Having a dog is a lifetime commitment. Taking a dog to a "shelter" and dropping it off is one of the cruelest things someone can do. We have fostered a few dogs and have even adopted two of our fosters. I can't imagine life without them.

Having a dog is a privilege, not a right.

Most of us don't deserve that privilege. As good as we are to our pups, we get more than we give.

I fostered a rescue and then adopted her. She was abandoned once and that will never happen to her again.

I have 4 rescued dogs and love them endlessly.Your words are just what anyone with a soul, heart and sane mind would ever say. I don't understand the species I am born with. The older my dogs get, the more I want to be there for them. They need us even more when they start to weaken. No words can explain the kind of love dogs/ animals can give. What a shame for the ones that don't get it. Thank you so much for the purity of your soul, for being their voice in this insane world.

Years ago I had a boxer named FLASH. There were a few hard times but if it was a choice that I ate or my dog ate my dog always ate. If I had to go without because she needed something I went without. She's been gone around 25yrs now and I still miss her every day.❤❤❤❤❤. You and Chooch are very lucky to have each other ❤❤❤❤

I agree 💯 when you adopt/buy/rescue an animal that animal becomes your FAMILY. Just giving away a pet is like giving away your kid to me. And too many are dying in shelters, far too many 😢.

If you can’t take excellent care of them and provide for all their needs from the beginning to the end then just don’t have them at all. It takes years of constant dedication and it can also be expensive. They are not ‘throw-aways’ according to your convenience or inconvenience.

They need you the most when they get older, you have to do the right thing and stand by their side. This dog has given you their whole world, be there for them when they need you!!

I've had dogs and other animals my whole life. My last dog was going on 20 when he passed. Idk how anyone can not do right by there pet. I didn't have money to pay$700 for a nail trim (they needed to put him under cause of his age blood work ya da ya da ) so I did it myself. It wasn't easy... I'm 20 years older too but we did it. Vets charge sooo much and won't take payments make it so hard especially anyone on a fixed income or struggling by it's not right something needs to change ❤❤❤

You have to search, but there are vets who will work with you. In the Houston area there is a mobile vet that goes around to different locations and they do low cost vaccinations and exams. If your dog or cat needs more than that, they'll work with your budget.
You can also ask a veterinarian. If they don't accept payments, they usually know someone who does. I wish you the best!

Some people surrender their pet because they are going on vacation.
Some because their work schedule changed.
When you get a pet you make a commitment to take care of that pet.
My dog means the world to me and some friends have asked why she can't just stay home so that I can come to a party.
The simple answer is that I would rather be with that dog than be around THEM.
They don't have to like it - I didn't ask them to.
I have been a supportive friend and bought cookies and candy bars from their children.
I have put up with their children's bad behavior numerous times.
    I never said a word.
I didn't want to "go along" but I did.
My dog is a part my family and I choose to take care of her until the day she dies.
Some people should learn what it truly means to get a pet BEFORE they get a pet.

Hi, humans should be responsible for the care and welfare of their animals and dogs.
They should not be judged on who they are or what they look like .
Like us humans do not want to be judged.
Every dog is an individual, and its like raising children and the way they are raised. It's not the breed but bad ownership .
People should be responsible, and I, as a dog lover and owner, treat and care for my dogs the same as I would like to be treated.
Thee should be love ❤ not hate and respect, as they give loyalty respect and companionship and love back ❤ when treated in the right way .

Or unfortunately more with cats but they do it with dogs too they just dump them don't bring them to a shelters so they wander around on the streets. My biggest thing cuz if somebody moves and they can't take the animal with them for whatever reason they use. They can they just have to find a way. I have a friend who I was at least 10 years ago maybe I think I'm not sure how old her daughter is the oldest daughter is but drove in a van with her daughter pregnant and her fiance with three pitbulls from Massachusetts to Florida. Using the excuse I can't take them with me is not an excuse. I get there some extreme circumstances but if somebody has to move you find somewhere that takes some immediate thing that you don't have a lot of time find someone to watch over the fur baby for you until you find a place that accepts them I love my little fur baby I just lost on March 30th 14 year old cat I only had for 10 years. I feel like he would have been around longer if I didn't abandon him for 6 days because I fell and hurt myself was in the hospital.
