Nah he was instructed to hold back initially, was surprised by Anakin and Obi wan, and was also just beginning to weaken due to age. Anakin knew how his rival fought and had almost every advantage in the fight whether he knew it or not.
Maybe a younger Dooku. Anakin WAS draining his stamina; had they been closer in age Anakin might have still won, but it would have surely been a longer, more grueling duel

Take that experience away, and hes nowhere near the level of a pre prime anakin. Anakin's raw power, combined with his aggressive style, would still overwhelm a younger dooku, who'd lack the seasoned control that makes him formidable. In a duel, anakin's relentless offense would find every gap in a less experienced dooku's defense. Younger or not, Dooku wouldnt stand a chance.

The thing is that he would be the best light saber duelist but his force abilities maybe not. When he lost his ability temporarily when losing to Obiwan, he had to tap into the force more than light saber. Even Sidious told him that a true sith relies on the force more than on a light saber. Sidious used them mostly to mock the Jedi
He said ANAKIN NOT VADER. Anakin WOULD HAVE been the most powerful IN FORCE ABILITIES AND THE LIGHT SABER. Even Sidious himself said that Darth Vader (who was still Anakin because he had not lost to Obiwan at that point) would be more powerful than Sidious himself AND Yoda. He would have been able to shoot red force lightning, with none able to stop it because it would be too powerful. That's just one example among many.
I also heard that dooku was to let anakin “win” and to defeat obi wan so that anakin could fully give in to his dark side…. Him winning the way he did was just icing on the cake
This was never the case. Palpatine was simply testing Anakin, to see if he could defeat Dooku, which if he did, meant that he was much better candidate for an apprentice. Dooku never intended to let Anakin win. He was to anger him into using the dark side, as it was necessary for his transformation.
Let anakin win? Thats a reach. Dooku was confident, sure, but not reckless enough to throw the fight. If anything, he underestimated anakin’s power and paid for it. Palpatine might have hoped anakin would embrace the dark side, but anakin’s victory wasnt handed to him it was earned. He overpowered dooku fair and square, and that ‘icing on the cake’ was dooku realizing he couldnt keep up with anakin’s strength.

Star Wars books on audible are absolutely god-tier. If there is one place where Disney Star Wars has been consistently excellent, it's in the production values of their audiobooks. Dooku: Jedi Lost is one of the best to have come from the Disney era, my all-time favorite however has to be Darth Plagueis.

He even warned him" Don't try it"!!! Anakin made the leap and Obi Wan was waiting on that move. Anakin lost due to his hubris and overconfidence in his new dark side power.
Matt Stover's novelisation was so magnificent as to make the film a disappointment to watch. Read it in about two days, not long before seeing the film in local cinema. The film felt flaky after what I read.
dooku also was concerned with Obi wan as he was no longer able to keep up with him, kenobi was just too fast and skilled for him now. which is annoying cuz they kinda made kenobi lose in a lazy way that doesnt make much sense, one of the only issues i have with RotS, the best SW movie ever made (and my personal favourite movie period!)
Just a little side note. Dooku lost because he wasn’t truly giving in to the Darkside. Even the oldest of Sith can win in a saber fight to the death with Anakin… The problem ultimately wasn’t in dooku’s age.

Technically the original six novelizations are considered LOOSELY canonical. They're all present in the canon timeline of books. This just means that any information in them that doesn't contradict canon, is considered part of canon.
