This was supposed to be just a single video but it would be very long (over 30 minutes long)! So I cut it into two parts. I just appreciate Burt too much! He's a really cool and good father not only to Kurt but to the whole Glee club. He definitely deserves to have the Best Dad on TV Award!
Burt is the most accepting father of all the TV shows I've seen. Maybe I haven't watched or seen other dads on a show but so far, Burt is the only one I know of.
You've clearly never seen general hospital 😂 sonny on there is a mob boss with a lesbian kid, bipolar son, and his other kid was raped in prison, he'll straight up shoot a bitch and not think twice.
What made Burt the best character for me was when Kurt tells him that West Side Story's funding was cut and he *immediately* sprung into action. No long-winded conversations, no playing devil's advocate; he just knew that the play was something important to Kurt and saw how upset his boy was and acted. He took on Sue Sylvester just to make the state a better place for his son and people like him. Burt is absolutely the best character in the show
And let's not forget that his relationship with Carole is one of the healthiest on the show, even if he seldom appears on screen. It shows that he also grew up supporting his son and being able to give himself the opportunity to be happy after the death of his wife and all those lonely years that the Hummels had to go through.
His whole speech when Finn said the homophobic slurs was just everything. Kurt is a precious baby angel and I’m so happy that he has such a kind and supportive father.
But Finn was only using these slurs to complain about the furniture in the room and he wasn't directing them at Kurt. Burt just assumed Finn was harassing Kurt with the slurs because he's gay and failed to realize why Finn erupted
@@nadimabbas4093 He still used those words in front of his gay friend, He needed that talking to. Even if he didn't have the intent, He was internalizing it and doing it unintentionally so still needed a talking to.
@@nadimabbas4093 not throw around slurs, does not matter he didn’t say it aimed at Kurt. He used a slur that is against a group of people to insult something. Go re watch his speech. You use that slur as a insult even if not aimed at someone it’s basically saying that group is something to be ashamed of. And it’s not a creepy room. It just wasn’t to Finn’s taste
@@corabarnes6004 Well Finn found the room creepy and his eruption was justified because of how Kurt's behavior affected him. He wasn't against Kurt being gay, but he was against Kurt trying to turn him gay and freaking the hell out of him with the room. Furthermore, it's ridiculous to think that insulting inanimate objects translates into an insult against someone. Calling the furniture faggy isn't an attack on Kurt and you said yourself that Finn didn't have that intention so he should be vindicated for what he actually meant rather than judged for the way it came out
What's especially great about Burt is that they depicted him realistically (Or as realistic as Glee can get) having to slowly learn to embrace all of Kurt and overcome the internalized prejudice that would've been there in any straight guy who lived in middle America & would've grown up in the 70's-80's. But he was always willing to learn and grow because he just knew that a good parent loves their child unconditionally and always tries to do better.
Whenever i think of a father, i think of Burt. Whenever i think of a man, I think of Burt. He is an amazing human being and if we all had him as a dad, we would all be the best people and the world wouldn't be so fxcked
My favorite part is this video is how he threatened Karofsky for attacking Kurt. Burt has been a papa wolf many times before, but this is the first time it crosses to violence. Karofsky's fear makes it even more impressive
The reason their chemistry is like this is bc Ryan Murphy wrote about his experiences he went through with his dad coming out as a gay kid in his home town. He was super excepting and defending him through most of his HS years.
Burt is the best , I wish my dad was like burt. If he was more like burt he and I would have a better relationship as father and child. My dad and I had "the talk" multiple times.
I will say when Burt stood up for Kurt against fin, that was some real crap. Even tho its a show, he made the point that any amount of discrimination in a place where someone should be safe is absolutely wrong. And that it really shouldn't happen at all, anywhere.
