  • The Playlist of "Know Your 11 Samba Rhythms" helps you to learn the rhythms that are available for you to use in Samba. The full exercise across Part 1 to Part 3 will be a great way for you to drill and practice these 11 samba rhythms. Challenge yourself to recreate these samba rhythms with different steps!
    Please note that the steps used in this exercise were danced to represent the 11 Samba Rhythms, however, the steps themselves can be danced in different rhythms.

    I know these samba rhythms....
    1a2a3a4, 5a6a7a8--for the voltas (including the Criss Cross Travelling and the Circular Voltas)
    1 2 3 and 4, 5 6 7 and 8 - for the Cruzados Walks
    1a2 3a4 - Reverse Turn, Whisks, Samba Walk, Side Samba Walk
    1 and 2 and 3 and 4 - Argentine Crosses, Corta Jaca
    SQQSQQ - Reverse Roll, Plait
    a1 (hold "and 2 and") a3 (hold "and 4 and")--Voltas with Freezes
    1 2 3 4 (this is for those single-beat continuous pivots)
    1 uh and 2 uh and 3 uh and 4 uh and (this is for the batukadas)
