No disc drive would end console business altogether. Used disc market is one of the key advantages of a console. You buy a game day 1 play for a week finish it and sell it to get most of your money back to get another game. If it's all digital you might as well switch to pc.
Ps5 pro is basically a price test benchmark, if it sells well....then SIE is going to be confident with charging more (around that pro price tag for ps6) in the coming years
The PS5 Pro is priced that way to make back money due to the losses of Concord. They are able to put it that high because there is no Xbox Pro and more importantly, they believe their fans will pay whatever price they set.
PS4 gen is mostly good enough graphics wise. I''d like to see games level out around that fidelity and amp up the performance levels with 60 being the minimum and having waaay more 120 fps games.
then make your own games like that. a lot of us going into game development and pushing tech boundaries but stylizing like Insomniac or Santa Monica some just like going full photorealistic like NaughtyDog not me though. I prefer Uncharted looking like Uncharted 3's pre rendered scenes.
@urmomma2688 game tech is reaching a point of increasingly diminishing returns. I'd rather they made good games with the tech we have for a while. No one is even utilizing these consoles' features all that well.
*Edit for further explanation* You don't own a game on physical media. When you buy a game on a disc you own the license to use said game. The game or content on the disc is not your property.
You could say that this will be a turning point for the gaming industry, especially for Xbox. If they get ahead with a new generation and their console is not excessively expensive, it could repeat what happened in the 360/PS3 era.
I'd like to believe that, but I feel like it's too late for Xbox to really turn around the console space. Phil Spencer said it best when he pointed out they lost the worst generation they could have ever lost because the majority of people built their digital libraries on the PS4. It's hard to pull someone away from an entire library they built and start from scratch. It's not as difficult from the Xbox side if you're moving to PC, as I did, because you still get the vast Game Pass library at your disposal. Playstation doesn't have anything like that, but moving to PC also gives you access to their exclusives as well if you choose. I made that switch and I think more and more people are going to PC rather than jump from console to console where you're locked into their ecosystem and paying for their online service.
Whilst things definitely aren't doing well for Xbox, being tied to Microsoft could definitely help them weather the next few years until the next console generation comes around. The variable-performance tiered consoles are I think a good idea (although I think they could relax on the whole 'both versions of a game need the exact same feature set'). If they can successfully corner the game subscription service, then definitely it would be a no brainer for people if you want to play a wide variety of games for a small monthly fee. Unfortunately, jacking up the prices overtime and having mediocre releases from the AAA studios they've absorbed (Bethesda, Rare, 343...), isn't going to make people stay long-term, not to mention the lack of killer exclusives that really give PlayStation a run for their money (And no, I'm not counting Call of Duty....)
If manufacturers keep pushing no physical media, I’ll keep pushing on with PC gaming. Yes PC is all digital but there’s ways around bad practices on PC via means I won’t detail here. NO TO NO DISC DRIVE
PS6 is going to be PS5 Pro price range. $700-$800. It is not going to be a $1000 console or it will ruin console gaming forever for them and I say the same for Xbox. And then Nintendo would really win the console wars like people keep denying Nintendo would. You know what? There are multiple scenarios that Nintendo got fans and gamers locked into. We are in Nintendo’s domain after all. They were the OGs of Japan and now they are the OG’s of the world. Microsoft is all sorts of heat as PalWorld is in many PC gaming markets and on Xbox.
Even though how AI has became a marketing gimmick, but honestly the one big chance Microsoft (or Sony) can possibly compete with Nintendo is by revolutionize gaming AI. I recently bought Forza Horizon 4 because it was discounted deeply. It was really fun, for around 100 hours, but then I learned that the AI opponents are actually terrible (it can be difficult, but not actually fun.) I think it's impossible to design a truly fun to play AI without resorting to advanced AI (the one Microsoft has in their servers) that learns from your behavior and countless other online players'. If they can integrate their AI processing capabilities into games, players won't even notice if they're playing against computer. It would feel like real multiplayer. Thus mitigated potential disasters like when there are too few people playing (at unpopular hours, etc.) It can also make games basically always online (which gaming companies prefer) without actually forcing people. The choice would be offline with normal AI (which is just like today's games) or online with advanced AI. I believe most people, or at least gamers who will spend money on DLC, cosmetics, etc., they will choose online by themselves. Nintendo has no capability of this, way behind tech giants like Microsoft. They will cater more and more towards kids and hardcore fans only.
