I've been watching your older 2022 vlogs while waiting for your new ones. May I just say, sitting down after midnight once I've finished my school work for the day to watch your vlogs that have slow jazz? music really makes me sleepy and comfy and ready for bed. It's a wonderful feeling!
On the Lamy pens, if your nib isn’t smooth writing, take it back and have them replace the nib. The blackest, permanent ink is Carbon Black. Works great. Next problem…fruit flies. Take a clear glass bowl and fill 1/3 of way up with apple cider vinegar, then to halfway up bowl with water (and a couple of drops of Dawn dish soap. (Do not feel over halfway) Now get a piece of saran wrap, larger than the bowl and wrap the top tightly with saran wrap and poke tiny holes in the plastic wrap with a toothpick. Be sure the holes are not large enough for the bugs to fly back out within a couple of days your fruit flies will be gone and they will be in the bowl. Repeat as needed Enjoy your new Lamy pen and sketchbook!!!
I will say that to everyone who does that: but I love how you consider listening to an audiobook as reading! 🙏 I feel like many people on book social media are very strict with what is reading and what not. When we talk about books we usually mean the act of experiencing the story and not that I kept my eyes on paper for hours. Don’t gatekeep my way to read 😭
I just wanted to tell you that I love your videos and your channel in general, it gives me a lot of peace after a hectic day. thanks for everything, I love you and appreciate you so so much
Oh i love Katie is reading videos. She and yourself are such cozy accounts and my go to's to relax, I totally feel in a reading slump right now, so many false starts. i don't want to continue them in case it forces me to hate the book.
A whole Lamy shop💕. I would be in my element 😊. You inspire me to get back into crocheting. I love the colours you have picked for your cardigan, real fall colours. My favourite time of year too. Have a great week Lea 🩷
Fountain pen nerd alert! If you like clear pens, TWSBI might be for you. 😊 I tried out many brands for a while and eventually found my peace with the TWSBIs (I have several models). For me, they write like a dream (I work mainly on Japanese-brand papers like Muji and Hobonichi), and they're comfortable to hold because they have a round barrel and grip, unlike the Lamy. They're also piston-fillers, so they're more sustainable than cartridge-based pens, and you'd have an excuse to get aesthetic ink bottles for your desk, too. ;) The Eco model doesn't break the bank and is still very high-quality - I use one with an F nib (you might prefer an EF, I think) in my daily Hobonichi, inked up with Diamine Onyx Black (a solid black, I'd say - I was using a Zebra 0.4 earlier in the year and comparing the pages, the black of the Diamine shows up much deeper than the Sarasa, though ofc that may be in part due to line thickness). I do realise I sound like an ad, but I simply love my fountain pens. 😂❤ The Yu-sari notebook looks gorgeous, btw! I personally adore the blue. 😉 I'll have to see if I can get one from somewhere here in Germany, I'd love to try the paper. Thank you as always for taking us along on your adventures! 🫶
the priory of the orange tree is supedr long but amazing! the house in the ceurlean sea (which you picked up in store cuz ur friend recommended it) is what got time out of my slump! also hollow kingdom or slewfoot are good darker vibes if you want to speed up the Halloween feelings! :)
The Lamb Will Slaughter the Lion is a very funky urban fantasy about anarchist punks and a magical demon deer! Very quick and cool reads in my opinion!
Eeee just found your channel and literally binged every video i could in three days!! Oddly therapeautic and comforting to watch, i love ur aestheric sm.. keep going🖤
Reading slump recs: Her Majesty's Royal Coven by Juno Dawson, A Marvelous Light by Freya Marske, Legendborn by Tracy Deonn, City of Brass by S. A. Chakraborty, Piranesi by Susanne Clarke, The very secret society of irregular witches by Sangu Mandanna, Psalm for the Wild built by Becky Chambers
a fantasy book that i would always recommend is the priory of the orange tree! i really think you would like it, based on other books you've liked in the past, and the writing is so good!!!
I love your videos so much 🥹 and I also love writing and journaling although I don’t do it as often as I wished. But I definitely recommend you the notebooks from Notebook Therapy! They’re the best that I’ve gotten 🥰
you should try out the Pilot Kakuno fountain pen! it comes in a clear body and the black ink for it is a true black. I find it's way more comfortable to hold than the safari and i think pilot actually made it with the intention of it being like, a beginners fountain pen so its more ergonomic.
Not sure if you've already read this one but I really loved Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries, I'm reading the 2nd book in the series now and it seems just as good! Some others areHouse of Hollow, A Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares, The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches, Cackle, City of Ghosts, This House is Haunted, The Sparrow Sisters, anything by Sarah Addison Allen or Ruth Ware, The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane, The Graveyard Book, Wild Orchids, The Dark Protectors series by Rebecca Zanetti
Hello, greetings from Mexico City! Wonderful video ❤️ Really loved reading The Dallergut Dream Department Store, Midnight at the Houdini, The Girl who Could Not Dream (by the same author as The Spellshop, I believe), and Into the Heartless Wood.
Boy did I need this upload from you today! I have several things to say lol. 1) I get so excited every time I come to watch a new video from you and your sub count keeps rising! 2) Get you one of those plug in bug lights from Amazon! I get fruit flies cause of my plants and they are amazing! 2) I love trinkets so very much as well but man I hate the dust, do you have a dusting schedule or something ? lol 3)What do you do with your PopMart figures that you have doubles of?
