brother, I heard you saying that photoshop isn't optimal option for UI design, so what do suggest to use ?, in the other videos you used figma, is it better in UI design than photoshop or it depends on the design idea. Appreciate you work, it's very helpful.
Hey bro, thanks for getting involved and I really appreciate your comment on this point. I think UI for games is in a tricky place at the moment as a lot of studios still use 100% Photoshop as part of their professional UI pipeline, which I don't recommend as the sole tool for creating UI. One thing I've seen is the presence of Figma appearing time and time again at professional studios so there's definitely a shift to that being the main tool for the creation process, with a little bit of Photoshop, Illustrator etc. to create some specific external assets to bring in to Figma. Figma has many strengths and a few shortcomings but there's a lot of energy behind this tool when it comes to UI. The problem I have with Photoshop is that it comes with a lot of bulk that slows the process right down. It fails to give us proper UI systems, reusable components for intuitive global changes and when you try to utilise what they do have i.e Layer Comps, Smart Objects, Canvases and Libraries they just don't hit the mark. It's also a bit of a nightmare if you're working with other designers across multiple PSDs. Don't get me wrong, I love Photoshop as a tool for hand painted UI styles, illustration or photo manipulation, but it's not great for efficient UI creation. It really is a case of the best tool for the job, so I recommend spending more time in Figma with a bit of Photoshop etc. as a tool for support. Being proficient in both is recommended as sometimes you have to adapt to what the company process is. I hope that helps bro.
Thank you for taking time to answer my question, I really appreciate it. I'm new to Figma and I can see that it's a powerful tool, and as you said shifting between both is a good idea. thank you for your hard work and looking forward for your next videos. @@WarrenWintersUI
