    Dr Timothy Trader is a naturopath and has a Ph.D. in nutrition. He has been eating a raw vegan diet since September 6th, 1990. Since then, he has not had an asthma attack or problems with allergies. Dr. Trader does not do conveyor belt medicine, but digs deep to find the cause so problems can be turned around, not suppressed. Dr. Trader has helped many find the path to health, where others have failed.

    Favorite recipes:
    Can't Believe It's Not Soy Sauce
    blend
    I large tomato,
    A squeeze of lime,
    1 ounce of shelled and seeded tamarind or more if you like it thicker.
    I large stalk of celery
    It has that umami taste because of the glutamic acid content. But it is not heated and is not turned into glutamate.
    Salad dressing
    Berry Treat Dressing
    Most dressings are an acid and a fat (oil), berries are acidic, and seeds are high in fat (averaging around 70%) along with other nutrients.
    For a large salad…
    10 ounces of fresh berries
    10 grams of chia seed
    46 grams (1.6 ounces) of your favorite seed or even nut
    Blend until smooth
    For smaller salads
    6 ounces of fresh berries
    5 grams of chia seed
    35 grams (1.2 ounces) of your favorite seed or nut.

    At Black Hills Lifestyle center we were taught to make the 1st 6 bites of each meal raw fresh food. I'm not sure, but I think " it activates digestive enzymes". 😁🍍🍉👍🏼

      I don't eat them as a vegan for 38 years. Raw fruit is the main calorie source. Im 55 and still doing great as a raw vegan. The only cooked food i struggled to avoid was boiled potatoes. I finally got so tired of the mediocre feeling i get when i ate potatoes now the only thing i even want is green juices and fruits...nothing else makes me feel high energy and free from tiredness. Raw is required for the highest energy

      All those things that you have mentioned are all acids and block your gut! Our bodies aren’t meant to eat grains and the meats of the day! You have to do research and change your mindset to be successful! I am on my journey too! 😊

    Oh Chef AJ - Im disappointed in Dr's answer to you when you asked him what someone like you do when they would eat the whole bag of nuts not just one. To just eat them as a condiment would never work for me cause the rest of the container would be in my house & I would eat them all at once in 1 sitting. Sorry he answered the way he did. Just keep doing what your doing. You are great. I love what you are doing to help all of us. Keep up the great work!!!😘😘😘😀😀. Again Thank You & God bless you from grandma Katie in Oregon

      Dr Trader doesn't understand food addiction and those of us who are wired to cram rich food when available. I'm long term raw & fruit based and I rarely consume nuts. They are not a trigger for me but they do impact overall calorie density. Seeds are a bit kinder to the digestion and in my experience less bingeable - unless already processed eg tahini, or nut butter or even soaked & dehydrated to crunchy.

    Well, there was a culture that was all raw but it was only for 7 years, I'm told. It was before the fall and they were literally cursed to eat cooked grains ," by the sweat of your brow". Yeah and as one that has done both all fruit with an occasional salad on the " Beverly Hills Diet" in the 80's. I was definantly more vibrant and effirtlessly happy. It was shocking how automatic it was to be giddy. It was all from inside!!
    . After decades of being cooked high raw person and going back to 100% raw a year ago, its the same story. Theres no comparison to 6 years SOSfree Essstlstyn/Mc Dougal person. I do love the art of cooking but My body prefers raw. Its dramatic. I had chosen to eat cook for the nastalgia. Now, I just want to live. I improved but now I just want to live and feel like living in my body.
    I have been cold, older and sicker so its taking awhile. But after 4 months of juicing 2 quatrs of juices. Apple felery and ronain/ carrot/ beet. My liver dfinalky dumped a lot on Christmas eve. I woke upp feeling so much better. My bloid pressure finally dtoped quite a bit and im now of meds for that as well! And I am no longer excessively cold! Yes Im in TX but last winter O just froze. So my " coldness" was directly involved with the health of my liver. I had my gall bladder emergency surgery 2 years ago. My liver was the secret. They heal at their own pace. Your body knows what it needs to prioritize. needed

    Nice interwiew as always --I have always been attracted to raw whole food plant based, but never gone 100% raw - but more and more I go for 100% low fat whole food plant based diet

    Regarding gastric bypass - just add fresh nut and seed milks to get the protein / fats .
    Plenty of calories too

    I’d love to know what the raw vegans you’re interviewing thoughts are on water consumption. Due to fruit & Veg being so high in water content do we even need to consume water when eating that way? Also I’d love to know what they think of sprouted legumes. Are they a thumbs up or down?       I'm a longterm fully raw & fruit based. My diet is water-containing fresh plant food. I do find I benefit from additional water (Spring water) and I do experience sensations of thirst if I don't consume water. I think everyone is different in that regard.
      Personally I don't consume sprouted grains due to intolerance but I have friends who do, I would say they are not a substantial component of the diet.