i didnt get the bug thing before because i feared rocky would be affected but hes basically deaf now. trinkets - i just saw a reel or tiktok about how the dust adds character lol, if its not on the floor then i dont need to clean it - lol but seriously i dust from time to time, some areas. more frequentl than other but it all eventually gets cleaned. popmart doubles i put to the side and say ill give to my friends or sell but i never do oops, theyre all stuffed into random corners of my apt
@katherinekaras there are ones that are more like nightlight, the blue light attracts them and then they stick to the sticky paper, and you replace the sticky paper like every month or so depending how bad the problem is!
Well, I just finished Alfred Doblin Berlin Alexanderplatz, and I found it to be a tour of force, although I am given to understand it can be polarizing, and now I am re-reading Somerset Maugham Of Human Bondage, a great work that stands the test of time.
Loved this one. I know I am behind on your vlogs. I will have to get caught up here soon... I also love Katie is reading. I need to get back into crocheting as well
There was a lot of discourse surrounding TJ Klune and his inspiration for Cerulean Sea, that inspiration being the 60s scoop and residential schools in Canada. There are some Reddit threads and goodreads reviews about it if you’re interested in learning about that and can make an informed decision on whether or not you want to read it. I myself wasn’t able to get very far into the book after learning of his inspiration and co-opting, but I don’t want to tell you what not to read, but just thought you may want to know.
I came to the comments to see if anyone else knew about the TJ Klune situation. Hopefully she sees this, so she doesn't get surprised too late and can make an informed decision going in!
some of my fave fantasy books ♡ 1. Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett 2. Uprooted by Naomi Novik 3. And of course, always down for a re-read of The Raven Cycle
Hi lovely creature 🖤 your channel is absolutely one of my favorites. As a pen nerd, I honestly enjoyed the Ellington better than Lamy Safari; it's just smoother and the glide is very satisfying to me. In my opinion, the black ink is superior too. Might be worth a shot 😊 happy hunting!
I’ve had a safari for almost ten years and it’s broken in and very nice to use. They’re really dry when they’re new and Lamy ink is hit or miss (mostly miss).
I'm a little late, but you kinda have to break in a new fountain pen to get the ink flowing just right. Also, if you don't like the ink get a converter, and buy your own bottled ink. That's what I did to get the perfect blue for my fountain pen
hiii, i have lamy pen myself (the black one u also probably wanted to buy) and im also not as a big fan of it, cus its too light for me. 😅 And i HATE hate hate the plastic (one use) tubes, the ink is sooooo bad man!! So I bought a convector which you can buy online (and it’s cheaper) and some bottle of ink (like Faber-Castell - a very good ink, comes in various colors as well) and u just need to refill it 😌 its more ekonomical and ekological!!! u should try it out ✨🙌🏼 And thanks for the vlog, i just always feel so relaxed while watching them! Thank you ✨✨ you always make my day 😊
fantasy reading recs: Small Favors by Erin Craig, Blood and Moonlight by Erin Beaty, What the River Knows by Isabel Ibañez, and The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea by Axie Oh. Hope this helps!! ⭐️🌷
I don't know if you've read the book yet, but I think you'll love One for my enemy' by Olivie Blake. It's a perfect ''cosy'' fantasy. About two whiches families trying to take down each other empiers having to break their history. (set in modern Manhattan) It has enemies to lover's, trinket shops and magic. I haven't listen to the audiobook, so I don't know if that format is good but still I think you'll like it.
I’m a fountain pen nerd, but someone else already mentioned TWSBI, and I think you’d like those, so maybe take a look into them?? The reason the test pens work better in store is that the nibs have been used a LOT and nibs form to your hand/writing style after a few months+ of use, so those have been used a lot and they are pretty smooth cause of it. I’m… I’m not sure I understand why your upset the purple ink you got is not black?? Did you not know it’s purple???? Or just where you expecting it to be a darker purple?? Either way, sorry it’s not the color you wanted!! I like Kaweco’s black ink and they have bottles of it for not too pricey (for inks) so you could get a converter for your pen if you wanted. (Or if you end up getting a piston filler pen, it’ll work with that too). Hope you find a pen you love, or figure out how to make that one work for you❤❤❤❤ and also I hope you don’t get in another reading slump, I just got out of mine and I’m also worried I’ll get back in one soon, oof.
Hello Katherine, why can't I find you in goodread?! , I have the app but when I search your name it didn't find you page , can you help me find you ?!😢😢😢
Pilot neogel is not a random pen come on it's one of the best gel pens I've used :) But I see what you mean. I'm not an expert but I think gel pens provide much "blacker" writing compared to ink on most types of paper.
Kath, I think you are the perfect person to recommend me some fantasy books about witches, witchraft.. Mermaids/sirens! I really appreciate if you could give me some titles of books specially about Witches. If anyone could give me recommendations I really appreciate too! Thank you 🖤

TWSBI is my absolute favorite pen, 1000% agree! My ecos are my daily use pens.
I don’t have a TWSBI yet but I’ve heard they are great! My Pilots are much better than Lamy, I think the Lamys are overrated.

If your into fountain pens get the platinum preppy pen with the carbon black ink cartridges. The ink works well even when watercoloring.
I have that combo and that ink is not a deep black. My favorite deep black ink is De Atramentis black archive ink.

@@katherinekaras it’s absolutely stunning!

carbon ink is the one. waterproof, solid black & doesn't bleed through even moleskine paper :)
Be careful of carbon ink , as it's made for dip pens, not fountain pens, as it can clog and ruin them .
yes, you need to make sure you use it every day or flush out when not in use
I’ve had a safari for almost ten years and it’s broken in and very nice to use. They’re really dry when they’re new and Lamy ink is hit or miss (mostly miss).
