Retro Rick might have the best gaming store in the entire country. It’s like a museum/ gaming store. The fact he’s only had it for almost a year is insane.
Some stores might be bigger, loaded with more inventory, prices could be better, Ricks store is basically a gaming store/museum for nostalgia. Pink gorilla is awesome from what I've seen too. But what Double Jump has something thats hard to duplicated from my "perspective "That's Cooper & Abbey's charisma. Their staff/the whole crew. Everyone is so likeable and friendly. Every store mentioned here are special in their own way. Great job guys.

Game Point was my local video game store when I went to college at UCA in Conway in the early 2010s. It was already the best game store in Arkansas but Rick has taken it to an entirely new level.
14:26 I was about to say that It'd be so rad to have a cover printing service for people to order bespoke covers for their games. I love the idea of Store specific covers as well.

Retro Rick's Ren & Stimpy shirt is off the chain! Instant nostalgia for me because I had the same one in the 90s. I loved that show and still watch it today on DVD with my kids.💚

The advantages of his store jump at the eyes immediately to me:
1) There's next to no "empty space" to look at (I.E. portions of walls with nothing, etc). There's a lot to look at. The kind of place where every little nook and crannies got something to look at or that will grab your attention (and is buyable, most of the time, outside of the big statues for decoration).
2) The above point allows this: the consumer will be tempted to keep exploring, it will basically convince / influence the consumer to stay in the store longer; which increases the potential for a purchase. It's part of a carefully thought-out procedure in retail to maximize "store time" on the part of the people coming in.
3) The staff is amazing and they, themselves, will convince you in a way to stay and chat (even if just briefly). They seem to all be knowledgeable about video gaming in general which means - with time - a consumer going there regularly could create a real bond of friendship with the staff and sometimes just talk about gaming this, and gaming that. That, in turn, gives the impression to other newcomer consumers in the store of a very friendly and welcoming place to buy and sale gaming stuff.
Basically Retro Rick didn't miss a beat, it's retail well done, and well thought out.
Simpson statute looks really cool (it says: Come here.. sit down.. and let's your friend take picture of you with Simpsons..). Great to see Retro Rick's game shop!
Having the statues and other memorabilia does draw in more attention from shoppers. Even if they do not buy anything, they may pass the word about the statues to friends and family. If I had a game store, it would be set up like yours and Rick's.
I regret not visiting your store before I moved to Georgia. Maybe one day when I visit home.

Rick’s on point about leveraging that massive space for front-facing inventory. Not only does merchandising this way present better, but also helps manage inventory levels Fillmore effectively.

Custom Retro Rick switch game covers just a simple logo and character thats in the games. theyd sell
7:20 YES..i hate looking at spines..."movies,games,books"...I dont have the time or patience for looking through thousands of spines..AND low shelves is a pet peeve as well. Bad back and im not 20 anymore. So having shelves up around knee high and higher is good for people like myself.

A lot of selling $2 NES games for $20+ on Whatnot lmao. Seems like a pretty decent dude, but that's always put a bad taste in my mouth. But his community is free to pay whatever they like for the things he auctions.
