, he shouted “Amy’s birthday”! If that was indeed the event in question, sorry!
Hey Tim & Amy! Indeed Tim was 100% correct lol, that was our fancy dressing night of 2021 and we loved it. What a fantastic night that was with amazing people! Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Please share the financial Planning details. It would be so beneficial for us to commit to this type of travel in the next 1-2 yrs. life is unpredictable so we don’t want to procrastinate due to stress of do we have “enough” money and miss out altogether! I don’t understand what/how you intend to have a home after travel if you’ve sold it to do the travel? Australia is not a cheap place for houses or rentals so if we were completely out of the property market for 5-10yrs for example, we would struggle to buy back in….. thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and experience. Steve and Tanya
Hey Tanya! We will do, seems to be a lot of interest so you will see that coming in the next few weeks. We know all too well about the concept of 'enough' and it is a fearful time to just cut and do this kind of thing isn't it. Interesting point about the property, obviously the UK is in a similar place, but we have a view on that and we will share in that video too! Thanks as ever for your kind support. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Hey Jeff! Sounds good. We are really going to be delving into that , really hope you like it. Do let us know on those videos won't you. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
I'm happy to see Sarah is well again. I would suggest a healthier, nutritious intake of food. I've traveled quite a bit in my life and staying healthy is important.
Curious what you're using for video editing, software and hardware. We'll be following in your footsteps in the spring. Thanks for allowing us to tag along and wishing you a wonderful Christmas!
Hey Abroad and Abroad! Thanks for joining us on our journey we are over the moon to have you here as you are planning to do similar, do keep us posted! We are using Davinci Resolve and cannot recommend it highly enough. We are currently using the free version as we haven't seen the need to upgrade to Studio (yet). We do have a powerful laptop and that is recommended... so we have a Dell XPS15 with 32GB Memory. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
I am also interested if you know any more about Roku vs Chrome etc. Also any info on your budgeting you are willing to share would be greatly appreciated. Also interested to know what types of suitcases you use.
Hey Elliott! Thanks for taking the time to get in touch. We think that Chromecast is kind of a non-starter as you are unable to install a VPN onto it, we understand that Roku is similarly challenged. An Amazon Firestick seems a no brainer. With regard to Budgeting, you will be very pleased at what we are launching in the new year! We are starting by going deeper (much deeper) into our budgeting from the 1st January. Let us know what you think when you see it. At present we are using American Tourist cases but we will change them to something else when we finish this six months of travel. Thanks again. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Great tips! We had the same experience with Google Chromecast - doesn’t work well at all. We would also be interested in your pre-retirement info. Thanks!
Hey Betsy! Thank you for getting in touch. Ok, that is two of you that have mentioned the pre-retirement info so we will get something into our Athens content. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
We love Roku in this house. Shame about your washing in the rain. Yes please re your pre retirement info. Hope you are loving Greece - look forward to seeing the sights.
Hey Alegna! We had to bring the washing indoors and drape it over anything we had... clothes everywhere! Yes, we will include the pre-retirement planning while in Athens. Thanks as ever for your very kind support. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
My husband and I travel every winter and we say that as long as we have the “3 Ps” we’re good - prescriptions, passports and plastic (I.e. credit cards).
if you want to join forces on setting up an app for people who need washing machines, I'm up for pooling our resources LOL. My biggest nightmare is washing clothes in the shower for weeks on end! Re sim cards, it's funny as in 5 years of full-time travel I've never needed one... UNTIL NOW!! Simply because in Ukraine I needed one in order to book my covid vax. Generally wifi hasn't always been great at airports as you said but I always pop to outside Starbucks or Burger King and they always work fine. When I started I had four jackets, they soon went the way of the dinosaurs lol
Hey David! Haha that is cool, we should do that app. Funny what things are the biggest issues in this lifestyle eh, and you know better than most! Admire that you coped without a simcard until now, not sure we have the chops to do that, you are intrepid! :-) Nice advice about Burger Kind and Starbucks. We are down to two jackets each, which is too many but we are able to be in the height of winter as we head north of Athens so we prepped by spending our hard earned money at George @ Asda on new coats lol. Good luck as you move on from Odessa! Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Looking to see if you can blog about how much of a nest egg one needs to do this year round until we parish and how you came up with that amount? Also would love to know where do we park this nest egg, currently banks pay 0.05% while inflation is raging at 5%! Anything you can mention to help us - we are hoping to take this leap beginning of 2024 less than two years. Also not to get personal but how old are you guys! Love your straight forward videos would love to hear from you - with love from Canada!
