  • This is my 61 inch Scag Cheetah and my 42 inch Cub Cadet ZT1 mowing the same yard at different times, almost a year apart but overgrown both times. Many people ask me how do they compare, and I've been saying that they do not compare since one is residential and the other heavy duty commercial. BUT, in a regular residential yard like this, their performance isn't really that far apart! It would be far far far different on a 2 acre estate. Enjoy this visual direct comparison. Love both mowers.

    I absolutely LOVE my ZT1. I have ZERO regrets on spending more than I originally set out to spend on a new mower a few years ago.

    I agree with your assessment. Even with Cubs biggest deck available, I have reservations about the comfort and durability of the Cub. And the added hp of the Cheetah makes a huge difference.

    The ZT1 is one of the best box store ZTRs... but nothing close to a SCAG or eXmark.... or even your ol' Great Dane I love seeing so much.

    I've done landscaping and mowing for 26 years I don't any more. I'm watching this video I find it hard to believe this Cub even comes close to a Scag especially it being one of if not the best mower out there. I've used them all I have not used the pro-z by

    The bit between the drainage ditch and the road looks like mostly weeds.

    Mike, I do hope you answer this question about 2 1/2 years ago. I think it was when I mentioned you about using high octane fuel in your equipment. At least I think you will be impressed with the results and performance of your engines on the cheetah and your new yellow one I can’t think of the namecub cadet that’s it. I’m genuinely interested in what you think or if you’ve done it I hope you will or have done it. I’m interested in your thoughts about it.

    Cub cadet for the win. How long will take commercial abuse is what we need to see

    Mike, have you had the rpm's checked on your Scag? I am betting they are low. They sound low to me. I have that same engine in my JD and I will tell you this- with them set at 3740 no load, they are at 3640 under load and under way and what a huge difference it makes in QOC and ability to cut thick grass. I have a tach installed on my JD to monitor them. My Scag has an EFI engine and it is really odd how it affects a tach. Can't get good readings off this one and some other guys I know with the same engine have the same issue with their tachs. I keep harping on putting your turbo baffle back in because you should. The deck was designed to be most efficient with it in there. By having it removed it causes a LOT of clippings to be re-circulated across the back of the deck and all the way around and out the front and that robs power. I've said this before, that CC does a good job for what it is.

      I have no idea where my turbo baffle is. Putting it back on is just not going to happen. Good catch on the rpm's. As it turns out, I wasn't throttled all the way up, and my choke wasn't fully disengaged, I found out at the end. So, it was running rich all the way through this. And it still won. :)

    The cheetah struggling a little bit the cub is cutting it just fine

      Yea, of course wider deck, 3 blades instead of 2. It's running a little rich right now too. Cheetah is 31 hp and Cub Cadet is 22. Just putting all the info out there. This video is for everyone to make their own interpretations.

    Man that Cheetah hates cutting in reverse doesn't it? Also what are your thoughts on a grass flap? Do you think it would save you any time in clean up?

    • @Something2LookAt
      @Something2LookAt  14 дней назад

      Oh yea, the Cheetah mows terrible backwards because of it's front edge baffle. The Cub Cadet mows great backwards because of no baffle. Not sure on the flap. It sprays and disperses more with it raised. So I often raise it on tall grass.