@@davidsentanu7836 Man, this is Microsoft we are talking about. They fell off hard with their CoPilot+PC not that long ago and the damage was huge. But watch when Nintendo sues PalWorld in Nintendo’s mainland, Japan. You think I’m glazing when I am saying this? Not even Playstation is using AI right now. And this just the beginning of PS5 Pro. AI gaming is in under a lot of fire because AI has been f4cking with copyright ever since AI was first invented and Nintendo is going to COP! Nintendo is not going to develop AI, it is going to COP IT. Especially, Nvidia’s AI since they still are running with that Nvidia Tegra X1 chip. They are going to be the leading company of gaming, toys, marketing and will have Windows PC in a clinch and will be on a slow recovery under Nintendo, because Nintendo is not trying to be a world monopoly. There competition will still be Playstation and Xbox, but it will be under Nintendo’s ruling. But not only just that, it will mean Apple, Google and Facebook will be Nintendo’s competition until they are folded in America’s grounds.
@@davidsentanu7836 I’m telling you right now. Windows is more known than Apple and Google when it comes to computers. And Windows is getting hit both on Xbox and PC for carrying a patent infringing game, while also holding a PC gaming market in their operating systems, Windows, and the internet. The world will never be the same once they sue PocketPair.
@@jouskehigaskita8835 They actually did, in the mid-2000s. Remember PhysX? And those destructible walls like in Battlefield Bad Company, even terraforming gimmick in Fracture, etc. Turned out, having gimmicks don't actually sell games (except for the Wii, for some reason. Didn't work for the Wii U tho'.) Anyhow, what gamers want in games is, surprisingly, fun. And I think, with the recent advancement of AI, we can finally have games that are fun even when played alongside or against bots. Imagine if all games, big and small, can have player base as large as Fortnite. At that rate it's basically a dopamine addiction machine.
PS6 needs to have a few improvements over this gen to convince me: - A compact design (PS5 looks like a tiny building) - More exclusive titles (and I'm not talking about AAAs that take 4-5 years to make) - A reasonable price below $600. - And obviously a disk drive.
where have you been living? Exclusives are dead...and console generations as well....consoles are like phones now...now all PS games come on PC...and with how powerful PS5 hardware is to have visual eye candy games like Horizon forbidden west we already reached peak graphics....so beside of more frames, there's not much PS6 could offer except maybe a gimmick...becuz it's just good enough for 99% of what 99% games could ever need, so realistically 99% of games released during PS6 gen will be on PS5
I disagree. The more expensive it became, the bigger and more eye-catching it should be. People actually like owning expensive stuffs. One of the mistake Xbox did with the Series X is making it a boring non-descript black fridge. It may be a better design technically, it's relatively smaller, and probably cheaper to produce than PS5, but it was just not interesting to look at. Combined with the lazily designed controllers, it's a combo of boring design. In comparison, PS5 design was exciting. PS6 would need to look otherworldly, it has to look expensive. It better be, because I think they'll gonna cost at least the same as a PS5 Pro (with optional disk drive as well.)
@@sumomaster5585 "Where have you been living?" Damn we're off to a good start. There's less exclusives but they aren't a thing of the past. The Switch has a good chunk of exclusives as well as a huge library of third party games and It's thriving despite being a 7 yo console. I believe If the PS6 had more IPs with a focus on innovation and a smaller scope/shorter development time, It could be appealing to players and diversify Its catalog instead of perpetually waiting for big releases.
If PS6 is very expensive (like more expensive than PS5 Pro) and has no disc drive, that it will be the end of the line for me in terms of console gaming. Same with Alex's idea of eternal crossgen, except I don't think Sony is that stupid to make it so. But trying to shove another PS3 down our throats is definitely what they could try to do, and the result will be the same as the last time: people will choose something else and Sony will have a lot of damage to address to and be reminded why PS1, PS2 and PS4 were so successful despite not being very powerful.