Great video - my favorite so far. Firstly, I'm glad to see that Sarah has fully recovered. This was exactly the type of information I was looking for when I started "following" you :) - great traveling tips (and detailed traveling costs). I'm actually in the process of saving as much as I can to, hopefully, to do the same in a few years. Any tips and information on saving and investing in the UK would be welcome. Also, how do you organise your accounts and withdrawals while traveling for 10 years? Do you need to return to the UK every so often to continue to be British residents for tax purposes? Or is there a tax code for nomads in the UK? "See" you in Greece :)
Hey Maria! This is a really useful comment thank you, certainly as we are looking to get more into the nuts and bolts of travel in our trial series that we are starting in the new year on wednesdays where we plan to really break down the numbers involved in what we are doing. Saving and investing in the UK, yep we are going to cover that and we'll also share how disorganised we are with withdrawals and also the tax residency in the UK. Thanks as ever for your very kind support Maria. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Hi guys. So glad Sarah is doing well. Yes would be great to know more about how you’ve structured your finances and to hear about the 4% rule and how higher inflation may affect your withdrawal rates.., especially if annual Index Fund returns are less than 10% eg at inflation level or just above. Great videos, look forward to the next one!
Hey Michelle! Yes Sarah is doing good now thank goodness. Well you will be in luck as we are going to tackle that... We have a bit of an announcement on next Saturdays video so look out for that. Thanks for the kind comment. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
@@2GoRoam Thanks guys. Am I allowed to ask a couple of personal questions? Understand if you don't want to share but it helps me understand the context of your life position :). Please politely decline if too prying. Here goes: 1) how old are you both? Approx. is great too :) 2) a) the total pot of money you have saved up to fund your lifestyle, and b) how much in total can draw out each year to fund your lifestyle using the 4% rule? Not to say that is your travel budget as you would flex it upwards and downwards depending on where you are. Thank you kindly and understand that some of this may be in your upcoming finance video :)
Hey Michelle, Personal questions! How dare you :-) I've just accepted a connection request from Ian on Linkedin, be better to take this offline there. I will drop Ian a line on there now. That ok?
I’d like to know if you are still using the same health insurance company while traveling or now with Covid and for hospital emergencies? have you switched it up?
Hey Julie! Keep watching, we have quite some news about health insurance coming up in a video in a few weeks time. We have that situation where we have needed urgent medical assistance. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Hey Ivan! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! We don't use virtual sims but our friends that do similar use and are positive about there experience with Flexiroam. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Hey Adventurous! That is a really good question and starting in around 3 weeks, we are flexing the content of our videos to how we saved and how to achieve this lifestyle. Hopefully you will appreciate that change when it appears onscreen. Thanks as ever. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Hey Adventurous! We seem to have a good amount of interest on the money side so are going to devote a video to that in the next month. We are living from our investments entirely. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Hey Freya! You are welcome to comment on EVERY video with this kind of thing lol. What can I say... Sarah and I are both focusing on fitness at the moment, so hopefully it is having an impact! Thank you so much! Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Wonderful info! We're still a couple years out, but now when we take a vacation we treat it as an opportunity to practice and say to ourselves "If this happened during slow travel, what would we do?" We pack sooo much lighter than we used to and I go over the Air B&B details with a fine tooth comb to make sure it has everything we want. We're trying to learn from our mistakes now and hopefully the transition will be a smoother one when we finally get on the road. Can't wait to see Athens! : )
Hey Mel! That is a great thing to do, treat your travels as a practice for slow travel. We constantly make mistakes but we always treat them as learning opportunities! Best wishes Neil & Sarah

