He played it note for note, with the perfect tone.....and the same soul...My God!
This could be the best live performance of 2022
Almost, but the next concert even better, 😳
100% I would love to see Wolf cover Hang ‘em High. That opening riff is ridiculous.
its kind of sad. music is dead
@@looking_33 nope not at all, music and rock is very alive and well. Check out Maneskin, The Warning and Dirty Honey.
@@looking_33 Not a lot of good rock music lately. But great music never dies. 😝🇺🇸🤘🏻🎸
The mighty Wolfgang Van Halen!
👍
The DNA is strong in this one........
This went a long way in helping Eddie and Taylor fans heal. We needed this
Great version of one of the BEST Van Halen songs of all time. On Fire. What a gem.
I fell in love with VH at the very young age of 7. I didn’t “get” On Fire back then. It was the only song on VH I that o didn’t love. Some time in the mid 80’s it finally clicked with me. It’s been a Top 5 all-time VH song ever since. So good! And this version is phenomenal. Great job by Wolfy especially. But the whole band played it great.
So cool that they played a deep track like that. I bet 75-80% of the audience had no idea what they were playing.
Wolfgang’s tribute to Taylor and his pop! Just fantastic!
Damn. I have NEVER heard anyone play EVH exactly like EVH. I cannot tell that it isn't EVH. That kid learned well
He sounds good... though the recording is shit so it's hard to really hear anything clearly. But do some youtube searches... there are some REALLY good guitarists out there today that grew up on EvH and have been studying and breaking down and learning his moves... and his sound... and can really nail it.
This song he nailed
@@Big_Island_Boi There's a certain inherent time feel to Eddies playing, he was laser precise when it came to rhythm playing/locking with the band, but his lead stuff had this... Fluidity to it. I've never heard anybody nail like Wolfie did here, and I've heard quite a few people play Eddies stuff really well. Getting the tone, learning how to use it, the techniques, all not easy and very commendable to become adept at (hell, I can't do half the shit Eddie was capable of, and I went to school for this), but Wolfie was literally born into it. By far the closest to 1978 I've heard anybody get
This makes me so happy to see WVH playing like EVH.
Me two
Too bad he refuses to do it after this concert.
@@wob6776i mean he’s not jukebox
I get his frustration with always being viewed in relation to his father
Always cool when he pulls out some EVH stuff tho
@@samouellette5130 I agree, I just always thought the Van Halen legacy deserved better than wolf giving it his sendoff at someone else's drummer's tribute concert and him declaring that the last time. Doesn't seem fitting for the impact of VH
Justin 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Absolutely smashed it that day!
He nailed every note of this song.
Monster bass player monster drum player and now he's got all his dad's licks and tricks on the guitar wolf Dad would be very proud of you right now you're unbelievable
I bet this would make billions if it toured the world... Those pipes on Justin, the magic of Wolfie's fingers, Dave Grohl's star power and presence... Amazing.
DAMN!!!! Wolf and Hawkins nailed it..... It makes me so happy to see Hawkins getting the attention he deserved. That man was criminally underrated.
I hope this entire concert is released in 4k Blu Ray one day.
Damn! Do I dare say it! He sounds just like his Dad!! Wow! I’m very impressed!🤟😎✌️👍🤘
Van Halen has never died and never will
Josh Freeze is a true journey-man dude is a machine.
I was never an EVH fan, his son kicked me in my face and made me realize I was totally wrong, Wolfgang is by far the best progeny ever. Rock on WVH. Thank you very much
Wolfgang is a genious. Like father like son.
Justin Hawkins did a damn fine job on this. Of course, Wolfgang is an amazing player. What a great version!
This was the best pick of VH for sure, and Wolfie nailed it!!
Edward van Halen is and was asuperb guitar player, and on fire is my favorite song of many.
My fav DLR van halen song and seeing wolf play this is outstanding
Everyone talks about out Panama and Hot for Teacher but he fucking killed it on this. It was literally 1978 reproduced.
Yep...miss Eddie dearly....BUT...we have Wolfie...Rock on brother 🤘🙏
Incredible. My favorite VH song and Wolfie nails it!
Justin Hawkins is one of the greatest rock vocalists alive today.
I’m sure where ever they are, Eddie and Taylor are enjoying this as much as we are.
I would love to see this lineup continue a VH tribute tour. And out of nowhere, Sammy and Michael stop the show and ask what they are doing. That would be the final act.
Wolfie is an amazing young Man. It's no secret that he's musically talented as his Father Eddie van Halen was🙏
His old man did say, if you think im good wait til you see wlofie
Love how the crowd was luke warm at the introduction and then Wolf just does the thing and wins them over.
Wolfie is bloody good
he said 'our good friend TAYLOR Hawkins' that's priceless
My favorite drum fill of all time...bum bum bum bum bedum bum
The two things I love the most about this moment in musical time:
Someone else trying to sing some of the greatest rock lyrics ever written (David Lee Roth) and the son of the greatest rock guitarist ever (Edward Van Halen) playing one of his father’s greatest compositions…what an absolute amazing moment in musical history…thank you Wolfgang 🙏
Wolfgang is the man! He is Van Halen!
