    In real world driving I don’t find you sacrifice fuel economy going with this engine over the 4cyl Turbo. If anything, it’s even better. We have averaged 25-26mpg since new in mostly city driving with some freeway. We get 33mpg avg in straight freeway driving. That is light years better than it’s direct competition.

      Should be able to double press power button to truly turn off everything without locking the doors.

    I know this is a year old video, but we own both a 2023 BMW X3 M40i in Tanzanite Blue Metallic / Mocha vernasca leather (just like the one in this video) and a 2023 Porsche Macan GTS in Black Metallic / Black leather with 18-way seats. Yes, the Macan was $30K more. I am not sure it is worth that extra amount. Get so many compliments on the Tanzanite on the X3, but the seats are so awful, hard as a rock. If I didn't know better, I would think they were the base seats. I keep looking for ways to make those seats more comfortable. The Macan is so much more comfortable. Perfect vehicle for me would be the X3 exterior and Macan interior. Just my two cents.

    I’m cross shopping this with a Volvo XC60 Recharge. Interior in the Volvo is nicer…higher quality leather, but not a fan of the infotainment system - much prefer the buttons / knobs in the X3.
    Volvo specs all their XC60s with all season tires though, regardless of wheel size, while most X3 M40i’s come with 20 or 21 inch wheels with performance or high performance tires. Not a fan of that. You’d think all season tires would be the default, and then if you lived someplace like FL or AZ you could switch to performance tires if you wanted. I live in a state that gets snow. Actually had a BMW salesman tell me that because of AWD, it doesn’t matter - that you could still drive in the snow with performance tires. BMWs own website says performance tires are NOT for inclement weather, and high performance tires are for dry conditions only! Guess salesmen will say anything to make a sale. 😂

    • @MrTresto
      @MrTresto Год назад +2

      "performance tires" is just a generic term. It's winter right now and I have ... high performance WINTER tires on my car, it's my second set (and I run summers from April to Nov)
      So I have no clue what your dude said about which tires. There's winter tires, all season tires, and summer tires, and they all have various degrees of performance variants, albeit, summer tires are ALWAYS high performance, and the lowest grade summer tires will be more sticky in correct (over 40F) conditions than the highest grade all season tires, the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4 (different from Pilot Sport 4S, these are summer tires)
      Anyway, yes the X3 M40i 21s are summer tires. For the 20s you have several options.
      If you are questioning the use of summer tires on a performance vehicle, I don't know if the performance vehicle is for you, as you obviously never take turns fast, otherwise you'd know the huuuge chassis difference and how the XC60 Recharge was not a competitor... This thing handles like every SUV, not much grip and lots of body roll, it's a luxury vehicle that happens to have a bit of electric power... That's not what the BMW is...
      Anyway, go for the Volvo, you'll be happier. Or consider Audi Q5E, it's wayyyy faster and snappy than the Volvo.

      In terms of driving aspects alone, yes, the Macan is better in every way. BUT, the BMW X3 M340i is more luxury focused, plus it’s cheaper. You can pick and choose what you value…

      Macan GTS or S are a lot more money. Yes they are much better and faster, but you will have to pay a lot more. Plus locating one is tougher too.
      I’m a Porsche guy, but love the X3M40 mainly because of parts are more available and a heck of a lot cheaper. B58 is used in a lot of things too.

      I don’t know. I cross shopped this to a Macan S and this felt more exciting, fun and engaging AND has more practicality AND is faster AND cheaper. Which is not a knock on the Macan S but this just seemed to be more fun. Perhaps the Macan is more clinically perfect but I wanted to have fun driving

      Well, nothing stays the same…except for you maybe? BMW has a better reliability rating than Honda, Volvo etc. they have improved and have their engines really buttoned down well. Which is why Toyota selected the B58 (the same engine as this car) to power the Supra GR. What I think is hilarious is this. Buy a BMW one or two years old. Save yourself a ton of money and you have plenty of money to cover any unexpected costs that may pop up. I know someone who has been driving BMW’s exclusively since 2005 and has had NO major problems at all. He doesn’t lease either. Basically at this point you are spouting off a meme, but there are a lot of ways you could justify “taking a risk” on a BMW without breaking the bank. With rising complexity in all vehicle brands…reliability is taking a hit across the board. If reliability is your primary concern then buy a Toyota…but we both know why they remain reliable don’t we? You can’t stress a car out with only 204hp. That’s their game. Vehicles that are so under-stressed, lack dynamics and handling save for a couple models. Of course a RAV4 will last forever. 🤷‍♂️

      BMW usually good for 80-100k miles then time to open the wallet. They do drive very well. I just test drove an Acura MDX Type S, a competent, well built car with sporty pretensions, but just kinda boring and blah. You probably won’t have to repair it much but if you want a bland and forgettable car it’s the one. The X3M or m40i just a lot more fun.

      One might get an M235i, X1, or X2 for the badge but an X3 is a legit BMW and those who know BMWs well usually gravitate to the smaller true RWD-biased BMWs like the 2, 3, 4, X3, and X4. They are the best driving BMWs.
