My first hand drill fire was made with an old mullein stalk, I was amazed. I have also smoked it (the leaves) to help with seasonal allergies when I was camping, it really helped. I couldn't believe that smoking anything would help breathing but it did. Thanks for the vid.
In case someone needed help fast, would it be okay to pick the leaves and boil/steep them while they still fresh and green? Or does it have to be dried first?
Yeah you know I find Mullen high and dry often, Love everything about it. Gets Me out, Is feel good when I find it, Feels good when I touch it, It tastes good when I drink tea from it,
Mullein has anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties, so can help with heat rash and jock itch, as well as a liner in your socks for blisters. Also doubles as a 4x6 pad for wounds and cuts.
I've seen mullein growing everywhere in the USA. I think it grows in Europe, Russia and China too. Was stationed in South Korea, 1985 to 1986 in the 2nd Division. I believe I saw mullein in Korea too.
Thanks corporal. Your knowledge is of great benefit to us all. When you do a video like this, you may also want to cover similar looking yet poisonous plants so that people can be aware of lookalikes like foxglove.
I just dried these leaves today, it's so velvety. It would make excellent toilet paper. I'm growing two plants I foraged and transplanted. It's a herbal remedy, and a lifetime supply of Apocalypse toilet paper.
I am making a mullein oil with the flowers and drying leaves for tea. Was glad to come across your video, giving me more uses as a bowdrill spindle, and fish attractive. Awesome AF.
Not so sure I'm talking about the same plant, but a similar looking plant covers entire hill sides in the Central Great Basin region, and dries / dies, making for a exceptionally noisy stalk on Antelope in the area. By late summer almost all of it is "dead" and a "dead giveaway," making it the bane of my existence. Interesting to see it has some other uses besides "evil crackle plant."
Nice video. There is quite a bit of that stuff around my country here in the hight desert. I didn't know about the medicinal properties of smoking it. As far as eating it, do you know if it actually has much caloric value?
most plants don't have a high caloric value, they were gathered with everything else and mixed up and eaten, stinging nettle has the higher protein value than any other green vegetable
I have a couple questions for you about the mullein plant, actually the flower. How do you get the seeds out of them after the flower has gone by and is now a seed pod.
I transplanted a mullein from a parking lot to my place. It took well and started to go long stem and now has flowers. I just saw it today and what i thought were bugs, appeared to be the seeds stuck on the fuzz on the stem and the leaves that must be falling out of the flower pods. Makes them easy to collect.
I collected some in fall and made a smudge stick to use later and cut off the seed pods put in a open tall bottle upside down and this spring I've found they dried and there are tons of seeds
That is cool beans about it being a fish paralytic. Also probably better than the business cards I used to wipe myself too.🤗😣🤗 The mullein here doesn't grow anywhere near as large. Maybe because of the colder, shorter growing season. I have eaten a couple of leaves just to have it under my belt.🙄 It tasted like very mild lettuce to me.
I grow it at my house and I can say that some of plants will flower the first year which nice to get the more medical parts. Only been growing it for 3 years now so I'm not sure if its from flower inducing fertilizer or if some plants just flower early
Funny, this is the second Mullein plant video to show on my feed today..probably because I was looking For natural herbs for allergy relief for my hubby. He's on regular pharmacy meds though so I need A site that has info on what not to mix.. Good short video Corporal! Oh btw, the other video said it IS ILLEGAL TO fish using the method you mentioned..because of paralyzing effect and detrimental to other water denizens....in an emergency though..🤔I figured the small leaves look like fish, you could maybe use one on a hook as a lure???lol!!🐳🐟🐠🐸
I harvest these plants, second year, growing wild on my property and I have to wear long sleeves or endure my arms itching, so I would not recommend wiping it on a delicate area until you are SURE it will not cause undesirable affects there!
In case someone needed help fast, would it be okay to pick the leaves and boil/steep them while they still fresh and green? Or does it have to be dried first?
I found some yesterday in Ashley National Forest in NE Utah. I thought it was mullein and checked YT today and yep. Found it right on the side of an old dirt Forest Service Road. The old stalks from last year were 3-6 ft. high.
If you were to use mullein leaves to wipe how would you wash your hands? Would just scrabbling them in a river be ok or would that contaminate the water??
Corporal, Thank you for the informative vid on the useful mullein plant. I have heard it has benefits to women and their feminine health. Have you heard this?
Hope so, because if it keeps women wandering around in the woods looking for it during football season, it will have tremendous benefits for men and our manly health.
i only came across this 2 weeks ago and cannot get any plants till next year seem's i can grow it outside here ik the U.K. , thought it be good for my mother has C.O.P.D. talked to a few florists who are also looking forward to stocking this herb
When I was a kid on the farm running wild I made the mistake of using Mullen for toilet paper, wouldn't recommend it unless you want to be digging at your bum all week. That is some itchy stuff when the fuzz comes off in ytour butt. Bad idea.
You might not want to claim "no discomfort" when using mullein as toilet paper. The hairs on it can be very irritating. Lamb's ears would be much better as tp.
Im 75 years old and have been seeing this plant in the woods forever. Didnt know what it was. Going to the woods tomorrow to harvest some... Thanks.
Our family has been using mullein for as long as I can remember.
It one of Mother Nature's wonders.