"You know what’s crazy? I’ve noticed that with every new generation of consoles, we seem to get fewer games. The PlayStation 2 had an enormous library of games, more than any other console, and it’s wild to think about. It was the best-selling console of all time, with the largest variety of games. Now, when you think about it, we only get around 6 to 12 major AAA games a year, while the rest, like AA and indie titles, often get brushed aside. Most AAA releases tend to come around autumn, but even then, the overall number of games has decreased. One big reason is that AAA games now take 5 to 10 years to develop, and sometimes they skip entire console generations. Games originally meant for older systems get delayed and then have to be rebuilt to work on the newer hardware, which can be a massive challenge. For example, there was a game meant for the PS2 or PS3, but it got delayed and eventually released on the PS4. Despite the upgrade, it still didn’t sell well because it felt outdated, with combat systems that weren’t up to par. It’s unfortunate, but it’s the reality of game development now. Studios often have to start over when a new console generation is announced, and they don’t always know how the new system will work or what the latest trends and techniques will be. It’s a lot of trial and error."
@@zenvultraPrices that most "norms" simply wouldn't pay. If the price is too high, you'll see a flood of "norms", simply looking elsewhere to meet thier gaming needs. All norms want is a console that plays games reasonable well, for a reasonable price. They aren't interested in the specs, what "super duper" new features it has or what performance it can put out. It's the price that matters more and if it's beyond thier budget, they'll simply deem it to be too expensive and simply won't buy it. I dare say in that situation most would turn thier gaze over to Nintendo, who seem to understand the importance of keeping consoles at an affordable price for the masses. That's also unless Microsoft don't follow Sony's suit as per usual and instead release a console at a reasonable price ($400-$600) As I said, all norms want to do is just play games at a reasonable level, without breaking the bank to do so. And if all those "norms" do start to look elsewhere because of a heavily inflated PS6 price, Sony could very easily find themselves being in dire trouble financially. Sony just need to stop chasing after PC's. It's a futile race that they'll never even come close to winning and all it does is drives up the console price for very little in the way of gains. Instead they should be focusing on releasing an affordable console to the masses, with the hardware inside it, reflecting that cost (Just like with the PS5 and previous gen consoles) . BTW, most "norms" think that the PS5 Pro is far too expensive at $700. So pretty much any price tag that's much above $600 for the PS6, could see "norms" abandoning and fleeing PlayStation for other systems.
Perfectly honest I think generations will just have to be longer, at least this time around. A few extra years means we can get more for the price we're actually expecting, in both hardware and software. Forcing the next generation too early is just going to put us back in PS4/PS5 crossgen but many times worse and many times more expensive.
This has happened to third world Countries first during the ps2~ps3 transition, now it is going happen to other countries with the ps5~ps6 transition, more people are going to be priced out...
Another problem with the pricing thing is that if the price goes a little low some time later, people will have the impression they are now making a good deal, when in reality they are still paying a lot. It's the same with games now at 70 dollars. The first price drop makes it 60 and you have the same illusion you are making a good choice by buying this at this new price.
I only got my ps5 last December and im gonna use that till the side panels fall off its that good, only might consider ps6 if it can play discs from ps4 and ps5
I think the ps6 will have a reasonable pricing despite the ps5 pros high price for the following reasons: A pro console does not move the same volumes as the base version ever, so Sony would not expect to subsidize it with game sales This is unlike a base console that sells like hotcakes especially on release and has potential to sell a bunch of new software allowing Sony to afford a loss on the hardware. The reason the ps5 pro is so expensive is because people who will buy it will likely already have all the games they want but will want to play them on a better system The ps6 would sell new software to everyone, new, casual and hardcore PlayStation users
Dude the PS6 will be more than the pro you people need to grasp and understand business and technology. The PS6 will be at minimum $799-$899 point blank period use common sense. The pro is priced the way it should be that GPU and 2TB SSD isn’t cheap, best believe the GPU,CPU in the PS6 will be far more expensive
@@BUPMY1 no it won’t lol you people literally have no clue what you be talking about. I told people then that the Xbox series X and ps5 would be $500 not $399 albeit the digital ended up being $399

