Judge Simpson is absolutely hysterical, especially when he is interacting with certain lawyers . He is basically such a sweet, funny and caring person....as long as you don't lie to him or hurt others. The judge must be a joy to work with, he tries to make people feel at ease. What a gem he is, we need more like him. And I love the colorful shirts that peek out of his judicial robes, matches his sunny personality.
I love how Judge Simpson can deal with serious issues but still brings some levity to the courtroom to make people feel more at ease and like he's someone they can talk to. Largely at the expense of the defense attorneys, such as Mr Killewald and Mr Feaster 🤣

Then sentence him for the same duration, in a mental hospital, as his prison term would have been. And either get him competent, or at least protect the public from him. A significant portion of that was removed here. In context, Simpson handled this quite skillfully. I watched all of this guy's cases live and Simpson's biggest problem was the guy just wouldn't admit he was using after getting positive tests. In his last hearing, Simpson tried to coax him into admitting and he just wouldn't. So he was revoked, "Mister Allen" did his thing and off he went to jail for a week or two. So, here he is here and he decided to come clean. Simpson shamed him appropriately (that was edited out here,) and, knowing when to stop, he changed the atmosphere to what we see here. It was Simpson at his best. Bringing his mother into the conversation was imparting into his mind how his using had been affecting both him and the rest of his family. It was at just the right level for his age. Simpson has been handling these cases for decades. He knows what he's doing.
