The one thing I can't seem to understand in relation to the accusations being made is why the Sesame Street character gestured no to somebody else in the crowd prior to the girls and then continued on with the no gesture to the little girls. Was there other black kids or people in the crowd behind the black girls?
I also think that character was distracted and didn't even see the two little girls. I really feel sorry for the Sesame character, being accused of being racist. WTF there is real racism that should be dealt with and this is not one of them.
@@ryanlsorrell1983 sure I did and I already know that that's what was happening in the crowd prior to the girls. I don't know, it might be a real case, but a minor one. It's because of the constant crying wolf that we can't be sure. Did anyone get the actor's side of the story? Firstly, what does it matter if the person is black? Are you one of those people who don't even understand racism and say stuff like "I can't be racist because I have a black friend" or "black people can't be racist"? Secondly, considering your conservative view and excuses/sympathy for the accused and lack of sympathy for the children -- so I'd assume your claim about the person in the costume being black is not even true. I mean.. it could be.. but conservatives are notorious for receiving and spreading misinformation. You guys follow conservative / racism sympathizing Facebook groups that spread lies and tell you what and how to think and so you see something like this and assume it must be true without looking into it any further because Facebook is somehow the best source of reliable information 🙄

How do we even though the character inside or the human inside the character wasn’t black. Just another way to divide our country with race
Off camera this character hugged a little white girl who was standing past them not the ones it high fived on camera before getting to the two little girls, hence this mother's frustration. This doesn't make you feel bad for them? When you tend to analyze things to "defend" instead of seeing things the way they actual are makes it about race in their book and in yours. There is more video incidents with Sesame Place doing the same thing to other black children. I saw one with a theme character knocking over a 3-4 year old..on purpose. If that individual gets fired, I guarantee that individual will hire an attorney right away and sue the Sesame Street Park for wrongful termination. $$$$ It’s all about the money. If you want an apology, you don’t need an attorney. But if you are going after the money, don’t waste any seconds getting an attorney, that is just what she did.
Money is the only way this is going to stop. You have to hit them where it hurts. Complaining or asking for an apology isn’t going to stop this from happening. While I think it is sad for the children, it could be possible there was a misunderstanding and the character thought the girls wanted to be held. I don't think they needed to lawyer. Too many instances can be resolved or at least come to some kind of middle ground through sitting down and talking rather than escalating a situation. Unfortunately things get heated very quickly these days instead of trying to understand one another. That is not to say the character is innocent or guilty. If it comes to light there is a pattern, then certainly it should be addressed. Either way it is better to talk it out and looked into instead of assuming one way or another.

Not everything is racism - these parents could’ve handled this differently and used this as a moment to teach their kids resilience, instead they chose to sue and use their girls as props in this stunt. That costume person probably makes minimum wage, sweltering in this heat and could be white, black, latinx, Asian or whatever. Seems like a heartbreaking dis, but I have been in suits like that long ago at schools promoting water safety. It's hot and visibility is terrible. Had to have a second person to guide the person in the costume because vis was so bad. And nobody in the suit for more than 10 minutes in summer. I got mobbed once and accidentally knocked a kid over. So a lawsuit? Really. It should be dismissed, hopefully before the cast member is put through the meat grinder that is the discovery process. There is no tort here. No negligent action leading to any actual/remunerable harm. These things are a sad distraction from the much more harmful racial injustices and makes those bigger concerns seem frivolous because it's on the same TV news.
They saw everybody else. Why not them. Sounds like Bannon made Trumplike excuse. Either way. It looks bad and only proves that racism is alive and well in the usa; some of us can't wait for the good ole boys to die off. And not a word about the little girls.......tells where your priorities are.

The body language seems to correspond with the allegation though, so even though I feel it could have been in one sense, you can see when they say no, dodge them to save from walking into them and then walking away, you cannot hide what the body does, theirs told on them instantly the only thing they are concerned about was getting caught