You two are delightful! I'm glad you're feeling better Sarah. I love your hair. Thanks for the tips. I look forward to your next video and will check out "YOU." You both are entertaining.
Hey Kimberly!
Thank you so much, I am feeling much better and thank you for the kind compliment, I really appreciate it.

That’s exactly what I’d like information on👍🏻
Is that ok?
Best wishes
Neil & Sarah
Hey Phil, sorry we missed this, see the reply we just sent to Ian.
@@2GoRoam no worries 😉 & yes good idea to include in future video 👍🏻

Please share the financial
Planning details.

Neil & Sarah
I like your video. And am interested in the finances part.
Hey Jeff!
Sounds good. We are really going to be delving into that , really hope you like it. Do let us know on those videos won't you.

I'm happy to see Sarah is well again. I would suggest a healthier, nutritious intake of food. I've traveled quite a bit in my life and staying healthy is important.
Hey Heidi!
Now we are in Athens we are finding that eating healthy is easy to do. Such amazing food down here :-)

Best travel videos around! 🙌🙌
Hey Kit!
Wow thank you! We hope to do even better as we start to get into our stride on the next leg of travels :-)

Best wishes
Neil & Sarah
Best wishes
Neil & Sarah
We love Roku in this house. Shame about your washing in the rain. Yes please re your pre retirement info. Hope you are loving Greece - look forward to seeing the sights.
Hey Alegna!
We had to bring the washing indoors and drape it over anything we had... clothes everywhere! Yes, we will include the pre-retirement planning while in Athens. Thanks as ever for your very kind support.

My husband and I travel every winter and we say that as long as we have the “3 Ps” we’re good - prescriptions, passports and plastic (I.e. credit cards).
Love that!
Best regards,
Neil & Sarah
How do you get your monthly prescriptions filled while traveling?
if you want to join forces on setting up an app for people who need washing machines, I'm up for pooling our resources LOL.

Sara, How do you find people to cut & highlight your hair??? I’m living now in San Miguel de Allende & I also have short hair!

@@2GoRoam Thanks guys.
Am I allowed to ask a couple of personal questions? Understand if you don't want to share but it helps me understand the context of your life position :). Please politely decline if too prying.
Here goes: 1) how old are you both? Approx. is great too :)
2) a) the total pot of money you have saved up to fund your lifestyle, and b) how much in total can draw out each year to fund your lifestyle using the 4% rule? Not to say that is your travel budget as you would flex it upwards and downwards depending on where you are.
Thank you kindly and understand that some of this may be in your upcoming finance video :)
Hey Michelle,
Personal questions! How dare you :-) I've just accepted a connection request from Ian on Linkedin, be better to take this offline there. I will drop Ian a line on there now. That ok?
Hey Michelle!
This is going to be part of one of our questions in the January Wednesday videos. Probably the 3rd of those.

How do you do it? What kind of yearly budget?
How or where do you get your medical prescriptions filled or sent to?
I’d like to know if you are still using the same health insurance company while traveling or now with Covid and for hospital emergencies? have you switched it up?
Hey Julie!
Keep watching, we have quite some news about health insurance coming up in a video in a few weeks time. We have that situation where we have needed urgent medical assistance.

Hi guys, thanks for a very useful video. Having researched virtual SIM cards, is there one or two you could recommend for worldwide travel? Thanks.
Hey Ivan!
Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! We don't use virtual sims but our friends that do similar use and are positive about there experience with Flexiroam.
Best regards,
Neil & Sarah
Yes! Please do the money video.
Hey Carolina!
We are working on a series right now.
Best regards,
Neil & Sarah
Just wanted to let you know that the VPN link is not working for me. You might want to check it when you have time.
What’s going on with the wall behind you? Is that where you’re staying?
Would love to find out how you saved the money and how much you saved
Hey Adventurous!
That is a really good question and starting in around 3 weeks, we are flexing the content of our videos to how we saved and how to achieve this lifestyle. Hopefully you will appreciate that change when it appears onscreen.
Thanks as ever.
Best wishes
Neil & Sarah
Thanks for sharing. We really like to know how much money you saved up to be able to travel for 10 years. Are you living on income from investments?
Hey Adventurous!
We seem to have a good amount of interest on the money side so are going to devote a video to that in the next month. We are living from our investments entirely.
Best wishes
Neil & Sarah
Neil, have you lost weight? You are looking really healthy and slimmer in the face.
Hey Freya!
You are welcome to comment on EVERY video with this kind of thing lol. What can I say... Sarah and I are both focusing on fitness at the moment, so hopefully it is having an impact! Thank you so much!

Best wishes
Neil & Sarah
Come on, how did you save the money and structure it?