Cannabis smoke helps with a lot of respiratory issues and so does organic tobacco.
@@billwilliams9897 yes, I’ve smoke green leaves all the time, they don’t need to be dried.
Steeped in boiling water for 5 minutes then strained and mixed with a dollop or raw honey makes an excellent tea.
Thank you, this is the reason I am here!! My neighbor brought me a bag of it. 😊
Yeah you know I find Mullen high and dry often, Love everything about it. Gets Me out, Is feel good when I find it, Feels good when I touch it, It tastes good when I drink tea from it,
Can ya tell me please, does the first year plant have medicinal properties?
The leaves also make good wound dressing, because the fuzz on the leaves encourages blood clotting.
Good to know
Thank you Corporal. Good to know these important things and good to have someone teaching them.
Stay safe be strong live free.🌎☀️🌧️

Lol it's a whole new world when you discover medicine that's actually good for you .Mullein is awesome
Plant does contain oxalic acid, use a green tea sparingly, and do not mix with other medications. Some people can have reactions to this plant.
Loud and clear and straight to the point 👌 👍

I just did a garden tour video with a gardener in Denver and he had many types of mullein in his garden!
First I've heard of this plant but I'm just starting out. Very well explained.
I wish I'd known about this when all the toilet paper disappeared from store shelves a while ago.
Nice, I always just thought I would resort to using a flat rock to scrape myself clean but a soft fuzzy leaf? GENIUS!
Wrap the fuzzy leaves around the flat rock
Hand held badė s. Are great for cleaning if there is water. It doesn't use much water either.
I just dried these leaves today, it's so velvety. It would make excellent toilet paper. I'm growing two plants I foraged and transplanted. It's a herbal remedy, and a lifetime supply of Apocalypse toilet paper.
One of new favorite plants over the last year
wow that plant is all over Michigan. thanks again Sir
Dried stalk and seeds is great firestarter,....and can also be used as a torch.
I am making a mullein oil with the flowers and drying leaves for tea. Was glad to come across your video, giving me more uses as a bowdrill spindle, and fish attractive. Awesome AF.
I first had this plant growing in my yard, didn’t know what is was ,but looked to cool to weed wack to down . I’m glad I didn’t.
Great information!! Thank you so much for sharing!!

This helped a lot. Can you use the second year leafs the same as the first year?

