    I just love blueberries, so I planted 2 twigs(2 future blueberry bushes). At first, they were sad looking, and I think I planted them in too shady of an area becuz they weren't changing, producing leaves, or growing like I thought. So I moved them to a sunnier location, along with my 2 raspberry (twigs) bushes, and they're growing much better and getting some little leaves, too. So glad they didn't die.

    HAH love your story. We got hitched in Lake Tahoe. 1st we got stuck in the hotel elevator and almost missed our own wedding. 2nd the directions to our outdoor wedding were really vague and we got lost. 3rd we had to jump a guard rail to walk back to a clearing that overlook Emerald Bay on Lake Tahoe. It was breathtaking. We are 29 yrs in now and laugh about it all!

    AVON Skin So Soft is used to keep the sand fleas from biting. I’m a native Floridian. CVS pharmacy sells it in their stores. They don’t bite when the sun is bright but in early mornings and late afternoons, they can be horrible near the beach.

    I have started using Growers solution weed fabric as a border around my beds. You can mow right up to it and water and air pass through. Only tip is to put the staples at the edge to keep the mower from grabbing the fabric. I don't put mulch on the fabric to keep weed seeds from sprouting on top of fabric. Living Traditions homestead uses it because they have high weed pressure in Missouri. Oh, also, don't cut the fabric, use a torch so that it doesn't unravel😉

    Enjoyed your "beginning" stories and photos! Helpful hint for your blueberry beds; make a rock or brick border. I helps with weed eating if you make it to where it slants inward, rather that vertical. Good luck!

  • @Pooch1953
    @Pooch1953 3 года назад

    Without using harsh chemicals, I go around the border of my porches, and a rock garden by spraying a solution of white vinegar, Epsom salts, and Dawn (blue) Dish Detergent, spray early on a sunny day and by mid afternoon all the grass and weeds are browned and dying. I do this a couple times a year to keep new weeds from coming back, also between the gaps between the step stones in front of house, along edges of driveway. It only kills what you spray and nothing surrounding the area.

    Surround the mulch with native perennials for the pollinators. Some choices are common milk weed, straight species echinacae, rudbeckia, short goldenrod, asters, monarda. Now you can forget about using the sickle.

    I use an all natural weed killer around all my beds, it only kills the weeds it touches. It basically dehyrates the plant. I even spray in my flower beds on weeds that come up through my mulch. It won’t harm the soil if you want to plant in the area you’ve previously sprayed. Mix one gallon cheap white vinegar, 1/2 a container of cheap regular salt and 1/4 cup of cheap dish soap. Mix in a sprayer and spray the weeds early in the morning so the sun works to dehyrate the plant. Make sure you spray all the leaves. You may need more than one application to kill tough weeds. I found the recipe on the youtube channel Acre Homestead.

    Were you married before your children were born? Thought maybe this was a vow renewal ?

      I was also curious. If all those children are both of your children, why did you decide after that much time to get married? It does seem like a good idea, because I've heard of people being kept out of emergency rooms or whatever because they were not quote family unquote. Anyway you both looked gorgeous and too young to have kids that old!

      It could work, but it might fling wood chips everywhere. It's actually pretty satisfying to do it by hand sometimes.
