If you'd like the read the books in the Cosmere, I'll recommend you the most common order people tend to read his works: - First Mistborn trilogy - it's his most famous trilogy, and usually people find it a good point to start. It's a good "bridge book" betweem YA and adult fantasy. - Elantris - This is Brandon's first published book, it's not "as good" as his later stories, so most people will tell you to read it first so you won't feel much of a shock between this book and others. Warbreaker - This book is a standalone and is currently the one that has the most "cameos" inside the Stormlight Archive series, though it can be read alone, and you don't need to read it to enjoy the Stormlight books. That being said, it's amazing and definitely worth it. Mistborn Era 2 - These books are set in the same world of the first trilogy, but much later in time. It's a western like setting and the books are shorter than most of Brandon's works. The Stormlight Archive series - This is Brandon's big epic fantasy series, and, imo, his best work as well. It's amazing and worth the buildup of having read all of his works to enjoy this. Also, what is the "Cosmere"? - The Cosmere is basically our Milky Way, it's a galaxy full of planets, and all of the stories above take place in different planets, all inside of the Cosmere. The fun part is that some characters can be seen in different worlds, which adds a whole new layer of mystery. Finally, Brandon has Skyward, the Reckoners, Alcatraz vs The Evil Librarians etc which are book series separate from the Cosmere and can be enjoyed on their own at your own leisure. I personally recommend both Skyward books currently out, it's a YA sci-fi and absolutely awesome!

One of the reasons I don't like starting big series before they are finished or at least almost finished, is because then I may have to go reread the whole series by the time the last book comes out. And if the books are big books, that takes a long time. And I mean, in the case of ASOIAF series, people have been waiting over 10 years....
You will really like The Blade Itself. I listened to the audiobook and it was fantastic. I have also delayed reading The Burning White. Need to refresh the story in my mind as well to get back into it.
I put off reading A Little Life for years until I one day felt ready. And thank god I waited because even though I knew it would break me I had no idea it would be that painful. However, it’s also one of the most beautiful books I’ve ever read. Friendship, love and compassion have never been so realistically portrayed in a book! I cried a lot reading it, but mostly at the beautiful parts. I’ll definitely read it again one day!
I started Gardens of the Moon a couple of years ago and stopped about a third of the way through. I could tell it was going to be good, and I was intrigued, but I was SO confused. I was also at a time in my life where I had limited time to read, or was reading in short bursts, which did NOT work for that book haha! It is a “someday, but not now” book for me!
Girl. I have been staring at Dune on my shelf. It's just staring back at me, waiting for me to pick it up... When you read it, do a vlog . I need your thoughts!
I listened to the audiobook of Lore and it was pretty fun and managed to capture my attention when I was dnfing books left and right at the beginning of the year.
DUNE. Same! Was so excited about it initially and then have steered away from it in fear ever since I brought it home. I’m scared it’ll take me so long to get thru that I think I’m going to save it for the end of the year so it doesn’t slow down the rest of my TBR. Good luck!
I have read the blade itself it's was so good just finished before they are hanged will be reading book3 i'm planning on reading lore soon the heaviest book on my tbr is priory of the orange tree and column of fire by Ken follett 😀😁😃🤔😬😳
I'm intimidated by The Prophets by Robert Jones. I'm not religious so I'm worried a lot will go over my head, but the story just sounds too beautiful to pass over. I started reading it but had to put it down, because it was just to literary for my tired brain. I'll try again over Spring Break. Wish me luck!
Try The Blade Itself on audio. The narrator is exceptional and adds so much to the already amazing story. Up there with Sanderson and Hobb for me and I’ve read all of their books. Chef’s kiss!
If you're an experienced fantasy reader the first Malazan book is actually not too hard to follow. My friends hyped it up as insanely complicated for years but by the time I got around to reading it last year I actually found it a lot easier to read than I expected! so don't be too intimidated, it is a great book with a really really interesting world!
This inspired me to do my own version of this video! And it’s only right that Way of Kings makes an appearance considering you’re the reason I finally started reading (and loving) Sanderson!
I'm also so intimidated by Malazan 😅 I've heard the same description as you and it just seems so absurdly complicated. And I'm a big epic fantasy reader!
I think if you like Oathbringer, you'll like Rhythm of War. RoW felt like a combo of books 2 and 3 but obviously with its own continuation of the plot haha. I adored it and am so excited to reread RoW to catch all of the details I inevitably missed on my first excited read through. :P I hope you talk about spoilers in future for Stormlight cos I'd love to hear your faves and why in the series!