Wondering about Canada can you find it . And in its first year does it have the healing properties. Thank you for the video

You cannot take the pods once they turn brown, break them open and 1000s of seeds will fall out
The stalk is very straight. Would it make a nice arrow?
That is cool beans about it being a fish paralytic.
Also probably better than the business cards I used to wipe myself too.🤗😣🤗

Very illegal to use for fishing
*""Sincerely Sir, / big bro, Thank you for this video & education Sir""*
Sincerely, Paul~
I just made some Mullein, and wild lettuce medicine.👍 Along with some "Yarrow" oil.
I grow it at my house and I can say that some of plants will flower the first year which nice to get the more medical parts. Only been growing it for 3 years now so I'm not sure if its from flower inducing fertilizer or if some plants just flower early

Thankyou. Great INFO. .GODBLESS
The dry flower spike can be dipped in tallow, and used as a flaming torch.
I harvest these plants, second year, growing wild on my property and I have to wear long sleeves or endure my arms itching, so I would not recommend wiping it on a delicate area until you are SURE it will not cause undesirable affects there!
Good to have you back!
never left, I was and still am undecided on the whole googletube deal
Wow wish I knew more about plants and what they can do.
Thank you I've just discovered this place wouldn't move to North Carolina I'm trying to learn more about next is the learn how to extract
Do the seeds have to be stratified?
That is really good info considering I have asthma
Cool. thanks for watching
It is one of the best kept secrets .... Natural native American Valium....yep
With the Great Toilet Paper Shortage of 2020, this is even more relevant. Now I know why my Yorkie scrapes her ass all over the grass.
I know this is an old video but can you demonstrate how to wipe the "other regions" with this plant leaf... 🤔
In Tennessee we call it Rabbit tobacco.
Toilet paper of the woodsman is what I know it for lol
We used it as Mullen tea to help you when you were sick
In case someone needed help fast, would it be okay to pick the leaves and boil/steep them while they still fresh and green? Or does it have to be dried first?
Isn't also called-verbaskum?
Bloody well right , Verbascum Thapsus.
+.......Good stuff Corporal ! Wado !
Where can I order the sort in the video
There is an abundance of mullein in eastern WA, it’s spreading to western WA now
I found some yesterday in Ashley National Forest in NE Utah. I thought it was mullein and checked YT today and yep. Found it right on the side of an old dirt Forest Service Road. The old stalks from last year were 3-6 ft. high.
Thanks for sharing. Rob-
Apparently it can be turned into a pain reliever as well but im unsure of the process
The stalk looks like it might make a good arrow shaft too.
maybe.....thanks for the views
nope, too weak. Best is wild rose shoots.
This is a great mullein
ummm, the tea is a natural pain killer.
Do you know how good? I am always looking for alternative pain killers. I hate opiates and my sister is allergic to aspirin and most tylenol.
Good video! Thanks!
great video.thank you
Thank you for this!!
If you were to use mullein leaves to wipe how would you wash your hands? Would just scrabbling them in a river be ok or would that contaminate the water??
As you mentioned before I watched the whole video.... lol
that's incredible

hey good stufffff thank you,,, God bless ,,1776,,,
Smoked to relieve asthma 😂
I nearly fell off the chair when he said that. It is meant to be good for respiratory issues. Used in a tea though. Not smoked for goodness sake.
When I was a kid on the farm running wild I made the mistake of using Mullen for toilet paper, wouldn't recommend it unless you want to be digging at your bum all week. That is some itchy stuff when the fuzz comes off in ytour butt. Bad idea.
Joshua Mayberry maybe you need to use the leaves on the one year old plant, before it grows the stalk?
I agree... that fuzzy stuff, is not ok!
Neighbor told me fuzzie was painful to bum hole. Was not comfortable. Maybe you have to wipe in certain direction!
We can all wipe our asses on it and dry it later and smoke some real shity leaves for a respiratory problems
You might not want to claim "no discomfort" when using mullein as toilet paper. The hairs on it can be very irritating. Lamb's ears would be much better as tp.
