the city policy is a joke. I work two jobs since 4 years ago. One of them is a dishwasher from 3pm to 1am midnight. Recently, my work hour reduced because business owner hire a illegal migrant for $5 per hour with cash. Guess what? My rent is increased, food is expensive, pay taxes in these several months. Where are my rights?
It's the fault of your employer. Until they stop paying these illegal immigrants they will never go away. Can you imagine paying no taxes? I can only imagine. I pay a lot of income tax. Can you report your employer?
They want people to come back to work so they can pay the insane toll and transit fees. They should focus on their ‘trust fund baby only’ economic policy before they ask people to get back to work.
Well time to carpool or bike to work. Deal with it. I’ve never worked remotely and had to work at the job site all through our Covid. Suck it up buttercup.
Even before the pandemic a lot of people worked from home part time because they could get more done, especially tech and science jobs, programmers, graphic designers, editors. Now what, we're just going to say that's all bad because we want them to spend money on transportation, pretty gross and chaotic
@@mrsleep0000 Not everyone. My girlfriend kept up her numbers while working from home. She was the only one in her group to do that. Coincidentally she was the only one who wasn’t laid off last year from her group when they closed her department in California. Her company moved us to the East Coast.
It's about freakin' time. It's been five years for goodness sake. Stop milking the cow and get these people back to work where they belong, not at home in pajamas.
I worked through the pandemic in the supermarket as an essential worker. If the government declared everything back to normal and asked people going to work in the private sector. It’s fair that city employees should return to their offices too. I also need to point out that some doctors in the public sector don’t even see their patients in their offices because they prefer telehealth phone visits on their convenience over their responsibilities. They only work in their offices one day per week but get pay for five days from public health care. We don’t even know what they do on the other four days while they’re not in their offices, besides those phone visits. And I don’t believe they positively diagnose most of their patients’ problems over a phone call. How can we keep paying taxes to keep them employed while we can’t tell if they are doing their jobs at home or not? Some changes and regulations are needed to ensure their productivity!
What is the point in making everyone be in person if it's proven a good percentage of the work can be done from home. Your on a computer all day at either location
This city worker milking the shit out of work from home, if the worker choose to work from home the salary should make 30% deceased !! Start from the top if the supervisor can’t work from home, this hybrid bs would not be happening.
Why do these people talk one way then do the completely opposite? Forcing workers on site is bad for the environment (that is obvious) and bad for the workers.
I have friends that work for the SF goverment, and most seem so bored during the day that they are texting me, shopping online and planning their vacatins...while I am running from meeting to meeting and skipping meals. I am not against hybrid-work but that perk is being abused for sure.
Misleading. Most city workers are three days in the office right now that's the mandate. This news clip makes it sound like most city workers are 100% remote. That's not true.
Why are we paying taxes to maintain buildings when the workers are not even there. If you look at the delays in processing and lack of professionalism citizens have been receiving. This is un acceptable. They need to be in office, now not later..
WRONG! City workers are not absolutely *not* working solely from home- three days in the office right now that's the mandate. This news clip makes it sound like most city workers are 100% remote. That's not true.
This was a major mistake on the part of SF - they should have never allowed City employees to work from home for so long. It’s very difficult to get people to come back after 3-5 years staying home. They are Not going to come back on their own. If the Mayor wants to revitalize the City- he needs to mandate City employees back to work. Leadership is tough! The Mayor of Philadelphia did the right thing - I applaud her courage.
remember they get paid $200k/year... if they want to keep that cushy job, they'll come back. People in the private sector also didn't want to, but now their employers are tracking their GPS during work hours
That city needs to get even tougher about crime, hire more help to get it done and to stop voting different Dems thinking things will be different. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is the definition of crazy.
34k employees on the SF Tax payers dime and citizens are living in danger still. This is absolutely absurd. They need to audit these workers progress..
Absolutely ridiculous that city employees are not going to the office. If the city doesn’t lead and mandate workers work in the office, how could you expect private company to come back!
What are you saying ? Private companies lead their own. They operate separately. Makes no sense for you to say city workers need to lead return to the office
Yes, must mandate all CIty and County government employees back to the office 5 days a week. That should greatly boost the local economy and ease the budget deficit.
I fully support hybrid work arrangements: Monday and Friday work from home but Tuesday thru Thursday must return to the office. That rule has been enforced by many private sectors. City hall needs to follow suit. There is no excuse for city employees to work 100% remote because now COVID pandemic is over. Time to force them to come back to office or they will be fired if they refuse
You can't spend money there because all of the businesses have left. Also, these people should probably do what they're told to hold onto their jobs right now because the job market is tough right now, lots of ghost jobs and layoffs going on.
You want to work for the city and get all those great benefits then you have to work in the city and spend money in the city. Otherwise find another job. You need to be present, available and coordinated with your coworkers and teams. Face to face.
