Because of your channel and your amazing videos, I have become a fan of Bluegrass. You guys bring out the best in an acoustic guitar. Oh, and also, there is something about a Yamaha Guitar.
Someone in the LIVE feed yesterday said "People don't collect Yamaha guitars, they collect Gibson and Martins"... Well they may start now... What many Americans may not know is Yamaha Musical Instruments have been around for more than 125 years. They have a rich history, maybe not here but they do.
People can be very dismissive over brands. I guess if you can only feel good by owning a Martin or Gibson that is your right. But lots of us buy according to what we hear. The FG9 is a luthier built gem. No apologies.
OK...you guys are having way too much fun! 🙂 It always makes me smile when you're smoking on a great tune like that! I think that's the best video you've ever done! 😛
Great stuff!! I got to play a Yamaha FG9 at Elderly instruments in Lansing Michigan, which is a not terribly far from me. I’m not a dreadnought guy, due to shoulder issues issues, but I had to try it and it blew my doors off!! I can’t wait to try the FS9!!
Wow - I’m moving into enjoying bluegrass more and more as I’m learning to play guitar, and this is great. The playing is one thing, but John’s voice is impressive as well. Nice work gentlemen!

The tops look so light in color/blonde. I thought Adirondack spruce was more yellow. I have an adi top and the color is more butterscotch. Furthermore, how do they get Adirondack spruce in Japan w/o adding a boatload (pun intended) to the cost?
This is the natural color of Adirondack but there are many things that contribute to why some guitars have a more yellow looking Adirondack. Adirondack actually starts with a very white color, then over time they yellow and darken naturally. Then the process of Thermo-Curing can give a new guitar a "baked" / more brown-yellow top. Finally some companies add toner to new guitars to give them the look of older guitars that have naturally yellowed. For Adirondack being purchased, we're honestly not too sure if they have any additional cost, especially considering that Adirondack goes to companies made in China such as Eastman and Blueridge. I'm fairly sure Yamaha has just as much tonewood buying power as other companies. Hopes this helps!

100%
My first guitar was a yamaha and now a favorite. They're just a great work horse.
@@chrishookins9780 My second guitar was a used Yamaha FG450SA in 1997, I still have it.

I played a couple of these at Morgan. They are the real deal. If everyone went in blindfolded, a lot would walk away with a Yamaha.
Those Yamaha's sound great!
Nice. Glad to see you pickin' & grinnin'.
Always!
👍Great song, great playing, great sounding guitars👍
Amazing y'all are top notch!!!

Yamaha made very nice and good sounding guitars!!!
Nicely done! I can only hope to ever play like either of you two. 👏🏻👍🥂.
Nice array of ETL Edwina's and Myrtle microphones!

Great picking. It's interesting to see those fret markers on Yamahas. I've only seen them on Michael Bashkin guitars before.
Great pickin!

Good job! Those guitars sound awesome, but boy are they pricey!

Yamaha guitars are a great but for the money but I've never been able to get past that ugly pickguard.