PS6 was originally aimed at 2027 its only likely to be delayed because of later PS5 Pro release. This was also announced back in 2022 when Sony confirmed they were going to AMD.
The push for technological advancements is pricing out the consumer in a time where lots of things are getting out of the reach of said consumers, much more important things than video games I might add. I think it's time for gaming, particularly console gaming, to press pause on technological leaps, scale back their games and focus on lowering prices while increase fun values, because games aren't made to be fun anymore.
My take is the Series X and PS5 are the first consoles to not have major hardware limitations. If Rockstar could make GTAV for PS3, any creator can bring their vision to life on 9th Gen. Graphics are definitely good enough, 10th gen has to be about using Ai to bring about innovation and reduce development costs.
Think they will follow the phone model. Give it a really high price to buy outright but provide free if you sign up to a 6 year PS+ or gamepass subscription so looks like your getting a grands worth of console for free.
It's nothing new for Sony, to be honest. They get complacent and make a console that is too expensive for the general buyer, and the buyer will vote with their wallet. Except PS3 had full backward compatibility with all the previous consoles, and if PS6 will not have a disc drive, it would also mean that a lot of people have no reason to buy it if they will not be able to peruse their physical library of PS4/PS5 games. And then Sony usually remembers that gaming is one of their most vital directions and it needs to make a lot of money and sell well to keep the company afloat.
It feels like it's still far too soon to start guessing at the capabilities of a PS6. When the PS5 was coming up, a number of new possibilities were already evident in the PC market, with nvme SSD and ray-tracing. As of now, it seems to me as though any further advances for a next generation are still to emerge.
PS6 need to have pro as plugin to that instead of new console. They could sell the pro model more of it was just a upgrade part and not full new console.
The problem with the whole pricing discussion is that people's visual and performance expectation is way out of line with the cost of reaching that expectation. We have people saying 700.00 for a home console is too much, but these will be the same people who will complain about games not being locked to 60fps in performance mode or the visual fidelity at 60fps being subpar on the 500.00 console. You cannot have it both ways....you cannot have a problem with visual fidelity of games at 60fps on console, Sony gives you a solution to that problem cheaper than getting an equivalent PC and then you have a problem with the pricing of the solution. Because these same people who have a problem with the PS5 pro pricing are telling you, you should just get a PC. Make that make sense.....the problem is the price of the console so the PC community response is to recommend a more expensive decice. This brings us to the next problem with the PS5 pro pricing discussion and is why the PC community with this sort race to the bottom mindset and trying to get PC gaming to a console pricing level are stupid. If you want better hardware than a console you are gonna have to pay than a console for it, simple as that. All this mental gymnastics trying to cut corners the make the cheapest box, by its very nature, means that you will not have the best performance or visuals or feature set and as is the case for all these budget PC builds which usually are designed to hit the pricepoint of the PS5pro but not to match it in performance or visuals or feature set, you end up with a PC that either cost more or underperforms. Which is why the controversy over PS5 pro pricing seems so manufactured at this point. PC players have always paid more for better technology but there is a massive push back when consoles offer better technology at a higher pricepoint. You willnever see PC players arguing why does the 4090 exist when the 4070 plays the same games just not as well. As such you also will never see PC gamers argue about the price of the 4090 because the 4070 exist for those people who want more affordable hardware. (For reference because i am aware idiots exist....I AM NOT SAYING A PS5 PRO IS AS POWERFUL AS A 4090, OR THAT THE BASE PS5 IS ON PAR WITH A 4070.... I am simply using these parts to represent the relationship in scale of the base PS5 to a PS5 pro.) Its just odd that people have chosen to die on this pricing hill when its always been understood that better or upgraded hardware will vost more than standard hardware. And while i can understand sticker shock, the PS5 pro pricing discussion has gone beyond sticker shock and drifted into this weird place of dishonesty where people are lying to themselves and other about the price of better technology or the performance of cheaper technology.
It's time to focus on games and not on graphical prowess. We have reached a point where to notice a difference, you have to zoom in on still images. anyone who cares about graphics more than that already has a PC. PS6 at 550 I think would be a good price point, and yes a ps mini or something for 350 or so would be a good option for kids, cod warriors and sports gamers.
I'd say by the end of next year, you're going to be able to drop $300 on a Xbox Series S to play GTAVI and FFXVI. Or maybe even the Switch 2. Any console priced above $500 deserves to fail, spectacularly.
Something people are forgetting to account for as part of the increased price to the PS5 Pro is the R&D costs for the proprietary PSSR. Especially relevant since it’s the first iteration implemented into consoles so I’m sure a lot of the premium is going to pay directly for that. The next consoles will most likely fall back in line with selling at tight margins so maybe a PS6 would run 500-600 dollars. The Pro series has always been directed at the enthusiasts.
Sure but the pssr tech would have helped the base ps5 than the pro. The upscaling tech mostly benefits the lesser powered hardware. But I think pssr is locked to ps5 pro. ( according to the ad)
@@attilamarics3374 yeah but to be fair it wasn't even that much better than base ps4 and the base ps4 already had outdated hardware while the ps5 wasn't outdated at launch and still isn't

