Because thrust during transition would have to be reversed. This way you can maintain a constant thrust direction on the rotor while it switches from forward to/from hover
Hyundai and Archer worked together in the past when Archer was in their early development phases. Hyundai helped Archer in its development of air taxi concepts with their engineering expertise and electric propulsion technology
I would rather see a true tiltrotor - like an all electric version of the V-280 Valor. It would have far greater forward speed. (It could possibly have greater range for the same amount of battery power, although I don't know enough about the physics to give an informed opinion.)
What is the use case here? It only seats 4 so it's not a mass transit solution. So it's a private vehicle? Do you need to get a pilots license? Where are you supposed to land it? At an airport? In your driveway? It's basically a giant drone, what about noise pollution (drones are already extremely loud at 2 pounds, so how loud will it be at 2 tons?) How is there enough thrust to lift the weight of the battery plus 4 humans if it's all electric? What if the battery dies mid flight? What if 2 of these collide mid air? What if there's a catastrophic failure when flying above someone's house? A drone can only fly for about 5 minutes on a full charge, how far can this go? How is this in any way a better solution for congestion than building more infrastructure for things like trams and buses?
You seem very negative, lol. Drones can fly for more than 5 minutes, LR's are flying for more than 30 minutes. But yes, batteries are complete crap and the weak link in every single battery powered product. Also climate change is completely natural and humans have had none to little effect on temperature. So the push and propa ganda is a complete joke , just for sheepeople to follow because they are exceeding weak.
Very nice everything!!
Why have the rear rotors rotate downward? Seems to be a safety hazard to have a Cuisinart at head level.

@@sticky080thanks for this informative post good sir
Joby?

Its so amazing
Did you have to fully copy Archer’s design?