There's something very touching about how his dad doesn't always know how to handle every situation with his son but doesn't want Kurt to be in the closet and isn't ashamed of him being gay
I love burt cause he's exactly what a man should be. especially a father. comfortable in his sexuality and ways, but accepts his son for who he is and doesn't push his ways onto him. he also stands up for his son while other's would either turn away or just keep it lowkey as to not cause a scene. and if there seems to be a rocky moment, he'll correct his mistake like a man should. it's a pipe dream, but I wish most LGBT+ kids could experience a parent like this. maybe one day it'll be more of the norm vs the minority 😭.
Burt is the epitome of the accepting blue collar dad. He’s not perfect and he definitely has his flaws, but he loves his son and will defend him to the death
My sister fell in love and married a woman. Our dad didn’t like it so he ignores her. I love my sister and sister in law so he ignores me too. I wished he was like Burt and my sister would have a good father.
My uncle was the same with my cousin, and it took all of us to knock some sense into him and there relationship has definitely changed for the better. He’s not Burt but he’s more understanding
I started watching it a couple weeks ago and I’m loving it so much, yeah it’s not perfect obviously it has flaws but I love the characters, especially Kurt, I admire him so much ❤️
I really like this. Let me tell you about my experience with Glee: I watched one episode once, with some friends at college, and i liked it because it focused on this kid and his dad and it was sweet. Another acquaintance asked me later if I liked it and I said I did; I didn’t remember the character’s names because I’m not good at that, and I said “I especially liked the parts with the little gay kid and his dad” and they got really mad at me for calling him “the little gay kid” which I certainly didn’t mean disrespectfully, just descriptively. He’s physically little (from my perspective at least, I’m a pretty big guy) and he’s gay. Those were the only two things I knew and retained about him from my brief exposure to the show. I guess she thought I was like making a dig on the character for some reason but I just didn’t know what else to call him to make it clear who I was talking about. But that was an unpleasant experience and that and a couple other run ins with glee fans kind of turned me off from watching or discussing the show again because it’s fans were really aggressive about it. But clips like this make me think maybe I should give it another shot.
I rewatched Glee videos and it just now occurs to me how truly amazing Burt was. Aside from him standing by and for Kurt every step of the way no matter his personal beliefs and thoughts he was the only parent involved in other Glee kid's lives, as seen how he knows Becky here and offers support for Santana's forceful outing, he took part in Glee club's funding, what I honestly expected from Rachel's well off parents more than the him. If you ever have someone wondering how they're supposed to "handle" non-hetero family members this is the video for them. Those are still the people you know and nobody has all the answers so just figure your stuff out together.
A thing, I clearly love about burt (or the way he was written) is that he never made it a secret that he struggled with being a Dad of a gay son. Like he said he has no clue about the Glee Club and stpping up for the discrimination of Kurt for wanting to sing a solo usually sung bc women. For admiting he said the F slur and other stuff when he was younger and admitting it was harmful and wrong. Not to mention, even kurt told him to do it, he educated himself about gay s*x to be able to help kurt through the first time! Not to mention he still calls kurt out the right way and respectfully telling his sarrows and concern about his extravaganca way to dress sometimes, so he is not the target of bullies. (Ik clothing has no gender, but sadly a lot of ppl do not see it that way. :/ ) I also love the way he speaks fact about the way kurt is and always says that it's absolutely nothing wrong with that and he should be supposed to be the change kurt wants in the world!
As a pansexual who grew up without a father how I can decide since watching the show is what if he was my dad would he be OK w this? It's given me a sense of peace and courage that normally mentally I wouldn't have been able to handle it was discovered I had a tumor on one of my ovaries scariest thing to have happened in my adult life but facing it I remembered Kurt's dad and how he handled his cancer scare and how he was able to rely on others to support him which was hard for me to do growing up it's still hard but that thought gives me the strength I need to let someone in enough to show that they can be relied on I hope this message gets to others who loved the show and loved how much of a father a true father he was to kurt
Thought he is was kinda uncool when he tells Finn "I can't be a Father to you" my definition isn't that what a step-father does? You know try and fill that void to some degree? I didn't watch this show much only saw a few episodes after I saw the Office mention the show.
