Matari'i is the name given to the Pleiades constellation and is used to mark two different periods across the South Pacific. When the Pleiades are aligned with the setting sun and the horizon, the period of Matari'i i ni'a begins; those are the most humid and warmest months of the year and are known for its abundance, visible on the growth of the vegetation including fruits and vegetables as well as the reproduction of lagoon fishes which increases the abundance of the native natural resources.
