As a New Zealander, it's harder to enjoy them because they just sound normal

I'd hire him on that basis alone: someone who makes a solution, when everyone else is just staying in the problem.

When I was 10, my parents took me to a small farmer's sale. We were going to a small farmers sale and we took the Ute there. Dad was looking for some animals and things to take home to our farm. And so anyway, him and mum spotted this little dining room table, and I was just wandering around in my jandals, and you know, just checking out the stuff. Mum and dad spotted this table and chairs, that they thought that's gonna be perfect in the dining room. We put it on the back of the Ute, and we go home, and us boys are sitting (me and my two brothers) are sitting up on the back of the Ute, in the chairs, in the dining room chairs. Dad thinks it'd be a good idea "Oh I know what we'll do, do you boys want some ice-cream out the back?" ya know. So we're like "yeah absolutely, we'll have ice-cream". Next thing you know, we're all sitting there, licking our ice-creams, sitting on the back. Dad decides (seeing a bit of Formula 1) he'd like to take the corner probably a bit quicker than he should have. Me on my chair ... bang fall down on the road

About 10 years ago I was in the Waikato Hospital (in New Zealand) with a family member. The nurse that was attending to us was very busy with another patient. That patient had just cut off multiple fingers by picking up his lawnmower to cut his hedge. I wonder if this is the same story.

No. Paramedic said it was In the UK and it's unlikely there'd be two of them in hospital at the same time here. Think it's more likely to be universal stupidity.

I love how sweet Helena Is so sweet IRL that even after he had finished telling a story of her dancing around and singing naked she was trying to make it so he didn't get flipped... She played an amazing Bellatrix I think... and tbh I have only ever seen her in other roles where she has been an antagonist so it was kinda awesome to see he be such a genuinely nice person.
Try the new Netflix movie “Enola Holmes”. Helena plays Enola’s mother. Not the biggest role, but the movie itself (and Helena of course) is quite charming.
I feel like Helena genuinely did want to know more about the story and probably his mother.

I was talking to my Kiwi friend once, and he told me he had to “pick up his beard”, I nod as if I thought this was a normal thing, and then about halfway through the conversation I exclaimed “Oh, bed! You went to pick up your bed!”

For somebody who was born in NZ, thank you for this tribute compilation. NZ Red Chair stories aren't always enjoyable to watch, because I too, thought it was normal than the rest. However, somehow our stories get walk offs, only because they're told in a way only Kiwi's could understand them. It's weird and super mental, other countries think we sound like sheep, when we do not. We just have alot of Mixed Nationalities in our country.
It’s not the way they talk it’s actually that the stories are good. For example the paramedics one. If you see other Graham red chair compilations he always loves stories which are weird or have a dark funny theme to them.

Graham was so prompt with the lever when the guy said "she told me not to tell the story..". Any hint of causing embarassment to the guest, his guards are up. He's a great host!!

I once heard a linguist being interviewed on Radio New Zealand, talking about how kiwi accents have changed over time. She mentioned “Tin Man” saying she thought it was interesting the way he ramped up the accent and vocabulary when he realised how much people were enjoying it. Yes, a great red chair story 😀

To be fair, I'm Canadian and I also don't really understand why it's so funny. It's just an accent. I don't think it really warranted that much of a reaction. lol

This Dunk who did the poo is a Radio presenter for The Rock radio station in New Zealand and he admitted this live on the Rocks Breakfast radio show :-) was a few years ago that this happened.

As a Kiwi it's weird to me because they just say something normal like "I was ten", and everyone loses it.
Its because it sounds like tin to other countries version of English beside south africa
@@randomdude4669 Yeah I'm aware that we have accents, but unless I really focus I can't hear a Kiwi accent.
But we get a lot of overseas media exposure in NZ, so if I watch TV the hosts having American or English accents is 'normal' and I don't really hear them, that is until an actual Kiwi accent comes on which kinda drives home the accent difference.
It's because he said he was from Putney at the start so everybody was expecting a London accent. The "When I was ten" part is when we fist hear that it is very much not a London accent. And then the guy just doesn't address it for the entire story.
I'm sure you would laugh is somebody claimed to be from Wellington and then came out with a broad Texan accent for example.

@@BlueKitsune72 The biggest difference between most accents is the vowel sounds, so this is hardly unique to NZ accents.
Random fact, but "Dunc", the dude in the dog poo story is a radio DJ in New Zealand. He's on the afternoon drive show on the Rock FM.
