Hello and Thanx for video. I recently bought the same one. But it allow to program via wifi and don't allow USB port link. Any idea how to connect it for Arduino IDE?
It's my pleasure my friend. 🫠Regarding your question, i i havn't tied it but i have some friend that i can ask and let you know. Should you have any further questions or requests in the future, please don't hesitate to ask me. cheers🍻
I would like to know more about the network aspect of the device. It assigns a private (192.169.?.?) IP address to the device based on your gateway router but how does it obtain the realtime data? From what source? How does it pull this data? Is the device a security risk to your network. Do GeekMagic engineers have access to your network? thanks
🫠Regarding your inquiry, let me address your points step by step. Firstly, the IP address for this device is assigned by your router gateway, which you have the ability to modify within the router's settings. The device retrieves data from a default source: openweathermap.org. However, you have the flexibility to integrate an API from a different provider if you prefer, enabling the device to fetch information from the new source. Concerning security concerns, while I understand the hesitation about introducing the device to your private network due to potential firmware vulnerabilities, I recommend setting up a dedicated subnet. This approach isolates the device from your main network, mitigating risk. Despite these precautions, it's worth noting that after extensive testing and monitoring for over a year, we've observed no incidents of data leakage or unauthorized network access attempts from the device. Based on these findings, I assess it to be secure. Nonetheless, it's crucial to maintain vigilance with all smart devices, particularly smart TVs. They often serve as a primary entry point for hackers attempting to compromise home or office networks.
I have a problem,i set it up with WiFi connection, but the time is not good, so i cannot go back to the setting page from the ip address displayed on the clock,it says this site cannot be reached.any help?
there is no option on this firmware but im sure in guithub there are many people doing projects and i will take a look and see if i can find a project something without the wifi.
Do you believe it is possible to reprogram this smart geek to be used with other elements, or even full customization using some language for ESP32? @Ufixtek
🫠Regarding your question, this product = small MB BIOS memory chip+ Wifi connection = LCD (display output) that means you can program (write code you like) that takes info from internet API or anything else and can output int o display. you can get it program to read you youtube channel subscribers in Realtime, and many many more, get info (API) for crypto prices. get an alarm info when there is a earthquake at x point. it can write a program that can do multiple stuff. Should you have any further questions or requests in the future, please don't hesitate to ask me. cheers🍻
Well it hardly seems to be an ESP8266 in the ESP-12F module configuration. You can easily reprogram this thing with an USB to serial adapter and an IDE of your choice - like the Arduino IDE for beginners.
Hey man im trying to update the firmware by uploading the .bin file to the webconsole and once i click update it says successful but it still says the old firmware. Do i have to enter in some sort of boot mode or something to update the firmware ?
🫠Regarding your question, it should of had updated if it says "successful" and just unplug and wait 30sec and plug back and check, we do the same and it says "successful" and it updates the firmware on restart.
@@uFixTek i did all of that i even reset it and uploaded without changing any settings and uplugging and plugging but still says .28 last firmware at the bottom of the console. I tried updating all possible iterations from .29 all the way to .37 and nothing. Still says .28

i have one, i think if it has more memory or supports MiroSD card, it will be much better
🫠Regarding your question, it would be more power-hungry and much more expensive, but it would be nice. 🙂💞
I love this clock! Is there a way to DIY on to a bigger screen?
🫠Regarding your question, at the moment there isn't any but there are many WIP that are doing mods.
Looks like a vreg chip and an esp12f module. Awesome! Is the ribbon cable long enough so the lcd could be mounted flush to the other circuit?
🫠Regarding your question, it is long enough.
Mine just reboots and reboots and can't seem to get to 100% and just keeps on repeating
you have a bad firmware, i will make a video on how to hard program the chip.
cheers🍻

are you in the same network?
@uFixTek yes!,i connect with 2.5 gh wifi, but when i input the ip adress that is displayed it says cannot acess site....
Hi. How I do factory reset? Thanks!!
🫠Regarding your question, i will make a video on that reset, premuch you will need to reload the firmware.
Can it be used for travel?😊
Sure it can.
I'm connected to the wifi on my phone but nothing comes up when I open my browser
🫠Regarding your question, you have to type the ip address that shows on the device in to your browser.
@uFixTek I did and still nothing comes up
Is there an option to turn off Wi-Fi completely ? To use just a clock?
there is no option on this firmware but im sure in guithub there are many people doing projects and i will take a look and see if i can find a project something without the wifi.
Why would you want to?
Can a battery be added?
🫠Regarding your question, yes you can and i will make a video on how to add a rechargeable batery.
@@uFixTek have you done the video? It would be very cool

let me check something over the weekend and i get back at you on monday, i will upload my .bin file.
@@uFixTek you rock 🙏🏽
@@uFixTek made it work:) I had to check the checksum and it was downloading a corrupted file. Thanks :)
hi can you send me a dump file of this clock? I format all data via uart and cant upload original program
oki i will tomorrow
cheers🍻