Random: in relation to the ancestry bit, I recently learned that my great great grandmother’s name was Kunegunda which I find hilarious and fascinating. I can’t stop talking about it, and one of my kids will probably have it as a middle name 😂
Read A Little Life. Its the best book I have ever read. I know its sad, devastatingly so, but its also weirdly beautiful. Its like a message saying, despite the pain of this character, he met these beautiful and good people that he made a huge impact. Good comes after sort of message. I read it a year ago, and every single moment is still stuck in my head and I hope it never leaves me.
For Alexandra Bracken, have you read the Prosper Redding duology? Because it’s the only thing I read of her’s and it’s why I wanna read Lore. Prosper Redding is a middle grade duology about a boy with a demon trapped inside him and it is one funny sassy demon and it’s such a fun read. We have very similar reading tastes you and I so I think you’d actually enjoy it
I just started reading Dune literally two days ago. In the first chapter, you're like: what is going on???? But as you keep going you realize what a cool world and characters Frank Herbert has built. I've been also watching Dune Club by Comic Book Girl 19 to help me understand what's going on and dig into the characters and purpose of the series and it has really made reading the book so much fun. I recommend you pick it up soon :)
I have not read too much of Malazan yet, but the characters are definitely great in my opinion! They all have their own backstories and motivations and there are several great strong female characters as well!
I just started the Blade Itself yesterday and I already love it. I'm usually a plot driven reader but I'm hooked. I know what you mean about not wanting to start a series until you wrap other things up. I dont want to start the Stormlight Archieves until I've read Mistborn and Elantris first. I'm curious, do you have a fantasy book recommendation for someone who likes the Dragon Prince Series on Neflix? I absolutely LOVE that show and would love to read something similar.
I’m currently reading the First Law trilogy and it’s SO GOOD! I’m absolutely loving it. I totally get what you mean by having to finish some other series first. I’m in the same boat for sure
Regan, when I read Dune last year, I partially listened on audible and the audiobook is really excellent - helped me a lot. I don’t read a ton of sci fi but it was SO GOOD.
I personally really enjoyed Lore and tore through it, but I've never read any other alexandra bracken so I don't really have a frame of reference for her other work though. That said I would check out Thoughts on Tomes goodreads review because there is a lot of really potentially triggering stuff in that book and though I enjoyed the book and she didn't she gives a really nuanced critique that includes trigger warnings that might be helpful
I just finished Dune a couple days ago and loved it! It was definitely out of my usual comfort zone but the story was so interesting and the world building was so well done.
Dune is a wonderful blend of sci-fi and fantasy, and honestly, leans more to fantasy (in my opinion!). It has a HUGE world and amazing world-building. It is written very differently than modern fantasy/sci-fi and can be a little slower at times but it's so worth it. Highly recommend :)
I just finished Lore and it was OK for me. It was a bit convoluted, and I didn’t connect with the characters the way I wanted. I agree with you that you’ll love The Sword of Kaigen. It is so well done. This video is helping to convince me of my commitment to mostly stick with completed series because I hate having to go back and re-read books just to be able to read the next one in the series. My TBR is just too long for that. 😀
Completely agree on Plain Bad Heroines! It starts off so promising but the characters and pacing were huge let downs. I stopped reading it about 75% through because I just couldn't commit to finishing it. 😣
I feel the same way about The Darkest Minds! I read Lore and it was just kinda...ok. I had a lot of issues with it, but it was also a page-turner and the premise was really interesting :)
I was intimidated by Dune as well but the audio book helped me get through it! It’s quite dense but theres TONS of twists that make it worth the read! :)
Hello! I also have The Gardens of the Moon, for maybe 10 years in my TBR and yes is a awesome book (I have read like 100 ,150 pages) but yes is a little intimidating and perfectly dark, also the series meant to be the base for a new card game (like magic) and I never understood that part, so for me the all series a little bit more overwhelming. I hope one day we can began and finished the book (and with luck the hole series) and past the intimidation part (Pd your channel is awsome!)
