Try the Core Tackle Hover Rig hooks with either of those baits. Amazing. You get great action and a soft plastic without a jig head in front. Having the weight inside makes them sink different too. I have been using Hover Rig hooks lately and I am impressed. Get the 1/4 oz if you want to use it with Z Man, I have the 1/8 oz size and I wish I had the 1/4. The 1/8 should be perfect for Slam Shady plastic unless you want to go pretty deep. You guys might want to sell Hover Rig hooks and the Tush swim bait hooks from Core Tackle. Matt Stefan invented them for bass and he has videos about them. I've caught trout, reds and stuff on them my first couple trips using them.
I got a sample pack of 7 slam shady paddletails. I had never used them before, we went out on the Indian River and on the First cast I had a trout, after that another trout and then a redfish. The remainder of the paddletails we're attacked and bitten in half. These things work there is no question about it. Next I'm going to order the bag of 100. With that set the z-man is also an effective product but not nearly the the bites I got with the Shady's
@@aidanobuck5779 honestly there's nothing I could tell you that hasn't been printed out there somewhere. I do know that redfish populations are down, whether that is the problem I am not sure. As always follow the structure food source and current
Have you found out whether or not the off white, Zman version of slamshady produces more strikes or less strikes vs the more white 2.0 version of the slamshady?
Have not! But we have several comparisons on our blog about colors. You can find them at www.saltstrong.com/fishing-tips/ then just use the search feature.

Never caught anything on any salt strong lure or z man. DSL and egret wedge tails are my successful go to lures. Not sure what I’m doing wrong with the slam shady lures because they look awesome in the water
Great video and explanation of the plastics and the weight needed to fish each. I wonder if it freaks the fish out with the bait swimming by with no head though? jk ; )
I never caught any kind of fish on any type of lures. No matter if it's a paddle tail , hard plastic, spoon, top water, or spinner bait. I've only caught fish on live shrimp that's it. Nothing ever works for me. Not even fishbites works for me.
Interesting. I used to be the same way. I live in Northern California where there aren’t that many sport fish species. I had been a religious bait fisherman for my entire life up until hi school I guess. That’s when I started using lures but I wasn’t very successful. I caught small rockfish here and there but nothing too special. Fast forward to today and now I am pretty confident that I can go out and catch a fish on a paddle tail. Last week I caught a 34 inch halibut from shore on a Strike King swim bait. You just have to put in the time. It’s all about experiments and experience!
I find the zman paddle tails to be pretty effective, but I notice that it can easily pull back on the hook, meaning that it isn't sitting up tight on the jig head, and there will be a 1/4inch gap or so. On some like the trout trick, it can slid down some off the hook on almost every cast. And yes I'm using zman jig heads, some with the chin lock, but still the same results.

The zman slam shady works amazing under moonlight. sparkles under the light. Love going out to anclote with these bad boys
Awesome! 💪
Zmans are the best nuff said
I’d fish either happily. Both good lures. If you aren’t catching, it’s probably not the lure.

Thanks for the comment!
So since the hook is completly through the bait when rigged How does the slotted belly help with hook ups necause of less plastic??
Exactly correct! There is less plastic between the hook shank and the lure which creates a wider gap for stronger hook sets!

Any tips for catching reds in the river? I’ve been trying in the IRL and have had no luck ever

@@Saltstrong thank you
I wonder if you cut like 1/2 inch from the head and use this in lakes for rainbow trout. I wonder if it would work. What you guys think ?

Hello. If you excuse me, I had a question. Which node do you recommend the most stable and fluid for surfcasting? thanks

2.0 hands down. Not too keen on the white , the gold digger is where it’s at. I feel like the zman version doesn’t get as much distance on the cast
True facts! 💪
Main difference is 2.0 looks like a tampon was used as a template.

If you cant catch fish on a gotcha plug there aint no fish there
