This is my favorite boss fight in the game! At first I thought it was just gonna be “He’s the obvious bad guy in disguise” but it turns out he was the original user of the Gravity Circuit! I loved how it parallels Omega from MMZ3 but instead he’s a good guy just making sure the new user, kai, can handle it.
i see it at the first time it was something like Protoman from MM3 onwards, because... (SPOILER ALERT) he is obsolete and anyways when he was hooded had these misterious "touches" another thing too it's when he appears on the fight or in any cutscene, there's a tranquility-sadness and sorrow theme with a "flute" or whistle, really giving vibes of protoman. Anyway, he is the Predecessor hero too like Zerokin said, where is givin another proto-vibes, and the freakin' sunglasses!! hahaha...but i get you.
Everyone is pointing out how Nega reminds them of Omega and Zero, but nobody mentions the obvious Proto Man vibes he has. Everything about him being the original model that was forgotten, the contrast between the old and the new, their themes of hope and regret... He mentors the one to replace him. And while he's broken and tired, he still cares about the future. Even if that means to be left behind. I mean, just look at those sunglasses!
This game had done well recreating the megaman moments, the whole sequence reminds me heavily of Zero, starting from Nega removing his cape (Z2 opening), the battle for true successor of Gravity circuit (Z3 omega) to the heroic energetic boss theme (X2 vs zero). Both of them even have Zero's shoulder armor.
I notice that aside from Last Resort, he only uses the starting four Burst Skills, Flying Strike, Rising Upper and Heavenly Piledrive most of the time, and Catch Interrupt if you mess around too much. You could absolutely make a Nega build.
He probably planned from the beginning to become the commander circuit, instead of trying to take back Kai's Circuit, he just tries to pass on the torch by teaching his abbilities to Kai and making sure that Kai is a worthy successor, now nega can finally rest from the battles living in the underground with the others circuits

Predecessor Hero
With that color scheme and attitude he also has some Ballade vibes as well tbh. Still love that he's basically a good Omega. So cool.
To claim the predecessor name, you first have to be acknowledged by predecessor and their followers
It's more close to Proto Man than Omega, but I get your point.

My thoughts exactly! Clearly he’s more of a Protoman type of character!
Don’t forget the biggest Protoman parallel. Those stylin shades
Well, Zero is a motivation from Protoman, or at least it seems like it so...
Protoman uses a sword in Exe series, kind of like Zero...
"How is that body of yours treating you?"
MMZ3 flashbacks went crazy
this guy can go 1:1 with the protag without his powers in a busted up body and still thought he should keep them 🤣 what a nice robot
You gotta impress him first though.
This guy's among the coolest mentors.

There's even quotes from Z3 on this game leading up to this reveal, it's super dope. Like the "in that body" comment.

Developers please add a nega mode or at least a skin for an update. Please!
They did add a nega skin thought so wish granted?
@@hardman2198It is not a skin, it is a palette of Nega with one of hos abilities
@@Persona-ob9br ain't pallettes just skins? Tbf it's more like a skin with extra ability
This game feels like a reboot of a series that never existed
Omega Zero: who are you?
Nega: I'm you but not evil

In that way he serves the same function as Zero, yeah!
At this point Nega became an Ensemble Dark Horse of the game.
Very shocked to see the truth 😢
Arrrrgh, the way the chip ends up right next to you without you being able to collect it
Yea it’s stupid I had to replay the game again to get it.