How come misunderstandings automatically conclude to racism? It’s gone to the point, that’s the first thought when something didn’t go how they expected or their way. Even if it was a logical reason, it will never be thought of as nothing other then the conclusion they want it to be.
Oh grow up and get real already. THERE IS A VIDEO. You can CLEARLY see that the character waves the little Black girls off after high-fiving white children. There are numerous other videos of this same character ignoring Black children after high-fiving white kids.
@@courtneyhenley681 that’s the point, your definition of “real” is this disillusioned mindset that everyone you don’t agree with is racist. But you see what you want to see because that’s your subculture to automatically go to a narrative that supports this ideology. I grew up in that area and have been to Sesame Place many, many times as a kid(and even still go on occasion with my own family). I'm not saying this lady is definitely overreacting and/or jumping to assumptions, but I feel like Hanlon's razor might be worth considering here: Sesame Place employs a shit ton of high-school aged teenagers/young adults - I literally used to be friends/classmates with a handful of people who worked there in the summer when I was in HS. And they're not paid particularly well, especially considering the expectations and level of responsibility placed on them. And it's hot af in the middle of July(even if you're NOT skipping merrily down the parade path in a heavy costume w/shitty ventilation). I probably got snubbed half a dozen times myself by various characters at that place(as a white kid in the 80s fwiw). Shit, I've witnessed my own kid(also white) get walked past by one of the characters _during a meet-and-greet meal that we'd booked in advance._ All I'm saying is that sometimes it's not automatically a racism thing. Sometimes it's more just a dumb, underpaid, overworked kid in a costume who dgaf and just wants to hurry up and finish the parade route so they can go on break or clock tf out and go hang out with their friends thing. That certainly doesn't excuse the dismissiveness or make the kids' experience suck any less, but making this kind of accusation(and potentially ruining the employee's reputation/life by branding them as a racist) with no other evidence besides a short clip showing a character seemingly waving off her children and walking past them just seems a bit of a reach to me. As others have pointed out, you actually see the character wave off someone else nearby immediately before waving off the children in the video. One of them actually appears to be wandering into the parade path and reaching out, trying to get the character to hug her - which may very well be a policy thing and could even be why she got waved off; I honestly don't recall ever seeing any chars giving my kid(or me) hugs at the park, either. A high five, or a lean in to pose for a picture, but that's about it).
The character continued to give 5’s to people after the girls according to the Mom so it seems they for some reason were skipped. Also there are similar incidents towards black people by the same character caught on video apparently.
Disgusting. She knew what she was doing and watch how she skipped a step to walk away from the girls so she saw them alright. Despicable. No matter who else they put under that costume, the uneasy feeling will remain. Retiring her and that character is what should happen.
only a few months back i was watching someone streaming a visit to sesame place on twitch and a character ignored a little white boy. kid immediately started crying. it doesn't really inform on this situation but sometimes, SOMETIMES it's just a guy in a costume not paying attention to your kid. i can't be bothered checking the vods for the date but it was on yuggie_tv's channel.
@Nicko Big Puppetry You can't post links, RUclips automatically deletes them. Nice how you accuse someone of lying just because you yourself haven't seen it. Maybe we should all do that next time a black person uses the race card for something ridiculous again.

This is what happens when you view everything through the lens of race. You can see the little girl has both arms out because she wanted to give the character a hug unfortunately it is Sesame Street‘s policy not to hug children or anybody for that fact.

A grown man crying because he didn’t get high fives by a Sesame Street character…
I can’t tell if this is a joke or not but if its not, grow up. You can cry but not over that.
How come misunderstandings automatically conclude to racism? It’s gone to the point, that’s the first thought when something didn’t go how they expected or their way. Even if it was a logical reason, it will never be thought of as nothing other then the conclusion they want it to be.
because that makes the most free money
Oh grow up and get real already. THERE IS A VIDEO. You can CLEARLY see that the character waves the little Black girls off after high-fiving white children. There are numerous other videos of this same character ignoring Black children after high-fiving white kids.
@@courtneyhenley681 that’s the point, your definition of “real” is this disillusioned mindset that everyone you don’t agree with is racist. It’s totally over your head that the parents asked for a picture, and “THERE IS A VIDEO “ showing the character saying no and walking away. But you see what you want to see because that’s your subculture to automatically go to a narrative that supports this ideology. I mean think what you want, It doesn’t effect me, it annoying, but doesn’t effect me. I myself is pretty clear, I avoid as much as I can to stay away from urban groups. But that’s just me being clear on my feelings. Nothing about that subculture is appealing to me. And feeling/preference + facts of statistics = me avoiding urban groups. But not everyone feels this way, but it’s the first thing that group wants to conclude. Don’t want equality, want double standards. But it’s what ever. Know one cares at this point, it’s been over played and ppl are sick of it.
The character is claiming a misunderstanding now. The interaction is on video, obviously refusing the children.
@@shadowsandspirtswithsantos6085 it baffles me how people alter reality of an event, even when there is video footage displaying everything. No amount criticizing these children's mother is going to change what we see with our eyes.
Playing the race card to get some fast cash. She needs to think about the message she’s putting out and teaching her kids. The problem is she has a limited view on her camera angle and I’m sure the character hi fived many people of all races through the parade, but because there’s a white family in view right before the “misunderstanding” happened, it’s a race thing… you can even hear the hesitation her voice and answer when asked about “ what did the kids say or do. She clearly made it up on the fly and exaggerated, over the kids reactions.

She thinks she can prove what someone in a costume can see or was thinking? The attorney is shooting for a settlement.
It was obvious that he didn't want to high five them. The non interaction is on video.
Why every news segment that deals with racism they always use a POC news anchor??
The Characters Clearly Told them No!!! (No Paragraphs Needed)Tf
Two different gestures though...the "no finger" at the Lady then a pointed "nope" with the entire left hand (paw?) directed at the girls.
@@Leeta The little girl was gesturing to be hugged/picked up, looks easily explainable to me...
I would save my breath. All these brainjacked sheeple heard was “blah blah blah America is raaaacist REEEEEEEEEEEEEE “
Lol
only a few months back i was watching someone streaming a visit to sesame place on twitch and a character ignored a little white boy. kid immediately started crying. it doesn't really inform on this situation but sometimes, SOMETIMES it's just a guy in a costume not paying attention to your kid.

Not buying this shit, whomever was in the costume seen these children. This type of behavior is unacceptable. Those children didn't deserve that. # Heartbreaking
We need to just resegregate so we won't even have to worry about this kind of stuff.
Children are starving and living in poverty all over the world and we choose to focus on 3 seconds of mild disappointment for these otherwise extremely fortunate children living in relative paradise compared to millions of others.
This could very easily be exactly as the park has explained. It's hard to accept a benign explanation when emotions are involved and especially in a context where racism or another negative social factor could be the explanation.
I'm sure that if this goes to trial both the park and the plaintive will want to review security video from the park ti determine weather there is any pattern by this employee of doing anything like what is alleged. That should tell the tale.