Rhythm of War was said to be slow, even slower than Oathbringer. Makes it frightening to read it. So, yeah, I've also been avoiding spoilers for almost 4 months now. You're not alone Raegan. 🤗
@@myribstellmesheslying to me rhythm of war is the best book in the series. it has the best characterization, best writing, and best worldbuilding. don't be too frightened to read it, and don't listen to other's opinions too much! just read it and judge for yourself 🙂
I’m currently reading Dune! The only other sci-fi I’ve read is the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy which is a lot lighter but I’m loving dune! It’s very detailed but not too difficult to follow I don’t think but I am also reading a much lighter book at the same time (get a life Chloe brown) to balance my reading out
I started reading The Burning White this month and I had to put it down. I will finish it one day, but this one is just too long. I know the last three books were over 700 pages and while I enjoyed them I did get bored at times this one just had me feeling like it was a chore I never wanted to complete every time I started listening to it on audiobook. Good luck whenever you do finish it!
I would pass up A Little Life. It was so ridiculously tragic with no point to the story except to make the character’s life the saddest thing you’ve ever read. If I could unread it I would! The trauma was literally on every page. I think people need to be very careful when they recommend this book bc there are soooo many triggering topics. It’s a very hopeless story.
I'm currently reading Gardens of the Moon and i can say that the characters definitely feel very much flesh and bone, very well realized to me. The first half was slower but it gets more and more interesting as you go along the story and find out more about the world and the lore. Still, Erikson does just dump you in the middle of an incredibly well built world and then set the said world on fire. 🤷🏻♀️ Still, i can't wait to get to the rest of the series. In this house we stan Tattersail.
Malazan is not as bad as people say in my opinion. I was intimidated too but I love it and the complexity. I found myself having to reread sentences a lot and constantly forgot names, but that was the worst of it.
Hey! About Malazan, the characters in at least Gardens of the Moon are very deep and very human, I got very invested in their stories, and yes the malazan series is not a character focused story but that doesn't mean the characters are just there to fill a role, on the contrary. I was very intimidated by it too, but I decided to just jump in and it was the best decision (btw is not as boring and dense as they say). I hope you get to read it one day and enjoy it! :)
I actually enjoyed “Lore” quite a lot and Alexander Bracken is a bit of hit or miss author. Personally, I found it a fun ride, so if you just need a fun fast paced book it might be for you. Also I feel the same as you with “Plain Bad Heroines” totally my vibe, especially since I read so much horror in 2020.....but yea, I feel you with that book.
I make a ton of reviews for different (mostly indie) books. I'm a big fan of Brandon Sanderson's work, and I have a bunch of Brent Weeks novels. Question: Would you consider doing a readathon with another BookTuber?
I just couldn't with the black prism. I DNF'd the first book half way through because Kip was just a protagonist I couldn't enjoy. I'm sure he grows in the future but I couldn't handle it. Also the way the author wrote women really bothered me. I just all around wasn't enjoying it so I put it down and I don't plan on giving it another shot. The magic system was cool and it was why I picked it up in the first place so I was disappointed with this one. But hey it just wasn't for me!
I actually picked this book up and I didn’t pick it up for so long I just got rid of it. It’s such a large series and idk why I was feeling like it wouldn’t vibe with me and I’m kinda happy with my decision. It sounds like a good magic system but just too large for me
@@nenerson1195 Agreed. I couldn’t believe I was reading almost a full page of him talking about a pair of boobs/nipples. It made me so angry. I did love the series but when I think of it the nipples section comes into my head and leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

If you do decide to read it I would make sure to read about all the trigger warnings before hand (it has quite a few).

Hope you had a nice day, hope you have a nice evening.
You will really like The Blade Itself. I listened to the audiobook and it was fantastic. I have also delayed reading The Burning White. Need to refresh the story in my mind as well to get back into it.
Lore is awesome!! Definitely give it a try!
I just picked up Winterkeep and Im super exited to get to it. So many books and not enough time 😄
It’s so cool that you were sponsored by ancestry! That’s super exciting. Your nurse ancestors must’ve been very impressive people.
I dropped Lightbringer HARD when I read the scene with Gaven and the balcony. It was so chaotically stupid I couldn't keep going.
I've read Rhythm of War, and I think it was FANTASTIC and I'm loved the direction Sanderson took with this!!
I hope you'll have the time to read both Rhythm of War and The Sword of Kaigen soon! They are some of the best books I've read! Enjoy, Regan!
Personally for me the most intimidating is The Priory of the Orange Tree - it’s still on my shelf and I haven’t read it yet!
DUNE.
LOVED LOVED LOVED Priory! Enjoy!
Loved this video, also you said you were going to do a top 10 YA fantasy books video and I can't wait for it :)
I liked Lore a lot! My main complaint with it was I wanted more mythology and less modernization. But still a fun read
The bangs are superb on you 😍💛
I’ve not read Lore yet but, since I’m part of a Greek Mythology themed book club I will totally read it soon! I love Greek Mythology so I can’t wait!
