Yes ! The eyes ! With what we call in France , the heavy upper eyelids ( les paupières lourdes) that make for this intense stare. And Signoret didn't lose this impressive presence when she sort of got old prematurely . In fact , she just had to appear and you knew somebody was there. She lit up the screen and went on having star parts in films throughout the 70's and 80's until her death and no matter what ( age, physical change) and without bowing down to plastic surgery. That was one powerful woman!