Still not conviced...when the PS5 pro is out you will see many used PS5 for sale. You have a choice and you will have many different choices.
Orrrr, people will realize they maybe need a new computer anyways, put a few hundred bucks more into a new PC and ditch console gaming entirely at that point. If console gaming isn't affordable, has no physical media, requires online fees, doesn't deliver exclusives anymore and most games are unoptimized or just bad games in general, then there's no point.

For us Canadian US$699 already more than $1000/plus tax. I can’t imagine when the ps6 comes out. To me in general is not good for console fans I honestly don’t want that ray tracing stuff. Rumours suggest Xbox will go first with a full console gen and a hand held. Could the console be a high-end machine with the hand held being the lower cost next gen entry compromise? With Sony going, the disc drive being an optional add-on. Should both be looking at ways to make a lower base next gen console that has an optional physical gpu+cpu boost add-on of some kind that connects to the base console, making it a lot more powerful? If people want more power they can pay for it that way instead of having two skews that they hope people buy the high end. At some point, the speed of technology won't allow them to just stay as a cheap console.
I'd go for a holographic media disc, 600 GB in a single disc, much faster than BD, and more stable than a SSD. No physical media=no buy, I'd stick to PC in that case
I think there will be 2 SKUs but not in the way that Microsoft approached it with the base system being the Series X and the Series S being an underpowered variant. I think it’ll be a PS6 and a PS6 Pro at launch with disc drive sold separately for both
I think making a Pro console at the start of the generation makes a lot more sense. The problem with the mid cycle upgrade is that a lot of earlier games will miss support for it because not all devs will go back and patch their games for the Pro, however if both normal and Pro models launch at the same time all games will support the Pro with better graphics, resolution or fps options. Sadly i think its very unlikely that Sony will do this approach for the PS6, but im sure the disk drive will be sold separately.
@@lutherh6090 yeah but the difference is what’s marketed as the base model and what’s marketed as the variant. In the case of Microsoft the underpowered Series S is the cheaper variant and the more expensive Series X is the base model. What I’m suggesting here is that there will be a base model PS6 probably for around $500 and than a more expensive Pro Variant potentially at $700 or more at launch. Pretty much the same dynamic between the base PS5 and PS5 Pro but at launch instead of it being a mid gen refresh.
Just go back to ps4/Xbox one graphics and just use the power for physics and games would be absolutely amazing. I mean 2018 graphics are good enough if we could just have more realistic acting games. I mean it’s a no brainer imo
ps6 comes out than unreal 6 comes out and its again too much for the new system and we get sub 1080p to 4k upsacle...the neverending loop. or...finally we will have a system that everything is 4k 60fps as the minimum.
I think they should have stuck with a 1tb drive and dropped the price 50-75 bucks. No one even paying attention to storage space or upgraded performance only pricing.
What they should do is sell the PS6 at a loss to encourage people to make the upgrade sooner rather than later and then sell upgrade modules so we don't need to buy an entire new console.
The PS$600...My guess is £599.99 for a PS6 (no disc drive), then a pro model will end up being £800-£1000. It;s going to have to be at least 2TB space and that won't be enough space. If CoD/GTA/RDR/Horizon and all these big games are going to be 150-250 GB now, they will all be up to 500GB files size by the end of the next year or so/next gen.
The Swedish preorder price just got announced and it is absolutly mental! The PS5 Pro will cost the equivalent of $1035 USD to preorder. And if you want the disc drive and stand the final pricetag will be $1214 usd. PS: Sweden have the highest taxes in the world so $700 usd? HELL NO, almost twice the price of that! The PS5 Slim is $700 usd in Sweden!🤣
I think ps6 will cost either same as 5 pro if not less but not more. Sony has been selling their major line consoles at loss to their core/general player base since ps3 and their Pro versions (niche product for their enthusiast or non-poor player base) for the profits. So PS6 will be around 700 or less and then 6 Pro will be around 700 if the non pro is less than that or around 800 to 900 if PS6 will be around 700.
Yep - next gen needs a 1080p60 console for the mainstream, that can still play the latest games. £250 is affordable. £400 upwards isn't going to grab the largest audience if the cost INCREASES over time. There's still room for the high end kit - but it needs to be tiered, and needs to be an OPTION.
Dude that’s not happening lol 1080p 60 was over a decade ago it’s a wrap. These upcoming consoles will be borderline PCs and will be powerful like we’ve never seen in consoles before. People just need to get off their behinds and get real jobs tech isn’t cheap

