Maybe after you figure out the thickness that works best, you can try to find it in the color that you want to use so the area of the track where the cars actually run doesn’t have to be scenicked so that paint and weathering don’t interfere with the smooth running.

I like the concrete loading ramp but on the other end I would have left the original ramp so that it looks like they have to move it into place otherwise there is no way to move the rail cars since it would look like there is concrete on both ends. Plus on the off load ramp there will not be a problem getting the cars over the film sheet since it will nbe the same thickness all the way along and off loading
David thanks for the comment but you need to see Episode 20. Which will show you how all this turns out. The cars go onto the first Ramp but they don't come out of the Auto Rack. This is meant to show loading the cars only and not coming out if you know what i mean. But watch the last one and let me know what you thoughts are cheers Robert
That is very cool what you’re doing, I actually live pretty close to a Car industry and they have a good amount of tracks for Intermodal yards it’s cool to see them load on it. It’s NS’s St. Louis that runs through it
I'm coming in late to the series, so perhaps the autorack operation is outlined in an earlier episode: but I'm guessing there will be a view block between the two autoracks? Else what we see is that they're trapped between the two concrete ramps!
Yes the last ramp will be hidden by a shed, and a Auto Rack will be at the end of the shed as if it's one long Auto Rack, so you see cars going in but not out cheers Robert

That is really neat. Does it sound as loud is it is on camera? I hope not. That would be the only turn off for me would be hearing it at all. It would have to be silent or as close to silent as I could get it or it would annoy me to no end. It's your model though and if you are happy that's all that matters. I still think it's an awesome idea and has turned out great. Thanks for sharing, you have answered some questions I had about that system and how it works. 👍
William this system will always have noise, and the camera is right next to the motor which makes it louder. But when i have Locos running you want hear the Magnorail i hope cheers Robert

I'm testing the 0.5mm styrene and so far it works ok. But i can also get 0.25 styrene but am having trouble finding this. But i will use this as roadbed as well cheers Robert

I was thinking, if you got an enclosed autorack at the end of the consist, could you bash a ramp into the end car? (so the car disappears through the autoracks floor), so you then can have open-air sidings without a building covering the end
Why don't you do this with Faller car system? Would be much easier and movable parts under layout (error sensitive) could fall out. Car can also continue with it's own electromotor straight over Autorack.
The problem with Faller is that you cannot choose your vehicles and they are all mainly European styles. The Magnorail System allows you to put any type of vehicle on the track and you don’t have to keep charging the battery, plus you can have them stay in a tight sequence as the magnets are spaced where you want. Finally, what you pay for 2 Faller vehicles in Australia, can buy you a Magnorail starter set and then you can buy or use whatever vehicle you want, Clyde - Magnorail Magician - www.magnorailoz.com.au
The reason was as Clyde said below is i can use many more ho scale cars than faller can offer. And the cost of the cars out play the faller system cheers Robert
Yeah both solutions got advantages and disadvantages. If this magnorail fails or stuck you have to destroy part of the layout. By Faller you can modify almost any HO vehicle. Maybe it's more expensive, but under layout you got just wire, no mechanical parts. I agree with Max Supercars, with Faller Car System it's easier and also looks true to the original. Then you can also drive several vehicles independently (digitally controlled) onto the cars. Also with different distances to each other, or also different speeds. They stop then also individually on the wagon and not all vehicles on the monorail system are fixed. With a little skill you can convert any HO vehicle to a Car System.
@@arndeckhardt6552 Yeah. Faller sells also conversion kit for trucks. The passengers cars are smaller, so it's harder to put in all the stuff. But electromotor, battery and steered front axle should be not so hard to integrate. By RC cars it's harder because you need place also for servo and receiver. But as I said. He’s talking about the piece under the car that is visible in the video when the car makes the u-turn at 3:15. I didn’t see it on the other cars.

Looks good, but I think the original ramp is more realistic.
