Thanks Scotty! I am intrigued and will try it very soon. This may be difficult to follow... I used to play rugby and found throwing a long accurate spin pass (in rugby that's a low two handed pass) difficult where my left hand was in the traditional placement under the ball. But throwing a REVERSE pass where my left hand was on top of the ball was easy and had a more powerful, longer and more accurate trajectory. I took up tennis at 50 and amazed my friends when, after struggling to get any joy with a traditional one handed weak backhand, I 'invented' a hugely unconventional backhand technique where my hand is inverted (like the rugby pass my body is almost facing away from the target). Effectively, my right hand is acting in a similar way to your left hand Scotty - not a weak 'back of the hand' action. I christened this my "Reverse Thrust'.
I remember the Date Line show. Were you also on a talk show? I never seen any information on your grip after the show. This may help me I had my little and ring finger crushed off on my left hand but were reattached but now having pain in my middle finger. I will watch and see if I can use the grip. Thank you.
Absolutely astounding! That was indeed a miracle to have witnessed. I'm old enough (73) to remember the Dateline show, but didn't see that one till now. I'm on board with this 99% as we speak! I might try that grip today playing short shots in the back if the wather holds here near Detroit.
Also, when I played water polo there is a backhanded shot that is very powerful with your hand inverted and thumb down. We used it to take shots at the goal. Anyway very interesting. Love your videos.
That's really amazing! I thought I had heard of you in the 90's in a magazine but now I'm pretty sure it was that dateline show. I'm going to try this. I'm a decent golfer currently a 12 at age 70 but 30 years ago I was a 6 and I still hit it pretty well.
I may try this, only because, I have some nerve damage on my LH, My index and my thumb are both hard to use in the conventional way , can't have my right hand touching my left thumb. my grip has to be ten finger, baseball grip. This will be interesting for me.
I can see how this concept may work for more of an abbreviated swing style, like a punch shot, similar to the second golfer in this video. I do think most will have difficulty with trying to make a full swing. Overreaching with a wrist hinge in that direction can be painful. Just my opinion from trying this myself. I'm not as flexible as you seem to be.
Scotty, I tried your grip but need lots more practice. I met a young man about 30 years ago who had your grip. He did not play very well but he said his name was Scott
Still not convinced. The clips from the Dateline show did not demonstrate enough to prove your technique. You keep dangling a carrot. Seems like an infomercial/medicine show sales pitch. And again; I've watched all your videos and tried the grip. I can't do it. Not possible. Keep trying. Maybe you'll convert some of us.
@@scottysgolfgrip I have done a bunch of wrist rolls. I can’t see how u take the club all the way back. And even touch your back in that one video. My lead thumb comes off the club in the backswing and I can’t get my wrist to bend back like that. I’m seriously trying. Not knock this. What do u suggest.

I remember those 2 worst avid golfers in Golf Digest at the time. So glad someone was able to help them, Well done Scotty.
I've just discovered your channel and am intrigued, will follow with interest.

This is an amazing story. Thank you for sharing.
As for me, the grip doesn't feel right. However, I enjoy listening and learning.

Scotty. I am curious weather the 2 worlds worse golfers you taught continued to use your grip and if so, did they improve dramatically?
If you want to email me, I can answer your question.
Truly inspirational
I like that I hit the ball with more accuracy, but haven’t been able to master the hands at the top of the backswing. What does the top look like? 🎉
Please look for this Fridays video drop.

It only took me less than 10 minutes to get a ginormous blister on my hand web.
You’re doing something wrong. Enough said.
Try chipping and putting with the grip change WOW!!
Keep it up… The more you work with it low and slow you may move up to your approach shots then your driver. Good luck.
I'm interested in trying it but i can't get my arm to bend that way do i have to do exercises first

Hey Scotty! Where did you find this video from Dateline? I'd love to watch the whole thing. The video was both educational AND entertaining.
We actually did two shows and they gave me copies. Sorry, I don’t know where else to get them.
I am not to computer savy do you have link to other videos