Since the PS5 Pro is $700, the PS6 would have to be $800. They can't go backwards and make less money. Businesses never do that. It's expected though. The classic winner gets arrogant. We've seen this so many times throughout history. Sony is pulling a PS3 where they won so handily with the PS2, they think they can can do wrong. They are currently beating Xbox in a similar fashion so they think they can do anything and people will buy it. If they go $800, all Microsoft needs to do is go $500 their next console and they'll win back that generation as long as they actually focus on content again.

I’m a collector of mint & boxed Playstation consoles going back to PS1. Plus, I’m a physical media collector. This non-physical drive PS5 Pro + the asking price, has put me off collecting. For sure. My main issue isn’t the price (PS3 was expensive on release), but the direction Sony is heading in not supporting physical media collectors PLUS looking to take the control of future game media away from consumers. I find this highly offensive and a bit evil. I also WILL NOT be buying the PS6 regardless of price.
The PS5 Pro is a bad index for future PS6 price, The Pro consoles are not designed to be mainstream consoles, Sony is not expecting to sell 100M Pro consoles, but you can be absolutely sure they are expecting to sell 100M PS5 and the same with future PS6, so PS6 will need to have a more appealing price. Also i really hope Sony does not make the XB Series S mistake on next gen. If they want to make 2 consoles i hope they keep the same CPU/GPU on both with the difference being maybe in AI cores or RT capabilities, but not on raw power...Or else it will lead to the same problem MS is having with Series S right now. Or maybe the next gen will be a tandem of portable and home consoles.
Mark my words. PS6 will be 549.99 Usd. Microsoft is praying Sony slips up and makes it 700, Sony wont give them what they want. Not a chance, they wanna have the ability to keep saying "we're outselling xbox by 2x/3x" and be in good graces with the people. If anyone thinks it'll be 700 especially after this outrage going on with the Pro theyre out of there minds
As someone with a series x I could just hold out for when the next gen console is in sale. Since my series x fine. I'm expecting criss gen games next gen. I wasn't expecting as many as there was and I may not of upgrading this gen if I had known that. I might as well just use onto my series x until games don't run on it anymore. Then upgrade.
@BUPMY1 we are halfway through this gen. Even if it is slightly worse. If it holds until I can get a next gen xbox on sale or used, my plan will succeed. Games have still been coming out for last gen. The next call of duty is still coming to last gen. I wouldnt be surprised if cross gen lasts even longer this gen to next gen.
Probably $599. $499 would be too underpowered. $699 is way too high. I honestly could see it being similar to PS3 launch but $599 digital, $699 physical.

