+panos1977 I had only visited the Greek islands before, now I realise that the mainland also has a lot to offer visitors. The ride through the Nestos River Gorge was one of the highlights of my journey along the scenic route from Alexandroupolis to Kulata.
Thanks for the extra information, out of interest I looked up Egnatia Railway and found this article - ec.europa.eu/eipp/desktop/nl/projects/project-64.html - this is new to me, so it made interesting reading.
Sorry Tim old mate, watching tracks recede for half the video isn't all that exciting, but the shots out the side of the train are far more interesting.
Nature re-claiming the railway line can be seen all along this route, maybe the annual weed killer train, hasn't visited yet. It was just regular weeds, grass and ivy taking over.
Thanks Tim. I was actually referring to part 1 of the video, where an entire train on a siding was engulfed by vines, but it is here too. Whatever it is, it is a very aggressive species. See this: www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/kudzu-photos-helene-schmitz_us_56704e47e4b0fccee1700578
Hi, I looked at the link you forwarded, the creepers engulfing the old wagons certainly looks very similar to Kudzu, it may well be, I just hope I don't get in my garden.

Part of this will be superseded by the proposed Egnatia (?) Railway. So the line maybe on borrowed time.

Man, they have a real invasive weed problem, don't they. What is that stuff? Kudzu?
