I was a primary teacher. The curriculum is mainly focused on contemporary history, i.e. monarchs. Less and less is taught of our history as the 'narrative' is what is encouraged. I only started looking at local history recently and so much is hidden today.
Thank you brother for your words, you are so right and too many people are blind to it all! Its a huge problem, my memory of history at school is exactly what you say! Alba Saor
@@ArranOfAlba You're spot on. What was the saying, 'give me one generation of the youth'. We've had generations of it - to the point very few are interested in their local history. If you're not aware, have a look at Wilson & Blackett's works. They were based in Wales but the story is similar to ours. They also got me interested in learning about our history through place names and names of fields to trace stories. Great channel!! Alba Saor
I love your videos as they are full of passion and integrity and you are taking physical steps to be part of the solution not part of the problem. The truth of Ancient Scottish culture will be uncovered by those true of heart and brave of spirit but then you have a battle with those that want it to remain hidden...I'm an Elder Crone/Druid and Spae Wife and connect to the ancient spirits of place and there were many around you. Thank you for your kind and positive words. I will remain true and keep finding folk like you that im sure can help me, i feel the energy of the earth everywhere, many spots are in pain. Thank you lady crowWolf
Hey Emma, thats awesome that you enjoy ma videos! I used to guide in the precorona world! At the minute i only have a motorbike! My plan is to get a wee vehicle for guiding after winter! Give me a shout on insta 👌👍 cheers
Thanks for this awesome video! My last name is Lackey and apparently this is where it comes from. Such a shame that the broch hasn't been taken care of, but I'd love to see it someday (what's left of it). I can't wait to watch more of your videos. :~)
Ohhhh just yesterday I was busy at that time :( I hope to join next time:D. You're amazing showing these hidden places. Good that you are sharing about them, they dont remain unknown, at least for us 🤗 and manyyyy other people who will be watching this :D We need to take down those "narratives" based in non empirical studies or very general "data". Both things I always love, your hair and the nice humor at the end of the videos. It gives us a big smile 😀😀😀😀
@@ArranOfAlba I just went to an ancient viking burial that is preserved in very good conditions. Im planning for the next year (expecting a better weather haha) to explore a little bit in the rural regions more at the north :D :D is so exciting to see those historical and ancient places. As you when im in those places i just imagine to be surrounded by the environment of hundreds or years back... when the druids venerated oaks and performed spells!!! is a wonderful world dear Arran! :D
Brown eyes and red hair- now there's a scottish tell. Rarest combo in the world next to albinism, and apparently only from one place in Scotland, according to the wee old lady who stopped me in a hurry when she saw my brown eyed red headed son. She just didn't tell me what part of Scotland! (Aberdeenshire or fife must be)
Historic Scotland are the last people I would want to look after the broch. They fill them in with stones sod they are "safe" Sorry missed the premiere but enjoyed the video
I'm totally with you in your sentiments here but jeezo! It's no BROCK onymair than there is a place cried Lock Lomond! Onywey ahm subscribing, yer daen guid wark. Greetin fae the Guidman o Baltersan.
Maybe you Arran of Alba can get permission from the land owner to cut and burn (or just stack in piles the cuttings) the toxic invasive rhodedendron that covers over 55 thousand hectares of bonnie Scotland. I also think that the Shamanic community could be a useful allie in trying to make these Brochs sacred sites that are used for sacred cultural gatherings at specific times of the year where we pay respect to our ancestors who built the brochs. I'm interested in helping you and others with a project like that so let me know what you think. Thanks for your video's and cultural views.
It is a special rock and spot! I can see where you're coming from but isn't a little small for that! you've got a sharp mind bud! I'll stick with weird thing "possible barrel hoop" for now 😜
good work historic Scotland , find the brock go up. poke a bit and find any thing of value then leave, oh well that's how they do it. .. naughty HS. run and managed by ?????
Hey Guys, Thought I would try this Premiere thing! Hope someone joins me 😁🙃

Brilliant cup and ring marks. Looks like also some blade sharpening grooves, just my guess.
The cup are epic mate, the tool sharpening thought is good but the grooves are pretty high. Cheers for the input 👌👍
@@ArranOfAlba sound 👍 good channel keep up your good work its very interesting 👍 😀 👌

@@ArranOfAlba I don't have instagram, but I'm seriously considering downloading it now!
Great work uncovering historical landmarks 👍
Cheers bud, i aint gonna stop
Same as Drumcarrow broch near St Andrews , totally neglected. Likewise countless Pictish stones in the north east , very sad.

Thanks an awesome connection to have brother, im glad you enjoyed my wee vid! More coming soon! 👍👍
That would be so cool to hide in! but that dating has to be wrong with the groove and cup marks. it feels like another power site almost.
Its a special spot Tereza 👌👍
Such a pity its been left like this historic scotland don't give a toss😢

All those rhododendrons must look amazing when in bloom! What color are they? Do you know?
Good work! Sub'ed
Cheers bud👍
The Leckies and later spelling Lackeys are my ancestors.
You're the second person to say that, check comments maybe a relative of yours. Cheers

Excellent ; lovin the attitude ; the rhodedendrons are invasive and will get worse ; looking forward to more brochs
They completely are bud.... Think ive gotta clear them!
Your wierd thing looks like a barrel hoop. So sad to see it overgrown especially as it was excavated in the 70’s. Love that cup mark stone 👍

Arran Of Alba I should have said bucket hoop, I’m thinking oak bucket about the size of an average black bucket. I’m sure you will know what l mean. 🙂
Okay.... Ill look into it now 😊
Shame to see such neglect ! 😕😕
Sure is ma man
