Hey Chovy I went out with my brother from Bodega the day before you and we had the exact same scenario. For hours we pulled empty pot after pot. We kept moving around. I've never pulled so many times without a crab. Not even a little one. Then we started getting several at a time but mostly in a very concentrated spot at the exact time of the tide you showed! We ended with 17, but I was beat from pulling all day. So interesting to see you have the same experience 60 miles away. We could have easily gone home empty if we didn't stick it out.... Like you said, same thing with halibut and rock fish. Except the rockies like the tide moving.
It has been good for me this year with 1 hour before during and after a slack tides. I love a slow day too because I will be on the water longer. I don't need to go back to the craziness. Being on the water all day is blessing. Yeah baby. Colors. ❤. PS: your yellow hoops produced lots of crabs for me this year.😅
It has been a grind this year in alot of spots. I was just in Tomales Bay last few weekends and I found that that time of peak tide was better and i had better luck leaving the hoops soak longer. Thanks for sharing TLA you always give us great content.
Dang man! I did the same thing in HMB a few weeks ago. Identical... Got out late wasn't catching anything, tide shifted, and they showed up! Went home with 7, a couple of which were gauge busters.
Way to stick it out and go with your instincts. Its been a weird start to the crab season. Experiencing same thing in Bodega. Only thing consistent is the inconsistency. I like to pull them about 15-30mins after the switch in the tide. "Saves heart aches for everyone", that was perfectly said about the buoys in the jetty entrance. Always enjoy the videos!

Nice one what do you think renting a storage space at that kayak rental place i think they charge 30 a month to store your own personal kayak
💛...so, does this mean that you're 'in-tidal-ed'...?
