  • Proof that charming things come in small packages. 'Colin McAndrew and Co.' is a diminutive 0-4-0 steam locomotive which arrived on the Mountsorrel Branch line last year. It now undertakes regular demonstration shunting on the Quarry floor near the Mountsorrel and Rothley Community Heritage Centre.
This film takes you behind the scenes of the preparation of the locomotive for a day of work and then shows off the shunting. As you can stand at track level close to the action it's very popular.
To find out more about the branch line and the Mountsorrel and Rothley Community Heritage Centre, head to heritage-centre...
There's lots to see on site including covered museum buildings, even when the railway is not running.
The branch line connects to the Great Central Railway at Swithland. You can find out more about the railway at www.gcrailway.co.uk