He Is carrying the flag by doing his own thing. This is awesome.
@@kahmhalen4094 Eddie lives on! 🎸
❤VH FOREVER, Happy Birthday WOLFIE❤
Wow! Takes me back to 1978 and my 4th row seats at the Chicago International Amphitheatre when Van Halen "backed up" Black Sabbath! They opened with On Fire! Awesome rendition here. Hope Wolfgang does more of this!
Wolfie is on fire !
Wolfgang Van Halen Dave Grohl Josh Freese and Justin Hawkins nailed it
1st concert 1981 at the forum in la and they opened with On Fire! Never forget! Killer especially for an 8th grader who loved VH!
Wolf KILLED this as well as Hot For Teacher. Didn’t realize he had it in him. Blew me away.
My God that blood runs deep👍👍👍👍
Ok, this rips. Way to go fellas.
Right on wolf
He was asked to do Eruption and declined even though he can absolutely crush it. He said that belongs to Dad and no one else. Eddie did Eruption in 1 take! fucking crazy!
Damn,, he inherited his dad’s DNA! Wow,, couldn’t tell the difference in tone! Wolf Killed It!!!
WVH is a chip off the old block. He is the DNA of great guitar playing demonstrated to full capacity.
It's like listening to Jason Bonham play Zepp. That's as close as it can possibly get. What a celebration.
Stoked on the Olivia bass drum.
Just wicked! Wolf clearly has his fathers chops.
Like father like son🤘
I have to watch this pretty regular to remind myself this really happened!.....WOLFGANG!....Are you fucking kiddin' me!....Never thought we'd hear that song played with that intensity & feel again!
Back in the Day Van Halen would always open with this song. It’s a really fun song to play on guitar. I still do it every once in a while.
Just Fantastic !
Great illustration of how Dave blew out his chords!
Yep... This is how Dave did it... and once those chords were toast, he never sang the same again, sadly. I'm taking NOTHING away from Diamond Dave... Great vocalist, American rock icon, and rock and roll clown extraordinaire... Dave had a stage persona that just wouldn't quit. Total fucking monster... but in his later years, he'd lost a lot of his clarity and range. Made me sad, too. It isn't just the music, it was also the constant drinking hard alcohol...
😢❤😃🤘🏽🔥
Damn ! Wolfgang kicks Ass !!
Wolfsgsng is a beast on the guitar!!
Uncle Al - DLR -Michael Anthony and the Son of the KING on Guitar
I Want a Tribute Show for Pop
I’ve always been a fan of Wolfgang but dammmnnnn that boy can fuckin play !!!
They sound awesome!
Wolfgang Van Halen!!!
🤘
Rock in peace Taylor
It's definitely in his DNA.
Perfect
Absolutely LOVE this!!! Man. It’s just stunning all around. ❤️🔥🔥
Respect.
wow wolfgang is a great guitarist. no doubt.
Kick ass! Van Halen forever!❤
Esto es Rock ..
Wolf, you are a Bad Ass! Love.. it.....:)
Proud proud proud is Eddie in guitar godland!!!
No surprise! He's a Van Halen!
Your caption is incorrect. Josh Freese was a guest drummer at both of the tribute shows. He wasn't announced as the new drummer until May 2023.
He's the only one that would be able to do, what his dad has done, With no problem, You can't deny it,, It's in the jeans.. Note for note Lick for lick,, Van Halen lives.thank you Edward van halen.
There is such a shortage of decent singers around, example here.
i just want to hear Wolf play VH
This song performance was deleted from CBS programming; it may have been related to timing of the program itself.
he,s on tap
Wolf!
FULL SCALE REUNION . NEW ALBUM AND THE TOURING CONTINUES. VAN HALEN SHOULD GO ON. WOLFIE , MICHEAL , ALEX AND HAGER ,ROTH OR BOTH. I THINK EDDIE WOULD WANT HIS SON TO STEP INTO HIS SHOES AND CARRY THAT BAND ON AND FOR WOLFIE TO CREATE HIS OWN LEGACY AS HIS SUCCESSOR.
Maybe Satch could get some lessons from Wolf .
Wolf killed it. Rick Beato explains everything... check him out

God he is soooo good. It would have been epic to have Alex on the drums though. But ... whatever
Who is that on the drums? Is it Josh Freese?
Yes he is.
Good they lowered the audio on the vocals.
Hmmmm
Michael Anthony DLR Alex van Halen wolfiie would be interesting band
Damn!
He plays it better than pops!!!
Sorry Ed
I know you love it though ! 🥰
The touch is incredibly similar to EVH, the licks absolutely not...dozens of notes here and there missing.
Horrible bass heavy mix and a shame to exploit the death of Taylor w multiple concerts.. Wolf kicks ass tho .
Vocals are WEAK