    How does one digest such coarse veggies like brussel sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus without at least a light steaming?

      If they don't taste good prior to cooking them then I would not eat them

    A wealth of knowledge. I loved the information in the slides. Also, I agree with what Dr. Trader said about mushrooms. I had heard many years ago on a nutrition talk show nutritionists stating that raw mushrooms should definitely not be eaten. They said that if you must eat mushrooms, cook them and eat them very sparingly, but that mushrooms in general should be avoided because they are recognized in the body as foreign substances because they are fungi. They cause a negative immune response. Plants, however, do not cause such a response. I used to eat mushrooms occasionally until a former coworker told me about how he used to work in a mushroom facility where mushrooms are grown primarily for retail grocery store. He said the facility was underground because the mushrooms must be grown in a dark, moist environment. A setting almost like a coal mine. He said that the employees had to wear a type of hazmat suit and respirator to avoid breathing in the mushroom spores. Some workers had to quit because they were so sensitive that even the spores on the surface of their hazmat suits would make them sick after they took off the suits. I think whatever beneficial compound are in mushrooms are best extracted by a lab and made into a medicine in order to avoid some other compounds in mushrooms that are not good for humans. The same way that bread mold is made into penicillin. I would not eat moldy bread to get the benefits of the antibiotic contained therein. So, I think vegan should be careful trying to make mushrooms become the substitute for meat in so many meatless recipes. I know mushrooms are marketed for these purposes. But people should not respond just to marketing. Also, they should not blindly believe that just because mushrooms don't make them immediately ill that they are totally safe to consume in the long run. There are only a few animals that will eat mushrooms and they do so mainly because, at the time, there are no other food sources available. I think that is also the only reason humans should consume mushrooms.

    so yeah, weird, I ate raw yesterday and I slept like 4 hours and can't go back to sleep. Wow, I can get a lot done if I don't need to sleep 6-8 hours. I wonder if it's a fluke?

    Im low fat wfpb. I tried raw vegan and lasted about 8 hours 😅. Its not for me but I admire those who follow it.

    Where does he live? What is his monthly food bill for each month? Why is non of these people ever talk about that? Potatos organic @ Trader Joe's gone up they are for a smal back % 3.45 that's not enough for my husband and I. We eat lots of bean's. Food inflation will go up more this year. 😱

      You can save so much by not eating at restaurants n going to fast food chains, prescription bills, physiotherapies , buying packaged food , gas bills , time n many more..

    Here is what I know about myself; committing to a fully raw vegan way of eating leads to restricting which leads to binge ing which leads to loss of control. If I never had a food behavior problem and was just looking to stream line my lifestyle, sure Raw might make sense. But who here really is unlike me?

      Sounds like when u try raw ur not eating enough. It truly is a lot more food then even on a whole food plant based cooked. Highly recommend reading Douglas Graham 80/10/10 diet book. Or at the very least using chronometer to log ur caloric intake. Either way plants are the way!

    what year was this interview?. It is shown as 2021 on Google search, but is the actual interview that year? Does Dr. Trader do coaching or have a practice? He seems to have had some problems with his naturopathic license in the past.

    Some foods have toxins when eating raw such as mushrooms and potatoes. Please explain how you manage these foods

      @@CHEFAJ I'm long term fully raw with several similar friends and don't know ANYONE who goes near white potatoes. Occasionally sweet potatoes pop up in recipe eg spiralised or blended into soups but I find them slightly indigestible raw and prefer butternut squash (a botanical fruit) for superior digestibility. Mushrooms seem to be fine - anecdotally. I've used several of the mainstream culinary varieties to no ill effect and they give great texture and body to certain dishes. Not a staple though.
