Marantz sound changed around 77 or 78. The 2325 was from an older vintage and sounds typically richer and more luxurious. The later Marantz gear identified by the relief faceplate and a tuner light colour change had a more analytical sound with pin sharp transients. Most Marantz fans prefer the early-mid 70s stuff but some folks prefer the more crisp sound of the late 70s Marantz. What's most important is matching it to speakers.

I had saw from a German site that the wattage was 225wpc into 4 ohms, but I couldn't confirm that anywhere. Nothing from Marantz on that number. Had no trouble driving 4 ohm Elac Uni-Fi's but there wasn't the amazing drop-dead result from them that you read from people demoing them with 300+ wpc $5000 systems. They just sounded good, but not better than my Boston Acoustics A150's.
I have a Luxman laboratory reference series set, someone offered me to trade with this with the wood case, i passed the offer but still looks great though

(don't tell the wife she don't know yet Shhh). a little confused about the Dolby system but i just printed the manual so ill be looking into that if it is even something that is usable these days.Being 40+ years old when should i take it to get recaped. Before i bought it the sellers Tech looked it over and did a cleaning and a thumbs up on it's condition. and it sounded great at his house. all LED on it new also. want to baby it but also want to crank it up. Whats my next step any thought or suggestions

+MrWolf Analogue I sold all my marantz stuff, only have a marantz pm-80 left...my main receiver is now a sansui g-901db, my opinion is that the sound of this receiver beats all vintage marantz receivers.....
+vintage stereo i totally agree!!! hmmm..I was thinking the same for my self..the series G,not the 9090db couse the 30 daping factor sucks like a monster with 120 rms wpc.i got my own Marantz 2226b from 81' in great condition,and its time to go for G-9000(I like the switch,not the buttons) is my next target with a nice pair speakers like sansui sp 3500 or sp x-9000.
MrWolf Analogue I don't know where you are from but in america the g-9000 is still cheap, here in europe you cant find a g-9000 under 1500 euro, a g-22.000 cost you minimum 3.500 euro at the moment, prices are rising very fast.

I have the 2325. It lost power and i put it in the closet 25 years ago. Nice to see it powered on again.
