Can you measure neck depth at 1st and 12th frets ... that and general neck shape, radius, and nut width I find very useful in determining if a given guitar might be for me. Thx for your review.

@@willgo7898 Thanks bud. I can only provide for the Jet as the PRS has moved on now.
      1st fret - 22.3mm
      12th fret - 23.3mm
      Nut width - 42mm
      It's a fender modern C
      9.5" radius.
PRS is 8.5" radius and is slightly more chunky and a bit more rounded than the Jet. Apologies I don't have the other measurements for the PRS.

@@GeeLovesEmo Thank you mate! Unfortunately no 😬 They're the same. The JS450 ones are much better (locking), but that's around £300.
      Here's my 2 best options:
      1) Get a set of "Vanson" locking Tuners (£33) drop in replacement - massive upgrade. (Simple to install - easier than changing strings).
      Or
      2) if you don't hate black Guitars and you're in the EU/UK - check out the Fazley Phynica FSST 720. It "IS" the Jet JS400! Exact same guitar but only like £85!! (They're about to be discontinued - only about a dozen left). You'd still want to upgrade the tuners though.

Yes the Prs has cleaner more distinctive sound than the Jet but not by leaps and bounds. However the price difference gives the win to the Jet, just put locking tuners on it. Thanks for sharing!

I prefer a neck to have a bit of meat on it....I haven't tried the Silver Sky but from what I've read it sounds like it would be a better choice for me...I'd have to get rid of those hideous grey tuners though and stick on some mint/snot green Kluson style tuners.

I have the Jet, see me playing it live on my YT on stage, it's amazing value, however, the trem springs did need replaced, after a few months, a cheap fix, and like any guitar a setup for the action, but out of the box, the intonation was spot on. With strats I'm not too picky. So long as they are set up well and have a flatter neck radius which is not hard to find. I also prefer C shape necks. Tuning stability is important, but I don't use a trem much more than Gilmour, so no crazy stuff. Also, I need noiseless pickups. I always end up modding my guitars. Rarely do I find any guitar perfect out of the box. If a guitar is good enough out of the box and doesn't break the bank, then I do the rest to get it where it needs to be. A Jet would probably be a good mod platform.

Youre a naughty man, Steve Cassidy Guitar. The points spread is much closer after listening to your thoughtful explanation and evaluation. It is surprising that Jet comes ready to party for under 200 bucks, with the ability to squirt some money into it to either make it perfect OR to go batshit crazy with off the wall mods and still come in under the PRS. The sterility of the PRS is a common issue to the brand where they do make a consistently good guitar that has sort of become the benchmark for what a basic guitar should do-theyre victims of their own consistency and success. I did hear that John Mayer drivers a full sized Mack truck with no power steering, and that he raw shifts without a clutch because his monster hands will crush a normal automobile..so I also register 5 by 5 on PRS necks being for the big paws crowd and too meaty for normal digits folk. Jet looks like a fine choice to start with or to perform wicked experiments on without feeling bad.

I'm pretty happy with my JS-300. It's also in sea foam green. I might need to replace the jack, it's a little bit flimsy. Also, the fretboard and neck are two separate pieces, but both are of course roasted maple. I can clearly see a line, and around the frets 7-9, there's almost like a little gap, which would be very annoying on a more expensive instrument. I did replace the string tree to a Gotoh round one (not rolling string tree), and I don't know if it makes any difference, but it feels better and looks prettier. :)

You’re an awful man Steve, I solely hold you responsible for my recent purchase of my first ever Jet JS400 🤣.
I’ve only got one Strat to compare it too, my (also recent purchase) Harley Benton 25th Anniversary Strat. And it doesn’t come out out too badly tbh. I found the Jets pickups to be a little more harsh and raw (ceramics v the hb’s alnico’s) but not bad - but a little playing around with the Amps eq definitely improved it (less treble & more bass basically). And she sounds decent. Probably an upgrade for the future but in no dire need atm. I found it holds tune very nicely. The nut seems to do it’s job quite nicely and I added a little nut sauce just for god measure 😉. It looks amazing in its vintage yellow finish and ……here’s where it might actually beat the HB - weight, only two knobs and input Jack on the bottom 😎. It’s lighter than the HB by almost 2 lbs. The HB is a whopping 9lbs 😮 that’s Les Paul weight imo. And being a Les Paul player I can’t get used to that top knob being so close to the strings (ye f€&ked up there Fender 🫵) So the Jets simpler 2 knob layout is a very welcome addition to proceedings. No more turning the volume down mid solo anoints of myself 😉 And Loving the Jack at the bottom also (Les Paul dude and all)
So again, cheers for all the info and videos etc on Jet, I had literally never heard about the brand before coming across your channel (steady on) and now I’ve a brand new one here right beside me. I see it as a great house guitar, jamming etc or a perfect modding platform for future gigs etc. It’s a Win Win. Cheers again mate
Oh and btw, The Jet wins this one. No desire to own a Prs. Can’t stand their ‘we make amazingly innovative ground breaking guitars, and while your at it check out our strats’ 🤦‍♂️ Jet FTW 👊