Hi Regan! Please recommend some more amazing and fun fantasy series like Keeper of the Lost Cities💖
omg can't believe I'm in time for this updateeee love your videos Regan! They fuel me through the week
I think stormlight book 5 is slated for 2023 so you've got time!!
Don't be intimidated by Dune! The world building starts a bit strong but the rest of the book isn't as difficult as everyone makes it out to be.
Sarah Lockwood
Hope you had a nice day, hope you have a nice evening.
I don't know if you had but if not try the Inkworld books by Cornelia Flunke. I think that you would totally love them. Love your content!
I'd say a single Billy bookcase would fit on the left of your existing book cases or is the plant hiding the space available from us.❤
I just started the Blade Itself yesterday and I already love it.
The size of A Court of Silver Flames intimidates me 😅😂 But I know I’ll read it soon
You will totally love the blade Itself, matter of fact, the entire trilogy. Go for it :)
Nice video.
Looking forward to your review of Lore! I'm very curious about it
I just finished Dune a couple days ago and loved it! It was definitely out of my usual comfort zone but the story was so interesting and the world building was so well done.
I feel you on Gardens of the Moon x) i feel like i have to build up my high fantasy reading skills before jumping into it
I am currently rereading the first law trilogy and I feel like you will love Glokta
My most intimidating book is The Eye of the World. I'm really excited to read it - it just feels like such a big commitment lol.
Moving all these books to another apartment will be a hustle
If something intimidates REGAN I’m in trouble... am i still going to the bookstore to buy some of these yes
I feel the same way about The Darkest Minds! I read Lore and it was just kinda...ok. I had a lot of issues with it, but it was also a page-turner and the premise was really interesting :)
I absolutely loved LORE by Alexandra Bracken!!!! I thought the plot was amazing!!! And the ending is just ajrnskeuwjnsj!!!
Just finished Sword of Kaigan and LOVED it!! Something I would love to reread
I really need something scary. I'm quite intimidated too but I think sometimes scary stuffs are thrilling ✌️
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Lore. I remember enjoying The Darkest Minds series by her when I was younger.
I hope one day we can began and finished the book (and with luck the hole series) and past the intimidation part
(Pd your channel is awsome!)
Rhythm of War was said to be slow, even slower than Oathbringer. Makes it frightening to read it. So, yeah, I've also been avoiding spoilers for almost 4 months now. You're not alone Raegan. 🤗
Oathbringer>rhythm of war. Heck any of the books within the series>rhythm of war. I don’t feel like the story moved enough for me....just me
@@noveltea5587 now you just scared me more. Thanks.
@@myribstellmesheslying u got to read regardless if you wanna be ready for the next saga. Do not worry Brandon will not fail us!!!🧐
@@noveltea5587 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
@@myribstellmesheslying
to me rhythm of war is the best book in the series. it has the best characterization, best writing, and best worldbuilding. don't be too frightened to read it, and don't listen to other's opinions too much! just read it and judge for yourself 🙂
I’m currently reading Dune! The only other sci-fi I’ve read is the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy which is a lot lighter but I’m loving dune! It’s very detailed but not too difficult to follow I don’t think but I am also reading a much lighter book at the same time (get a life Chloe brown) to balance my reading out
The top four on my TBR is:
Dune
Shadows in death
Midnight Sun
Wicked
The most intimidating books on my TBR are 1Q84 and Priory of the Orange Tree, but I swear, I’m going to read both of them this year
Sword of Kaigen is a standalone companion to her YA Theonite Wars series. I'm tempted to grab them both. 🤔
i'm currently reading a little life and it's so beautiful i love it so much😭
I started reading The Burning White this month and I had to put it down. I will finish it one day, but this one is just too long. I know the last three books were over 700 pages and while I enjoyed them I did get bored at times this one just had me feeling like it was a chore I never wanted to complete every time I started listening to it on audiobook. Good luck whenever you do finish it!
I still need to pick up the black prism books! I’ve had the audiobooks on hold for so long now
Jay G
Hope you had a nice day, hope you have a nice evening.
Thank you for this comment!! This def changes my POV a bit
You aren't missing anything. Gav has this really weird obsession with nipples in the second book, and it never seems to go away.
@@nenerson1195 I was already confident in my decision to DNF but that just really reiterates it. Wtf.