No disc drive would end console business altogether. Used disc market is one of the key advantages of a console. You buy a game day 1 play for a week finish it and sell it to get most of your money back to get another game. If it's all digital you might as well switch to pc.
not even optional disc drive,ps7 will be stream only gaming, this is it for me, i do not pay for streaming.
gonna start playing old games i guess
I think the integrated disc drive is dead. costs to much to keep around as a base feature when hardly anyone uses it.

PS5 Pro marks the consolidation of higher prices. I could buy a PS4 Slim for €239.90 (+2 games) in 2017. Now PS5 Slim is €549.90 (itself).
They will be $900-$1000 for the disc less version because the current hardware already is 3 generations behind PC, probably 4 behind in 2028.

PS4 gen is mostly good enough graphics wise. I''d like to see games level out around that fidelity and amp up the performance levels with 60 being the minimum and having waaay more 120 fps games.
Devs don’t get that though
That is completely up to each individual development team. Sony, MS and Nintendo have no control over that.
then make your own games like that. a lot of us going into game development and pushing tech boundaries but stylizing like Insomniac or Santa Monica some just like going full photorealistic like NaughtyDog not me though. I prefer Uncharted looking like Uncharted 3's pre rendered scenes.
If you want a console with 60 fps at the minimum, either you'd have to halt the progress of game tech or release a new gen every 4 years to keep up
@urmomma2688 game tech is reaching a point of increasingly diminishing returns. I'd rather they made good games with the tech we have for a while. No one is even utilizing these consoles' features all that well.

You could say that this will be a turning point for the gaming industry, especially for Xbox. If they get ahead with a new generation and their console is not excessively expensive, it could repeat what happened in the 360/PS3 era.
Xbox is done 😔and this is coming from someone who has a OG Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One X. There's zero reason to buy their console anymore.
That's what they tried to do with the Series S, and it didn't work out.
A duel boot PC console with a hybrid dock able handheld?
Will be cheaper?
By then you'll likely be allowed to pay with your major organs as a method of payment.
Console prices are subsidized at launch. Later, they improve the manufacturing process or 'adjust' prices or both.
Thus mitigated potential disasters like when there are too few people playing (at unpopular hours, etc.)
It can also make games basically always online (which gaming companies prefer) without actually forcing people.
@@davidsentanu7836 true honestly with the increase of cpu and gpu they should focus more on gimmicks than slight graphical improvements

Turned out, having gimmicks don't actually sell games (except for the Wii, for some reason. Didn't work for the Wii U tho'.)
Anyhow, what gamers want in games is, surprisingly, fun. And I think, with the recent advancement of AI, we can finally have games that are fun even when played alongside or against bots.
Imagine if all games, big and small, can have player base as large as Fortnite. At that rate it's basically a dopamine addiction machine.
PS6 needs to have a few improvements over this gen to convince me:
- A compact design (PS5 looks like a tiny building)
- More exclusive titles (and I'm not talking about AAAs that take 4-5 years to make)
- A reasonable price below $600.
- And obviously a disk drive.
PS5 looks like it came off a spaceship & i like the design.
where have you been living?

This is a benchmark for Sony to see who is foolish enough to buy. If they make enough profits then they'll price it high

That's also unless Microsoft don't follow Sony's suit as per usual and instead release a console at a reasonable price ($400-$600)
As I said, all norms want to do is just play games at a reasonable level, without breaking the bank to do so.
If this becomes more standard in their pricing the PS6 better go all out with specs
£800 UK pounds 😂
I wouldn't mind a $700 console if it came with a disc drive and was a decent leap. 5000 series equivalent gpu
I think the ps6 will have a reasonable pricing despite the ps5 pros high price for the following reasons:
A pro console does not move the same volumes as the base version ever, so Sony would not expect to subsidize it with game sales
This is unlike a base console that sells like hotcakes especially on release and has potential to sell a bunch of new software allowing Sony to afford a loss on the hardware.
The reason the ps5 pro is so expensive is because people who will buy it will likely already have all the games they want but will want to play them on a better system
The ps6 would sell new software to everyone, new, casual and hardcore PlayStation users
Dude the PS6 will be more than the pro you people need to grasp and understand business and technology. The PS6 will be at minimum $799-$899 point blank period use common sense. I think it’s currently headed towards a 499 and 999 price point to satisfy both casual and hardcore gamers
1 million dollars pinky finger to side of lip !
At launch:
PS4 = $399
PS5 = $499
PS6 = $599?

