David Bergeaud will always be one of the most under-recognized and under-appreciated composers in all of human history. This isn't just some of the best video game music of all time, it's some of the best music humanity has and will ever produce and could ever possibly experience.
he's just so consistent and creativity with his wide range of instruments and sounds. He captures the atmosphere perfectly. I've used his scores for countless creative writing pieces in shaping my sci-fi worlds. Grateful!
This has to be one of my favorite tracks fro this game, if not my favorite. I like how the first part of the song conveys a dire sense of urgency, fitting the fact that the shields protecting the planet have fallen at your hands, while the second part gives off a more melancholy, determined impression, supporting how you are attempting to fix your mistake in damaging the shield generators while destroying the shield jamming arrays.
@@AvieRaptor For some awful reason, Insomniac wanted to incorporate orchestra into the newer games. Given the fact that after Tools of Destruction, was gonna be David's last time working on the music, yeah, it does feel empty.
One of my faves from Deadlocked. I love how the music evolves with the games and you go from the funky chaotic goodness of RC1, to music that has a sense of urgency, despair, and deeper meaning to it. It goes to show how far Ratchet has grown, with him not only just saving his own planet, but several other ones too. David Bergeaud did an amazing job with these OSTs ❤
Dallas is even a character in the Future series ao it's most definitely canon, but I agree about porting it to ps4. Jak and Daxter was ported, why not this gem too?
I would say its the last golden age of modern games tbh. There arent that many great games out nowadays which is sad. Even Rift Apart wasn't as memorable as Deadlocked or the original trilogy imo. It still had potential though
0:00 - 0:49 Starting up the challenge and jumping up using the jump pad. You get the sense of how high up you are above the clouds. Maybe taking a minute to pause, take in the scenery. Apposed from backwater planters, a graveyard, alien planet, mining facility, and a frozen tundra. This is a nice change of pace. 0:50 - 1:37 But you know you can't catch a break. This isn't the time to be thinking about a possible vacation here on Stygia's pink sandy beaches. You understand that that if not done quickly, Stygia will fall. People WILL die and it will all be at the hands of you, simply because you weren't fast enough. The cries of the innocent as they watch your struggles, praying you can turn the meteor defenses back on in time before the planets eventual demise. 1:37 - 2:05 Cast your doubts aside, ready your Magma Cannon and Dual Vipers. You're here to save Stygia. You're not here for the money, the fame, or the babes. You're here to stop Vox from a possibility second disaster like this from happening again. This, is your theme. Now fight. Then the song loops. Incredible.
1:16 to 1:37 makes me jump around. It feels like cheers and prayers to you/Ratchet and your/his bots from the people of Stygia. It would've been great if there was a timer for Stygia. The feeling of time running out to save the planet and it's inhabitants from actual destruction by meteors would've been nicely reinforced.
An interesting notice about Stygia's name is that it's based on Styx, one of the two mythical Ancient Greek rivers [the other being Acheron in Western Epirus] which people would cross so as to descend to the Hades' Kingdom or the Underworld. Styx, according to Strabo and Hesiod, was implied to have all variations of the blue color and a large endless fog. The implication of the name [lit. tran: "Land of the Underworld"] - combined with the colors and the fog stretching across the embattled planet - really encapsulates the aspect of Death and the Despair amongst the citizens of Stygia that they might suffer from energy deficiency unless team Darkstar restores the energy output which had been almost nullified by Vox Enterprises...
I felt for the first time a PLACE have a heart beat. And that mine beated along side it. I felt that i MUST do all necessary things to have it live. I felt i fought for and with stygia.

I love that the gritter tone of Deadlocked came with the byproduct of necessitating David to go hard as fuck on the soundtrack
That’s why I love this game so much
"Oh, talk about bad luck! Team Darkstar has damaged the control tower! The shields are down! THE SHIELDS ARE DOWN!
Was that too dramatic?"

@@AvieRaptor not the same without him, ps2 era is much better

1:16 is pure space bliss
One of the best tunes in the series.
That’s what I thought!

Such an atmospheric track, combined with the tense stakes and the stormy backdrop it makes for a really memorable level.
I really want Ratchet Deadlocked to be remade for the PS4 and ACTUALLY recognised as a canon Ratchet and Clank game
Arif Hussain it is cannon
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's considered canon. Ace is referenced over the intercom at the prison in A Crack in Time
@@jebreski Tools of destruction
just ported to modern systems. Ain't keen on ground-up remakes, they usually fuck it up

god, this game has the best soundtrack in the series
1:16 Best Part
3:21
Iove how David always sneaks in Ratchet and Clank series Main theme in different tunes lol 1:02
I noticed that the last levels of these games tend to have the Main theme - must be a sign of a literal 'Home Stretch'
He's a god
why the newest games dont sound like this, man
1999 to 2006 was a different time, man.

Stygia had a really heavy backstory
You feel it too, Hero. I applaud that you exist, Z3R0Dark50.

This was my favorite track. I can’t stop enjoying this track.

Definitely one of my favorite stage themes in this game
0:49 seems like R&C3 Koros theme melody
0:50-1:16 amazing
I always remember a cloudy atmosphere when listening to this song.
Back when RC had attitude. I miss those days.
Low-key this is probably the all around greatest ost in the entire Ratchet and Clank series.

it's so good
Hey boss, when this is all over, id like to do it again....and again
I never noticed this reuses the motif from the dogfight remix from 3. That drumwork!
My personal favorite, love it 🖤