Shorter 24-hour length games with a 5-hour bonus material and more substance in the games that's it. We'll have more games that way.
They keep making race cars with barely any tracks to drive them on …
The problem with the whole pricing discussion is that people's visual and performance expectation is way out of line with the cost of reaching that expectation.
I am simply using these parts to represent the relationship in scale of the base PS5 to a PS5 pro.)
Its just odd that people have chosen to die on this pricing hill when its always been understood that better or upgraded hardware will vost more than standard hardware.

Not from an XBox.

That is basically what the Series S to the Series X is. Plays the same games but at reduced resolution/frame-rate.

I don't expect PS6 to be as expensive as they will be expecting to sell more units.
Dont worry about how much PS6 pro will cost. Worry about making enough money so you don't have to worry about the price by then.
Ps6 better have a disk drive within the console rather that side bs that can be removed and in a way encourages no disk consoles
Zen6 , rdna5 on TSMCs 2nm node ain't gonna be cheap
The Swedish preorder price just got announced and it is absolutly mental! The PS5 Pro will cost the equivalent of $1035 USD to preorder. And if you want the disc drive and stand the final pricetag will be $1214 usd.
PS: Sweden have the highest taxes in the world so $700 usd? HELL NO, almost twice the price of that! The PS5 Slim is $700 usd in Sweden!🤣
At first I was like man cool fact, but then yeah no that’s fucked ☠️
And Nintendo 3DS!! (was also reduced in price)

Arsehole.

Dude - you were probably farting and playing PS5 in your bedroom at your Mum's house while I was spending PS5 money every few days travelling around the US and Caribbean.
Other people have these things called... 'lives'.
I'd say it would be around $849 Usd
if you already have a pc its a no brainer to upgrade your gpu lol i just up graded to the 7900 gre this is a great card and will be as time goes by. and i think if sony keeps up with vr more power could be need. and i wonder if we would be benchmarking vr games later down the road
The biggest generational leap will be the price
My hope is the PS6 is $500 for the base and $1000 for the pro but make the pro insane and available day one.
How insane the Pro 6 got to be to have a $500 increase?
I will be setting aside the money for a PS6 starting now. But I won't buy one until there are at least 10 games worthy of playing on it.
Some of the most popular games are 2d sprite indy games
We need 4k 240fps at any cost by 2027.
The PS5 hasn't really got started yet. Games not optimised. It's games we want not another console.
Or maybe the next gen will be a tandem of portable and home consoles.
ps6 and next xbox will cost about a 1000 and will you run steam and epic
The PS5 pro will probably go for 499 euro or less when the PS6 is launched at 799 euro.
It will cost as much as team Sony is convinced we are willing to pay for it.
I personally wouldn’t pay more than 550
In Europe it costs 880$.
Well done Sony...
Well they usually take a loss on the consoles and make it back through the games so probably not as expensive as the pro.
It will cost 999 if the world economy gets worse and companies greedier
I decided to just upgrade my GPU instead of PS5 Pro.
It depends how PRO will sale. I assume it should be around $499 of today money
Cross Gen might be worse next gen.
I honestly could see it being similar to PS3 launch but $599 digital, $699 physical.
xbox really should compete
Microsoft doesn't care about Xbox.
@@DeadPhoenix86DP I know. That’s why we’ll continue to be shafted on price in future
Wait and find out. Maybe everyone will be rich and afford a ps6 when it comes
$200 but it'll come with no accessories or cords and those will cost 200 each. power, tv connectors, controller, controller power cord 😊
At that time will cost at least 1100$
This is the wrong question! PS6 PRO is the question
Groundbreakingly, the PlayStation 6 will take games away instead of merely not having any.
*1000€/$* 🤡🤡🤡
But will run Jedi Survivor at 1440p & 60fps with RT on.
The Pro 6 should be able to run it.
